PREFIXES A prefix is a group of letters we add to the beginning of the word to make a new word. Example: dis + agree = disagree prefix

It is useful to know the meaning of the most common prefixes. It expands your vocabulary and helps you understand words you have never heard before. Match the prefixes from the left box with the root words from the right box, to make new words with a changed meaning. Can you think of any other prefixes in English? What are some of the most common prefixes in Swedish? Are any of them the same in English and Swedish? Discuss with a classmate. Test yourself, or challenge a classmate, to see how many words with prefixes you can list. Translate them into Swedish. Ask your teacher for the Pyramid Board Game to practise some more!
