His vast burial site was discovered in northwest China in 1974, and the story of the amazing Terracotta Warriors will be displayed, alongside spectacular artefacts that have never been seen in this country before. Please note that, at the time of writing, final details for the Exhibition had not been advised by Liverpool Museums, and that tickets are subject to availability. We will book the tickets as soon as they go on sale and confirm the day and time for our visits.

the stunning Italian Gardens, for which there is an admission charge. We reach our hotel by the end of the afternoon, allowing time to relax or take a stroll before dinner. Days 2-3 Both days are available for you to “do your own thing” in Liverpool, where there will be plenty of activity around the Albert Dock and along the waterfront by the Mersey. Admire the graceful masts of the Tall Ships and step on board some of these amazing vessels from all over the world. Submerge yourself in Liverpool’s seafaring past at the Maritime Museum, see the iconic Liver Building, visit the Beatles Story or the new British Music Experience, take the open-top sightseeing bus to one of the city’s two cathedrals, or a River Explorer Cruise on the legendary Mersey Ferry. The choice is yours; there is so much to see and do in Liverpool that two days will not be enough! Please note that admissions to the attractions mentioned above are not included. On one of these days there will be a visit, with admission included, to the Terracotta Warriors Exhibition (see below). Day 4 (TOUR A ONLY) After an action-packed two days in Liverpool, today we slow the pace of life right down with a scenic cruise through the Douglas Valley on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. We drive to Wigan Pier to join the friendly crew from Kittywake Canal Cruises aboard one of their wide beam barges with comfortable seating, wc, and a well-stocked bar. We will leave the industrial landscape behind, and enjoy a buffet lunch served as we cruise at a leisurely 4mph through the Lancashire countryside. It’s called “taking it easy”! Final day After breakfast we will leave Lancashire and make our way home to Sussex, arriving for late afternoon taxis.

Tony Pragnell has come up with this great new tour to East Anglia. Here is his promise… A grand stately home, a unique and beautiful garden, two historic cathedral cities, a coastal drive exploring pretty Norfolk seaside towns, a Broads cruise, and of course a steam train journey.

Your Holiday Itinerary Day 1 We drive to Bury St. Edmunds, a historic gem, with medieval architecture, Georgian squares, a Cathedral, and immaculate Abbey Gardens within the walls of a former monastery. After time to explore and find lunch we continue to Norwich, for a four-night stay. Day 2 Today we visit Blickling Hall, Garden and Park. Built in the 17th century, this National Trust property is one of England’s great Jacobean houses. The estate was the birthplace of Anne Boleyn, and the Hall is set in parkland, with orangery, secret garden and woodland dell. This afternoon we travel to East Ruston Old Vicarage Garden, a feast of formal design, decorative exuberance and brilliant planting. Day 3 A full day to enjoy Norwich at leisure. Norwich claims to be our most complete medieval city, headed by the 11th century Cathedral and Norman Castle. Discover charming medieval streets and hidden lanes, visit Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery, and browse in the shops along Castle Mall and Royal Arcade. DAY 4 A leisurely touring day, exploring the North Norfolk coastline. Time for coffee in Wells-next-the-Sea, then on through Blakeney and Cley-next-the-Sea to the popular resort of Sheringham, where we spend lunchtime. Later, we board the steam train known as the ‘Poppy Line’ for the journey to Holt. Time to find tea in this attractive small town before heading back to Norwich. DAY 5 Leaving the Hotel after breakfast, we begin the homeward journey. But first we enjoy a 90-minute boat trip on the Norfolk Broads. There will be a commentary from the skipper, explaining the origins of these beautiful waterways, with windmills and water birds as we cruise the peaceful and timeless landscape, providing a perfect finale to our Norfolk tour.

