News from Roecroft
Lower School
The end of my third year as Headteacher has flashed by in the blink of an eye, and what an eventful year it has been. I have to end the year once again, thanking my families and my staff. Thank you for your support and hard work over the last year; thank you for taking every change in your stride and for tirelessly sticking to a stream of guidance and ever-changing expectations. I continue to be grateful and know the success of the year is down to each and everyone of you. Finally, to my incredible Year 4 children and their families, I know each one of you will be amazing in your new settings. Remember to simply try your best and be kind each day. The world is your oyster! Wishing you all a sunny, relaxing and fun-filled summer, Warmest wishes, Mrs Cross
Pupils enjoying the Roecroft dance morning
Key Stage 2 Update In Year 3, we had a wonderful summer term, with fourteen weeks full of fun and learning. The children particularly enjoyed our dance morning, sports day and Maya and South America topic days. On Maya day, the children were really excited to complete their Maya masks made out of Modroc which they had been carefully designing and sculpting for weeks. On South America day, the children loved using their geographical skills to investigate the continent further. They explored the terrain and climate of The Andes and planned what they would take in their rucksack in case they got stranded there. In English, the children explored ‘The Chocolate Tree’ a traditional tale which explains where chocolate came from. We finished off the year with lots of well-deserved fun and games to celebrate all the hard work the children had put in over the year. The Year 4 children finished the summer term with energy and excitement, spending time both enjoying their final weeks at Roecroft whilst working towards the move to their new schools. We had lots of fun during the last few weeks including inter-house sports day. We completed sprints and a 100m relay race and everyone enjoyed the friendly competition between the houses! We also put on a Year 4 football tournament alongside a netball tournament for the children to play in. To finish the term we held our annual leavers party for the children with a disco, buffet and ice cream van so they could have a send-off in style! They have been a fantastic cohort and we wish them all the best of luck when starting at their new schools.
We are now busy getting our classrooms ready for September and have been thinking about what new things we can plan for the children to enjoy. We look forward to updating you after the summer break.
