UNIVERSITY CENTRE PETERBOROUGH AMONG FIRST WAVE OF PROVIDERS FOR THE LIFELONG LEARNING ENTITLEMENT (LLE)

University Centre Peterborough, part of Inspire Education Group (IEG), has been confirmed as one of the first Higher Education providers in the UK to deliver under the new Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) initiative. A major milestone in the Government’s vision to make higher education more flexible, accessible and responsive to employer needs.

Launching from January 2027, the LLE will allow individuals to access funding for modular study, enabling those already in employment to enhance their skills and knowledge in areas such as business development, artificial intelligence, cyber security, counselling, research, and more.

IEG CEO WELCOMES PRIME MINISTER’S SKILLS MISSION AND CALLS FOR CONTINUED INVESTMENT IN COLLEGES

Speaking after the Prime Minister’s Labour Party Conference address, Rachel said:

“This is a decisive and welcome step away from a one-size-fits-all approach to education. Technical skills and Apprenticeships are not a second-best option – they are the crucial engine room for the UK economy’s growth and productivity. By setting a new ambition that gives equal weight to these routes, the government is ensuring young people can choose a path that works for them and leads to a great job.”

UNIVERSITY CENTRE PETERBOROUGH LECTURER TO SPEAK AT INTERNATIONAL UNESCO CITIES OF LITERATURE

CONFERENCE

Dr Andrew McDonnell, course leader for the BA Hons English Literature and Creative Writing degree at University Centre Peterborough, was selected to deliver a paper at the UNESCO Cities of Literature International Conference: Literature, City, Nature in Lithuania this month.

Speaking about the opportunity, Andrew said “I’ve been teaching at University Centre Peterborough for almost ten years, and I love both my home city of Norwich and my work city of Peterborough. To go and talk about this journey I make by train and how it influences my writing is a fantastic opportunity, and I cannot wait to share this rich literary corner of East Anglia with the other delegates.”

PERSIMMON HOMES DONATE 10,000 BRICKS TO SUPPORT FUTURE CONSTRUCTION WORKFORCE AT IEG

IEG has received a generous donation of 10,000 bricks from Persimmon Homes East Midlands to support practical construction training at our Peterborough and Stamford campuses. The donation is part of Persimmon’s Brick Donation Scheme, which helps colleges deliver real-world experience to students pursuing careers in the built environment.

The bricks, provided through Persimmon’s national Brick Donation Scheme, will be used by students at both Peterborough and Stamford College, giving them access to industry-grade materials as they develop their craft.

Students at University Centre Peterborough are celebrating their achievements after receiving their Chartered Management Institute (CMI) certificates, marking an important milestone in their academic and professional journeys.

Through University Centre Peterborough’s valued partnership with the CMI, students studying programmes such as Business Management benefit from free CMI membership, gaining access to exclusive professional resources, networking opportunities and the potential to earn additional qualifications alongside their degree.

ART AND DESIGN STUDENTS EXPERIENCE THE TIMELESS BEAUTY OF FLORENCE

Art and Design students recently had the opportunity to immerse themselves in one of the world’s most inspiring cultural destinations, Florence, Italy.

The group explored some of Florence’s most iconic landmarks, including the Galleria dell’Accademia, Galleria degli Uffizi, Il Duomo, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, and Ponte Vecchio.

Art and Design Tutor Romina shared her passion and motivation behind organising the trip:

“I am very passionate about art and felt the need to give our learners the opportunity to see art that is timeless. The trip was to give our learners an experience of art, architecture and culture, where better than Florence.”

STUDENTS PARTNER WITH PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL FOR KATHERINE OF ARAGON FESTIVAL 2026

Our Creative Arts department has been given an exciting opportunity to collaborate with Peterborough Cathedral for the upcoming Katherine of Aragon Festival 2026.

Art and Design students have been tasked with producing a unique artwork reflecting Katherine’s remarkable life and achievements. These pieces, which can include paintings, prints, photographs, or textile work, will be displayed on easels within the Cathedral Nave aisle, creating a stunning gallery experience for visitors as they arrive for the Tudor banquet. Selected work may also be re-exhibited over the weekend of the 31st January, allowing members of the public to view the students’ creations.

STAMFORD COLLEGE STUDENT ACHIEVES PRESTIGIOUS GOLD DUKE OF EDINBURGH’S AWARD

Stamford College student Cordelia BarnesBrown has achieved her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), marking the culmination of years of hard work, dedication and adventure.

At Stamford College, students are encouraged and supported to take part in enrichment opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, which complement their academic studies and personal development. The College’s dedicated staff help students balance their coursework with DofE activities, offering guidance, encouragement and opportunities to gain valuable life skills through teamwork, leadership and community engagement.