Your Holiday Hotel THE HOLIDAY INN NORWICH CITY is just a ten-minute stroll from the heart of Norfolk’s cathedral city. This smart hotel is modern 4-star, with lifts, all the expected amenities, and good reviews. Rooms are spacious and have air-conditioning and tea/coffee making facilities. Featuring Hardangerord and Sognord We are delighted to be off to Norway again, on a 9-day “FLY-COACH” holiday that takes you to the heart of ord country. There are two tours to choose from; tour ‘A’ travels to Norway by coach and returns by air, and tour ‘B’ flies to Bergen and returns by coach. Apart from this, the itinerary for each tour is almost identical. It is difficult to describe the sheer beauty of Fjordland Norway, a stunning land of snow-capped mountains, crystal lakes and charming villages. Norwegian roads are quiet and are frequently diving in and out of tunnels, with an exciting new vista every time you emerge into the daylight. We explore Norway’s longest and most spectacular ord, the Sogneord, which reaches 130 miles inland, flanked by waterfalls and spectacular rock walls. And we stay on Eidord, a branch of the Hardangerord which reaches depths of up to 900 metres. For your added comfort and safety there will be two drivers on each tour.

14

Day 1 A taxi will collect you from home and bring you to the Roadmark coach to join your drivers and fellow passengers for the start of this 9-day tour to the Norwegian ords. We drive to Dover for a ferry crossing to France, then through Belgium and Holland to the Van Der Valk Hotel Venlo. Day 2 We are soon in Germany, heading to Bremen, a maritime city straddling the Weser River. There will be time for lunch, and a stroll among the Hanseatic Buildings on the Market Square, including one of Germany’s most beautiful town halls dating from the early 1400s. Day 3 Much of today will be spent on the coach driving north through Denmark to the port of Hirtshals. We take the evening ferry to Norway, including comfortable accommodation in standard cabins with sea view. Meals on board the ship are not included, but there are different bars and restaurants to choose from. The Fjordline cruise ferries are among the first in the world to be powered by liquefied natural gas, and carry around 1500 passengers and 600 vehicles. Day 4 The ship calls at Stavanger early morning before continuing up the Norwegian coast, sailing past majestic mountains, charming coves, ord outlets and small fishing communities. The final approach to Bergen is nothing less than magical. We arrive at midday and drive east to cross the Hardanger Bridge which opened in 2013 and is the world’s longest tunnel-to-tunnel suspension bridge. For the next two nights we stay at the Quality Hotel Voringfoss, situated on the shore of the Hardangerord with its deep blue water and backdrop of mountains and waterfalls. Day 5 A full day Hardangerord excursion, travelling first to Kvanndal for a ferry across the ord to Utne. We visit one of Norway’s oldest museums for an introduction to the culture of the Hardanger region, with exhibitions on embroidery, costumes and folk music. We continue via the ferry to Kinsarvik and drive further along the Eidord to visit Voringfossen Waterfall. See vast quantities of water plunge 182 metres from the Hardangervidda plateau into the Mabodalen Valley. Day 6 Over the Hardangerbrua for the third time then on to Voss, where we will board a train to journey along part of the famous Bergen to Oslo Railway. We pass through upland farming country before climbing to the remote station at Myrdal, isolated in a great bowl of mountains. Here we transfer to the Flåm Railway, said to be among the most incredible train journeys in the world. It is also the world’s steepest standard gauge line. We descend through wild and magnificent mountain scenery, overcoming a height difference of 866 metres. In Flam we rejoin the coach and drive over the Vikaell mountain road to the Sogneord. Then a ferry from Vangsnes to Dragsvik and a short drive to Kviknes Hotel in Balestrand for a threenight stay. Day 7 We take the ferry from Dragsvik to Hella and drive alongside the Sogneord to Kaupanger to visit the Stave Church. It is considered to be a cathedral among Norwegian stave churches and is still used as the church for the local parish. Then to the Sogn Folk Museum to discover how people from Sogn have lived and worked from the Middle Ages to the present day. There is a unique collection of boats, a tavern from the 19th century, and a traditional farm. Day 8 We drive up an amazing mountain road that twists and turns through nine hairpin bends to the Gaularfell viewpoint. Continuing past rivers and waterfalls we reach the town of Skei, with its large tourist shop. Then to pretty Fjaerland, where we visit the Norsk Bremuseum to learn about ice, glaciers and how the ords were formed. We round off the day with a cruise on the Fjaerlandsord, with views of the Jostedalen Glacier, the largest glacier in mainland Europe. Day 9 After breakfast we drive south to Bergen, a journey of around 4 hours. There will be time this afternoon to explore this unique maritime city before a transfer to the airport. Our homeward flight arrives at Gatwick at 20.10, and a short coach ride will take us to the waiting taxis.

