News from St Mary’s Academy

What an end to another surreal year as we manage COVID implications and look towards normality!

As well as welcoming back our children in March we have managed to work through the last year without a bubble closure! Our attendance has remained high and we thank our families for their continued commitment. Our whole school Olympic Sports Week in ‘bubbles’ was a first but nevertheless great fun and a huge success with the children, we managed to work around the Great British Weather! It was sad we weren’t allowed to welcome our families in to spectate but there are lots of pictures on the website to view!

Our Year 4s also managed to have fun on their special adventure themed activity day as they sadly missed their residential trip, as well as fun and games at their various leaver’s events! We wish all of our Year 4 students going on to their new journey in Middle school the best of luck.

There were some sad moments too as we said goodbye to Mrs Comley but we wish her the very best of luck in the future!

As a school we are also very proud of our fundraising efforts in conjunction with our parent's association, the SMSA. Despite everything that has occurred in this last academic year we still managed to raise over £1,220.00 towards Children In Need, Save the Children and Comic Relief. Many thanks go to our staff, community and families for their continued support without which this would not have been possible. So to end this academic year, we hope everybody has a safe and enjoyable summer break and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to school on Monday 6th September.
