FORMER STAMFORD COLLEGE STUDENT WINS ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY AWARD

Tom Fell, a former Access to University Humanities and Social Sciences student of Stamford College, has received a Royal Television Society Student Award for Best Production Design, for his university film, ‘470 – Peter’s Story’. Tom said, “Without the support of the College throughout my time on the Access to Higher Education course, my successes since simply would not have been possible.”

STAMFORD COLLEGE HOSTS APPRENTICESHIP EMPLOYER RECRUITMENT FAIR
Coinciding with the College’s March Open Evening, Stamford College hosted an Apprenticeships Employer Recruitment Fair, enabling hundreds of young people from the local area to learn about workbased training programmes.

Based in the Conference Centre, IEG staff from the Apprenticeships Academy, T Levels and Work Experience departments, as well as representatives of IEG partners, Anglia Professional Training (APT) and inspire+, were on-hand to offer advice and guidance and to explain the apprenticeship enrolment process. External exhibitors included Howdens, Allison Homes and Countryside Partnerships, giving visitors the opportunity to gain valuable advice from experts in their chosen profession.

THE PARCS RESTAURANT, LOCATED IN PETERBOROUGH COLLEGE, RECEIVED AN EXCELLENT REVIEW FROM WE LOVE PETERBOROUGH

The organisation were impressed with the College students’ involvement at the restaurant, saying, “Parcs gives them the chance to work the room, whether they are training as serving staff, kitchen staff or as a chef. Any students who served us were very pleasant and seemed to be enjoying the evening. Thanks go out to those who did the cooking and creating of desserts. Bravo. No complaints.”
We Love Peterborough were also very satisfied with their meal, adding that, “The food is of a high quality and well worth what you pay.”
Situated on the Peterborough College grounds, the award-winning Parcs Restaurant is solely run by staff and students within our hospitality and catering department.


FROM APPRENTICE TO CURRICULUM LEADER, DARREN RAMSAY RECEIVES LONG SERVICE AWARD FROM IEG FOR 20 YEARS AT PETERBOROUGH COLLEGE
Darren Ramsay was presented with a long service award by Rachel Nicholls, Chief Executive of Inspire Education Group (IEG) in recognition of his 20 years’ service at Peterborough College.

IEG commends Darren’s career journey –from being an apprentice at Peterborough College to progressing with the institution and succeeding in a senior role.

UCP STUDENT ADVISOR, AND PETERBOROUGH POET LAUREATE, FEATURED ON BBC RADIO CAMBRIDGESHIRE

Kat Beeton, Student Advisor at University Centre Peterborough and Peterborough Poet Laureate, had her work played via BBC Upload, on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
The BBC played two pieces from Kat’s ‘The Other Side: An Anthology of New Writing’. The first piece was featured for International Women’s Day. This is not the first time Kat’s work has been featured on the BBC; her piece from the anthology was previously played, and can be listened to here
The local station, BBC Look East, will also be playing a range of Kat’s poetry on National Poetry Day, these include a piece she has written as a tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II. This can be watched here
UNIVERSITY CENTRE PETERBOROUGH ANNOUNCES PUBLISHING PROJECT WITH STAMFORD-BASED WRITING MAGAZINE, MONO
UCP are pleased to announce a partnership with Stamford-based writing magazine, MONO. Over the next three years, MONO. will work out of UCP, editing and designing print and digital issues and offering undergraduate students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience skills in publishing.
MONO. was launched by UCP alumni Kayleigh Cutforth in 2020, after being inspired by the Employment module in her second year of study, and has steadily gained a readership of over 1k readers as well as recognition amongst fellow indie publishers and authors.

Our Level 5 Digital Arts students have spent the semester working on an integrated campaign around Giant’s women’s bike brand, Liv. This live brief, part of their Integrated Advertising module, tasked the students to develop creative aimed at women aged 18-55, encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle through cycling.
The students were tasked with researching the best form of media to use, as well as developing the creative plan. In groups, they created pre-roll videos, which can also be displayed on the screens in the shop, and radio adverts. Representatives from both Giant and Nene Park Trust were invited into the University to hear the students’ pitches, they commented, “The students’ commitment to the project shone in their varied creative approaches, demonstrating their teamwork, presentation, marketing and design skills.”