Deposit £50pp • Travel Insurance £15.50pp Roadmark Travel has been visiting the East Devon town of Sidmouth for many years, and it has proved consistently popular with our clients. According to John Betjeman, Sidmouth is “A town caught in a timeless charm”. To visit Sidmouth certainly seems like taking a step back in time, with its narrow shopping streets, beautiful gardens and Regency history, nestling beneath the majestic red cliffs and green hills of the Sid Valley.

Forget about counting the calories on this one-night break to the Cotswolds for a meeting of The Pudding Club, devoted to preserving the tradition of the Great British Pudding. For 2018 we are also including a nostalgic steam train ride on the GWSR, and plan to be amongst the first to experience the railway’s latest extension to Broadway.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE BLACK FOREST 19-25 July 2018

£749 pp based on two sharing £97 sole occupancy supplement Deposit £75pp Travel insurance £39.50pp

The Schwarzwald Hotel is found in the little town of Gengenbach, surrounded by the rolling hills of the Black Forest. On this tour we will discover lush meadows, pine-clad hills, rushing rivers and traditional chocolate box villages. This is a land where houses have long sloping roofs and where workshops specialise in intricate carvings and cuckoo clocks.

Your Holiday Itinerary Day 1 Join your drivers and fellow passengers on the coach and enjoy a complimentary hot drink and biscuits on the journey to Dover. We take the ferry to France and head south through the Champagne country to Metz. Here we will spend our first night at the Mercure Hotel, with dinner (set menu) and breakfast included. Day 2 We only have around 200KM to drive today, allowing us to make a leisurely lunch stop in Strasbourg, the jewel of the Alsace. There is a mesmerising Gothic cathedral, winding alleyways lined with crooked half-timbered houses, and cosy winstubs (Alsatian taverns). We include a canal cruise to see the colourful La Petite France area and the Maison des Tanneurs. A short hop across the Rhine takes us to our hotel in Gengenbach. Day 3 We drive to the old walled town of Villingen and join the Schwarzwäldbahn, one of Europe’s most beautiful low mountain railways. The Railway is regarded as a great feat of engineering, and a short but fascinating journey takes us through tunnels, across viaducts and alongside the River Gutach. Alighting in Hausach, we spend this afternoon at the Black Forest Open Air Museum to discover more about the history and culture of the region. There are six fully furnished farmhouses,

18

a variety of other typical Black Forest buildings, traditional tools and costumes, and exhibitions of crafts such as weaving and clock-making. Day 4 To beautiful Titisee, for a lake cruise, with coffee and a slice of Black Forest gateau included. Later we will take a steam train ride on the Wutach Valley Railway, popularly known as the Sauschwanzlebahn (the Pigtail Line). The line was built between 1887 and 1890 and winds its way to Weizen near the Swiss border. In order to keep the gradient low, engineers incorporated a series of dramatic loops and curves, and even a loop tunnel. Day 5 It’s your choice today. Spend more time enjoying Gengenbach. The old town, just a short stroll from our Hotel, has half-timbered buildings and romantic streets and alleyways. Or come on the coach for a half-day excursion to charming Triberg, to explore the many woodcarving and cuckoo clock shops, and sample the local cuisine or famous kirsch. Day 6 After breakfast we load the coach and drive north to visit the twin towns of Bernkastel-Kues, surrounded by the lush vineyards of the Mosel Valley. Bernkastel is a symphony in half-timber and teems with wine shops and taverns. Kues, on the opposite bank of the river, is less quaint but home to some key historical sights. The final night of the holiday will be at the Mercure Europlatz Hotel on the outskirts of Aachen. Day 7 We make our way through Belgium to the Channel coast and take the ferry back to Dover. Then it’s on to Sussex, where taxis will be waiting.

Your Holiday Hotel THE SCHWARZWALD HOTEL is a modern and functional German 4-star hotel located by the River Kinzig, near the centre of this 13th century town in the western part of the Black Forest. The bedrooms, accessed by a lift, are bright and comfortable, with air-conditioning, TV, telephone, hair dryer and free Wi-Fi. There is a wellness area, with indoor swimming pool. On one evening there will be a light dinner with wine at Gengenbach Winery, instead of at the Hotel. www.schwarzwaldhotel-gengenbach.de

An exciting tour to Switzerland, staying in the mountain resort of Davos. Davos and nearby Klosters are surrounded by a breathtaking backdrop of mountains in idyllic countryside, offering the perfect setting for a summer holiday in the Alps.

