From the Desk of A. Beyel September 2025

Dear Members, Guests, and Friends,

As we close out August and head into September, our focus remains on the course, on the people who enjoy it, and on the community that gathers here. Whether you are a long-time member or a guest joining us for the first time, we are grateful for your support and for the opportunity to share this season of golf with you.

Our maintenance team has continued working through the summer heat with attention on tee boxes, greens, and fairways. The growing season always brings challenges, but we are seeing steady progress and are encouraged by the results so far. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to repair ball marks, fill divots, and respect cart path guidelines. These efforts truly make a difference in the quality of play for all.

By the time you read this letter, our annual Labor Day Scramble will have taken place. With a large turnout already preregistered, it looks like this year’s event will be one to remember. We hope you were able to join us for the fun and enjoy a great day of golf and camaraderie.

All my best,

It is with sadness that we share the passing of Norman Earley, a longtime member of Rockledge Country Club. Norm was a one-of-a-kind gentleman whose humor, warmth, and love for the game left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed not only by our Club, but by the entire community. Norm’s family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 5 at the Moose Lodge in Merritt Island. All who knew him are invited to attend and join in honoring his memory.

Looking ahead, we are excited to share that this fall will bring a new way to enjoy your Club with pickleball under the lights. We look forward to seeing our members and guests take part in evening matches and enjoy this growing sport in a new atmosphere. More details will be shared soon. Rockledge Country Club continues to be a place where golf and community come together. We are proud to welcome both members and the public to share the course, enjoy the ga d b rt of this community. Thank you for , and we look forward to seeing you ys.

COURSE MAINTENANCE UPDATE

With all the recent rainfall, the golf course is looking very good. Bermudagrass is a warm season turf that loves sunshine, warm temps and plenty of moisture. We are in the time of year that this grass excels in. We should have another couple of good months of growth to continue healing weak areas and promote great grass growth throughout the course.

We are continually working on developing our cart path exit and entrance areas at tees and greens. This project will help us spread the wear of golf cart traffic during the busy season when the grass does not recover from the stress it receives. Our goal is to have this completed by the beginning of the new season in late October to early November.

There will be a greens aerification on September 22nd (weather permitting). It will be another small-time process that creates minimal damage to the turf. The reason we do the smaller times is the Zoysia does not heal rapidly, so the bigger tines create disruption of the surface for far too long.

We are currently in the process of rebuilding the back tee on hole 13. When finished, it will be a nice improvement to this hole.

Yours in Turf, Jerry Yeomans

GOLF PRO UPDATE

The summer sure has flown by and we are excited to be entering the Fall season with the course looking so great and the weather starting to cool down a bit. The Club also welcomed several new Gold Members to the Club last week; we wish them a warm welcome.

As we head into the fall season, the course will become much more active as this is a very popular time for outings and events, so please make sure and double check your tee times and take advantage of the early booking window based on your Membership Category.

Also, starting October 1st, the golf shop staff will no longer be able to create standing tee times for players on a reoccurring basis at specific times, we have experienced a significant number of no-shows or issues with these times. If you participate in groups of 10 or more players, or weekly leagues, we will still automatically book these times. If you need any assistance in using the Member online booking portal, feel free to see a golf shop staff member and we can assist you in getting setup to be able to create reservations 24/7.

On the lesson tee, we are ready for a full slate of both Junior and Ladies programs ready to kick off in early October. The Fall PGA Junior league season is back with a sold-out team of many returning players and some new Juniors as well.

This Fall’s team will have 6 practices and 6 matches against other area teams, the RCC Team is looking for its 3rd local championship in a row! For the Ladies, we have a Fall filled with events. Our Ladies Operation 36 program will kick off October 1st and the player list has tripled since last season! This program is ideal for both new players and advanced as players learn the game from close to the hole and proceed back in yardage as their game progresses. All of our instructors will be assisting with the group and there is still time to signup, please see a golf shop staff Member to register or for further information.

In the golf shop, we have plenty of new items to check out. Our new Pukka hat designs have been a hit, and we are already planning our next designs to arrive later this fall. Also, in the shop now are some new inexpensive cooling towels for the hot days, along with a new selection of accessories with poker chips, divot tools, hat clips, and ball markers. Incoming later this fall will be some new lines from Nike, Travis Matthew, and some fall outerwear pieces from FootJoy that we are very excited for.

Thanks for your continued support of the golf operations.
