HOVE PARK

GOLDSTONE LANE This house, at the corner of Goldstone Lane and Old Shoreham Road, was a familiar sight to Brighton and Hove Albion fans over many decades and once formed part of Goldstone farm. At the turn of the 20th century there were seven farm cottages and this larger one was inhabited by the farm foreman. When the ground was bought by the Albion, the house was taken into the ground perimeter. It was last lived in after World War Two and for a short time was used as Albion offices. This photo was taken in 1967 and the house was finally demolished in 1983. Thanks to the Regency Society for this image from their photographic archives, The James Gray Collection.