Your Holiday Itinerary Day 1 Taxi pick up from your home to the coach. Dover to Calais ferry crossing, and drive to Forbach on the French/German border for an overnight stay with dinner (set menu) and breakfast at the Mercure Hotel. Day 2 Continue into Switzerland to the high Alpine resort of Davos for a 5 night stay.

THE BERNINA EXPRESS One of Europe’s great train journeys, and a truly spectacular way to cross the Alps, the Bernina Express climbs up to the glistening glaciers before descending to the palms and vineyards of Italy far below. For most of its journey the train runs along the World Heritage Site known as the Rhaetian Railway. You will pass through 55 tunnels and across 196 bridges during the three and a half hour journey from Davos to Tirano. The amazing Brusio Circular Viaduct is a masterpiece of engineering, built to limit the gradient of the line to just 7 per cent. The views are at their most magnificent at the mountain-ringed Lake Bianco, and the highest point is reached at Ospizio Bernina, at 2,253 metres above sea level. The carriages have large, panoramic windows, giving unrestricted views of the unspoilt Alpine scenery.

Day 3 A mid-morning departure for our excursion to the world famous resort of St. Moritz. Elegant and chic, it lies in the middle of a lake-dotted landscape and offers one of the sunniest climates in Switzerland. The pretty town is famous as the birthplace of Alpine winter tourism and has hosted two Winter Olympic Games. Day 4 We travel via Klosters to the charming and historic town of Chur. Time to explore the cobbled streets, secret courtyards and Cathedral. We return through the mountains via Filisur and the verdant Albula Pass. Day 5 A short stroll from our hotel to the station to board the Bernina Express for an unforgettable journey through the mountains to Italy. Experience lakes, gorges and glaciers, as well as a series of amazing loops and tunnels. The train heads up through the Swiss Engadin Alps before descending into the remote Poschiavo Valley, with its pretty flowers and Mediterranean atmosphere. Finally we reach Tirano, for a little time at leisure before boarding the coach to drive back to Davos, with a fresh perspective on the awesome scenery en route. Day 6 A day at leisure. We include a “Davos Card” allowing free use of local public transport and cable cars. We suggest a trip on the Schatzalp funicular railway to the top of the Magic Mountain for lunch in the panoramic restaurant, followed by a visit to the Alpine Garden. Day 7 Depart Davos after breakfast and return to the Mercure at Forbach for dinner and overnight stay. Day 8 We make our way back to Calais and take a ferry home, reaching the local area and meeting taxis mid-evening.

Your Holiday Hotel THE CENTRAL SPORTHOTEL Davos is one of Europe’s highest towns, and is often home to members of the royal family during the ski season. The Central Sporthotel is a 4 star hotel with a lift, located in the town centre. There is a bar, indoor pool, sauna and steambath. The bedrooms have a balcony and “Austrian style” twin beds. A cold buffet breakfast is served and dinner is three courses. A set menu is served on the evening of arrival, with a choice on subsequent days. A Swiss Farmers Buffet is served on one evening of your stay. www.central-davos.ch

As the title suggests, this brand new tour has something for everyone. Based at the stylish Stoke Moat House Hotel, we will explore the history of the Potteries, visit two National Trust properties and a stately home, with a heritage railway thrown in for good measure.

