News from Poppies & Poppyfields Nursery

Welcome to our news! Our re-vamp continues, with a ‘Cosy Cottage’ , a ‘Chatter Cottage’ and an ‘Imagination Station’ now built at our Poppies site! These structures provide comfortable spaces outdoors for children to feel snug, cosy, safe, develop friendships, chat and create beautifully imaginative scenarios! We continue to spend the vast proportion of our time outdoors, as this is the healthiest environment. This month, snails have been a source of great inspiration! At Poppies, bug hunts resulted in a lovely topic developing on snails, with patterns of shells, habitat, art and design ideas and music and movement evolving from this. At Poppyfields, their inspiration came from our three new Giant African land snails! They are huge! Poppies will also soon be the proud ‘family’ of another trio of land snails for the children to care for and enjoy!

Our after school provision also enjoy their time outdoors, enjoying games, free play and relaxing after their day in school. We held an Open day at Poppies in July, to welcome our new starters and have one planned for August at Poppyfields. This means that we are saying goodbye to some of our current children who are joining our local lower and primary schools. A full transition programme is in place to ensure children are familiar with their new settings and staff. We wish them every success and happiness as they begin their new adventure! Places for our Nature and Activity Camp during the summer holidays at our Poppies site are now almost full. Staff from both Poppies and Poppyfields will be working to ensure children attending see familiar faces. There are lots of fun adventures planned! We are pleased to confirm that sessions for September can now be booked at both sites. At Poppies -7.45 a.m to 6 p.m, or sessional care/education for all nursery and Reception children attending St Marys Academy. For children starting St Marys Academy in September we are available for wrap until your child starts school full time. At Poppyfields, 8 a.m to 6pm or sessional care/education for all nursery children and wrap, for children attending Fairfield Park Lower School, Dickens Boulevard site.
