BRIDGING THE GAP Frontliners, IPHO receive aid from DepEd Quezon’s Project TULAY

A

fter months of receiving donations from different groups and individuals, DepEd Division of Quezon’s Project TULAY or Tulong at Alalay para sa mga Frontliners successfully conducted its launching and first distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and rice relief to DepEd frontliners and Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) last July 30 at Talipan National High School (TNHS) Pagbilao, Quezon.

According to Zaldy Bueno, the proponent of the project and head teacher from Gumaca National High School the turnover and distribution of PPEs and rice relief in TNHS was the launching and the first distribution program steered by the Division Office’s SGOD who initiated Project TULAY. TULAY was originally Bueno’s idea and later on became a flagship project of DepEd Quezon SGOD to

give assistance to the frontliners particularly, security personnel of DepEd and IPHO in the province. “Noong buoin kasi natin ‘yon ang nasa isip tlaga natin ay magkaroon ng proteksyon ang atin pong mga frontliners kaya po ang PPE ang isa sa pangunahin na nais nating i-procure, pangalawa ay konting ayuda… ‘yun pong may pabigas tayo sa kanila kasi gusto natin na protektado sila and at the same time may ayudang natatanggap ”, said Bueno. The launching and distribution of the said project in TNHS was held through a simple program with only small number of participants and seats apart to observe proper physical and social distancing. The program started with an Opening Prayer, followed by the singing of National Anthem and Quezon Hymn. Turn to Page 2

It was followed by welcoming remarks given by Elizabeth M. De Villa, SGOD Chief and messages from Elias Alicaya, Jr. Assistant Schools Division Superintendent (ASDS) who also acknowledged the manpower or people behind the endeavour. The program then continued with the distribution of 15 kilos of rice and PPEs that would protect the frontliners during working hours in the midst of this pandemic crisis. Also, one of the highlights of the event is the acceptance of P100,000.00 donation for Integrated Provincial Health Unit (IPHO) from Project TULAY with Grace V. Santiago, M.D. Chief from IPHO – Quezon Province who received the donation. Meanwhile, DepEd Quezon top management namely SDS Catherine T. Talavera, CESO VI, ASDS Herbert D. Perez, ASDS Gregorio A. Co, Jr., SDS Alicaya, SGOD Chief De Villa, Senior Education

Program Specialist Gilbert C. Alva, Admin Officer Ma. Lourdes D. Atienza and TNHS Principal Luningning R. Mendoza, DEM were in the event while some of them gave their words of strength and gratitude too to the participants, specifically to the recipients. “I am thankful na sa pamamagitan ng programang ito ay napagkaisa natin ang mga paaralan, heads at mga guro ng bawat paaralan sa isang magandang layunin and that is to extend help sa ating mga bayani, sa ating mga frontliners”, said Catherine Talavera, CESO VI and Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) who was thankful as she also announced that the she’s retiring from the office on that day. Meanwhile, Alicaya the new OIC-SDS said that their office welcomes requests from the frontliners and that they are willing to provide their needs.

“Kung mayroon po kayong problema at sinasabi ninyong ‘Sir ito po ang kinakailangan naming suporta’, let us know. For the meantime, ito ang na-determine naming ibigay sa inyo pero kung meron pa kayong ibang bagay na request po at makatutulong sa opisina, let us know at ang pintuan po natin ay bukas para magbigay po ng tulong po sa inyo”, said Alicaya. “Siyempre malaking tulong ito sa amin. Hindi biro ang trabaho namin lalo na sa panahon ngayon.

Marami man kaming taong nakakasalamuha [at least] ligtas kami sa sakit [dulot ng] Covid-19… Nagpapasalamat kami sa tulong na ito, dito sa PPE at sa bigas. Malaking tulong talaga ito sa amin”, said Mythor G. Belay, a security guard from TNHS. Furthermore, the team of Project TULAY is set to hold more turnover and distribution programs in different parts of Quezon to extend help to around 780 DepEd frontliners.
