REC BOARD NEWS

Hello Residents,

The projected Budget for this fiscal year confidently maintains the user fee for the District and the Association at the same level for the fifth consecutive year. This decision is supported by strategic discretionary spending from the District Manager, Maintenance Manager, and the Board. Additionally, leveraging the returns on our investments allows us to effectively offset some of our operating costs, ensuring financial stability. Copies of the Proposed Budgets can be found on our website.

On the Recreation Association side, we have proactively increased the budget to cover a rise in the cost of maintaining our golf course. As many of you may know, we are currently in the planning stages of replacing the greens, which are in urgent need of attention. Importantly, there will be no assessments associated with this expense. We will provide more information on this project soon.

This year, due too the increasing cost of the coupon books, the Association’s goal is to transition owners from the coupon payment method to more efficient alternatives, such as Direct Deposit, Automatic Draft, or Owner Portal Payment. We understand that personal preference plays a significant role, so we will continue to offer the coupon book for those who prefer to keep this payment method.

On behalf of the Board, we would like to extend our sincerest appreciation to the owners for the opportunity to serve you this mid- fiscal year. Enjoy your summer!

DISTRICT NEWS

Dear Residents,

Summer is upon us and so is hurricane season. NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Admin.) is predicting a busy season with 13-19 named storms and of those 3-5 major hurricanes. Residents are encouraged to get their hurricane supplies now and be prepared for power outages and flooding etc. Here at the Clubhouse, we are ensuring our roofs are structurally sound with no known leaks or areas of water intrusion. We also make sure all of our pool awnings are up to code and can withstand strong winds.

Recreation District Manager

Air conditioning is another full time job during the summer months. We have over 30 A/C units on property (Clubhouse & Satellites) that we have to maintain, changing filters and fan belts on a regular schedule. A/C companies are usually stretched thin this time of year, so sometimes it may take time for a major repair. We recently installed Wi-Fi thermostats in some of our rooms so we can monitor and adjust temperatures as needed. Hopefully this will decrease our electric bill and improve the function and life of the A/C units.

In the Main Clubhouse, we are gathering bids from Sound/Audio companies. We want to improve the music and PA system for Residents and guests. We have music now in some areas but the quality of the sound is not very good. Our goal is to expand the number of speakers and add sound to areas like the Gym, Cafeteria or maybe the outside entrance as well as improve the quality of the sound itself.

We’re still waiting for City approval on the parking lot re-sealing project but have been approved to fix the stretch of sidewalk between holes #6 and #7. That work should be completed by the time of this publishing.

dyk: The Declaration of Independence

The Declaration of Independence wasn’t signed on July 4, 1776.

On July 1, 1776, the Second Continental Congress met in Philadelphia, and on the following day, 12 of the 13 colonies voted in favor of Richard Henry Lee’s motion for independence. The delegates then spent the next two days debating and revising the language of a statement drafted by Thomas Jefferson. On July 4, Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence, and as a result, the date is celebrated as Independence Day. Nearly a month would go by before the actual signing of the document took place. New York’s delegates didn’t officially give their support until July 9 because their home assembly hadn’t yet authorized them to vote in favor of independence. It took two weeks for the Declaration to be written on parchment in a clear hand. Most of the delegates signed on August 2, but several—Elbridge Gerry, Oliver Wolcott, Lewis Morris, Thomas McKean and Matthew Thornton signed on a later date. The signed parchment copy now resides at the National Archives alongside the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

More than one copy of the Declaration of Independence exists.

After the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston, were charged with overseeing the reproduction of the approved text. This was completed at the shop of Philadelphia printer John Dunlap. On July 5, Dunlap’s copies were dispatched across the 13 colonies to newspapers, local officials and the commanders of the Continental troops. These rare documents, known as “Dunlap broadsides,” predate the engrossed version signed by the delegates. Of the hundreds thought to have been printed on the night of July 4, only 26 copies survive.

The Declaration of Independence spent World War II in Fort Knox.

On December 23, 1941, just over two weeks after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, the signed Declaration, together with the Constitution, was removed from public display and prepared for evacuation out of Washington, D.C. Under the supervision of armed guards, the document was packed in a specially designed container, latched with padlocks, sealed with lead and placed in a larger box. It traveled by train to Louisville, Kentucky, where a cavalry troop of the 13th Armored Division escorted it to Fort Knox. on , e he

Additionally, eating excess salt (sodium) can increaseTrusted Source the likelihood of high blood pressure and fluid retention, potentially worsening heart-related conditions. There may also be a connection between sodium and sugar intake and an increased risk of developing dementia. For these reasons, it is a good idea to be mindful of the amount of sodium and sugar in any food. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that over 40% of the sodium in a typical American adult’s diet derives from foods such as: bread and baked goods, cold cuts, cured meats. soups, and snacks such as chips. Therefore, it might be wise to limit or even avoid alcohol consumption.

What to eat instead

Be sure to consult your physician before any dietary changes.

NOTICIAS DE LA JUNTA

Hola Vecinos,
