The CGT has received significant national attention for its role in shaping the future of green skills, sustainability, and education. Our commitment to equipping students with the expertise needed for net-zero careers has been recognised across major media outlets, government discussions, and industry publications.
BBC News, ITV News and MSN showcased the CGT’s impact on the future of sustainability and skills development.
The CGT has been mentioned in multiple parliamentary discussions, highlighting its importance in the national green skills strategy.
Featured in the latest issue, recognising CGT as a state-of-theart sustainability hub.
Liz Kendall, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, commended Peterborough College’s work with Apprenticeships.
Andrew Pakes, MP for Peterborough has highlighted the Centre for Green Technology as a model of education, industry, and public investment working together, cementing the College’s role as a community anchor, driving a green, inclusive economy.
Peter Kyle, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology focused on the College’s sustainability leadership and how it has demonstrated how strategic educational investment can fuel innovation, positioning the College as key to a greener future.
Chi Onwurah, Chair of the Science, Innovation and Technology Select Committee, also visited to learn more about the CGT’s role in preparing students for green careers.
Key funding partners have backed the £13.5 million Centre for Green Technology:
• £2.471 million –Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (Transforming Cities Fund)
• £1.9 million – Peterborough City Council (Towns Fund)
• £400,000 – Local Growth Fund
Baroness Taylor of Stevenage Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Baroness Taylor was appointed to the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities in July 2024. She leads on areas including housing delivery, local government engagement, energy efficiency, and Net Zero, with a focus on driving regional growth through sustainable development.
She will be addressing guests at the Centre for Green Technology launch to highlight the importance of skills, education, and innovation in achieving national sustainability and regeneration goals.
