fter passing the initial validation and making the necessary adjustments, Talipan National High School (TNHS) successfully acquired the approval of Department of Education (DepEd) to open its classrooms again for learners to attend face-to-face learning modality. According to Luningning R. Mendoza, school head who led the team in preparation for the final SSAT validation last April 26 the school is now set to resume classes on Monday, May 16, with nine classes in the Junior High School (JHS) and two in the Senior High School (SHS) levels. “It was a rigorous preparation pero dahil tulong-tulong tayo (teachers and the stakeholders) we are able to pass the [final] validation. From Page 1 The revised SSAT is composed of four pillars namely: On Managing School Operations, On Focusing in Teaching and Learning, On Well-Being and Protection and On Home-School Coordination which are all composed of indicators and sub-indicators. During the validation, Garcia, Porta and the rest of the validation team inspected the classrooms and checked its readiness in terms of its physical layout, ventilation, and seats were strictly measured one to two meters apart with exact student headcount. Meanwhile, in order to pass the validation, the school has secured support from the Local Government Unit of Pagbilao, private groups and individuals, school administration, PTA, teachers and other stakeholders in providing the remaining needs of the school particularly in preparing the classrooms that will be used and the continuous water supply in the school. The school has also invested in school-wide, high-technology equipment such as air purifiers and thermal scanners. Parents and students’ profiles were strictly assessed for face-to-face class qualification. It varies from area of residence, mode of transportation, comorbidity status (Covid and non-Covid), childcare needs, parents’ worksite, adult supervision necessity, online learning competence, and mental health status. Hence, parents and students prioritized for physical classes should reflect the utmost necessity and consideration while the rest continue to take the Modular Distance Learning (MDL) and Online Learning and Teaching program (ODL) at the comfort of their homes. Localized IEC or Information, Education, and Communication materials were prepared as well the improved Vicinity Map of the school which includes the important facilities to be used in the pilot implementation of face to face classes. The final validation ended with the review of the school’s score in the SSAT and reminding of some minor recommendations to kick off the resumption of classes efficiently. Also present in the validation are Mendoza, Department Heads, advisers of the approved classes, School DRRM Coordinator and documenters of the activity.

From Page 2 Parents Orientation As part of its preparations for the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes to start next week, TNHS also held another orientation with the parents of the 244 identified learners. Dr. Luningning R. Mendoza led the orientation and focused on informing the parents regarding the class schedule and strict adherence to the health and safety protocols. She also introduced the key instructional leaders or teachers and non teachingpersonnel who will be guiding the learners as they enter the school premises. “We are really glad that we’re all in this together. The orientation was immediately followed by an open forum to raise questions and clarify concerns on the teaching-learning process that come along with the novelty of blended learning.