Your Holiday Itinerary Sunday We travel to the Shugborough Estate on the edge of Cannock Chase. Shugborough is a rare survivor of a complete country estate, with all the major buildings including mansion house, servants’ quarters, working farm and walled garden. After our visit we continue to the Hotel, with time to relax before dinner. Monday A local guide will join us on the coach to introduce the rich history of the unique city affectionately known as The Potteries. We will take a guided tour at the Gladstone Pottery Museum to discover how the world’s finest bone china was made in coal burning kilns. We will also visit The Potteries Museum, home to the incredible Staffordshire Hoard, the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon gold ever found. And, of course, we will call at a factory shop for that all-important shopping. Tuesday A gentle scenic drive through the Peak District to Chatsworth House, one of the finest stately homes in Britain. Home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, Chatsworth has been passed down through 16 generations. The House has over 30 rooms including the magnificent Painted Hall, and you can explore 105 acres of gardens, water features and sculptures. Wednesday Today we visit the Churnet Valley Railway for a journey back to the classic days of train travel on a rural line that passes through beautiful countryside known as Staffordshire’s “Little Switzerland”. Later we head to the National Trust’s Biddulph Grange Garden. This amazing Victorian garden was created by James Bateman for his collection of plants from around the world. Enjoy the summer bedding displays and stunning Dahlia Walk. Thursday Before heading for home we will visit the Trentham Monkey Forest. Set in beautiful woodland, it is the only place in the UK where you can actually walk amongst monkeys! There are no cages or bars, with around 140 Barbary Macaques living just as they would in the wild. This amazing experience rounds off the tour, and, after time for lunch at Trentham, we return to Sussex during the afternoon.

This holiday, visiting Scotland’s two major cities, will be accompanied by PAUL FISHER. Paul has been leading tours throughout Britain for many years, and his knowledge and experience will help to make this a fascinating and interesting trip. The highlight will undoubtedly be our visit to The Edinburgh Tattoo. Staged on the esplanade of majestic Edinburgh Castle, this iconic event features music, dance and precision displays with the Massed Pipes and Drums, military bands, cultural troupes, singers, and the poignant refrain of the Lone Piper.

Your Holiday Itinerary Sunday We drive to the Scottish border at Gretna Green, calling in for a “wee dram” to set the scene for our Scottish adventure, and then continue through the Southern Uplands to Glasgow, where we will spend four nights at the Hallmark Hotel. Monday The port city of Glasgow on the River Clyde is famed for its Victorian and art nouveau architecture, a rich legacy of the city’s 18th-20th century prosperity, derived from trade and shipbuilding. Either do your own thing, or join Paul on a tour of the “Second City of the Empire”, seeing George Square, St. Mungo’s Cathedral, the City Chambers, and visiting the world famous Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Tuesday Spend the morning in Glasgow, before leaving for Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh. We will pause to view the iconic bridges on the River Forth, including the new Queensferry Crossing. Later, Paul will take you on a walking tour of the historic Grassmarket area to show you Greyfriars Kirkyard and tell the story of Greyfriars Bobby, the wee Skye terrier who faithfully guarded his master’s grave for 14 years! Later, take your seat for one of the greatest shows on earth. Please note that there is no dinner at the Hotel this evening. Wednesday We explore the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. with an included cruise on the Queen of Scottish lochs, immortalised by writers, poets and artists over the centuries. Our second Scottish tour of 2018 will take you to the incredibly beautiful west coast, to discover enchanting islands, dramatic landscapes, mountains, lochs and glens. We will stay on the Isle of Arran, known as ‘Scotland in Miniature’, and in the port of Oban, the “Gateway to the Isles”.

Your Holiday Itinerary Day 1 We drive through the Midlands and Cumbria to Gretna Green just over the Scottish border. Here we stay at the comfortable Gretna Hall Hotel, with dinner and breakfast. Day 2 With views of the Solway Firth, we travel through the hills and forests of Dumfries and Galloway to the Robbie Burns Birthplace Museum at Alloway. Visit the humble cottage where Scotland’s National Bard was born, and explore the museum which houses the world’s most important collection of his original works and personal belongings. Next stop is the port of Ardrossan, where we will board a ferry for the hour-long crossing to Arran. Our base for the next three nights will be the Best Western Kinloch Hotel in Blackwaterfoot. Day 3 Arran is a jewel in Scotland’s scenic crown. The variations in Scotland’s dramatic landscape can all be found on this one Island, giving rise to its name of “Scotland in Miniature”. We will take a scenic drive around the Island to discover its picturesque villages, tall mountains and deep valleys, with included visits to the Heritage Centre and the Isle of Arran Distillery for a tour and tasting. Day 4 Brodick is the Island’s capital and we will pay a visit to Brodick Castle, which houses a collection of paintings, porcelain and furniture. Surrounding the grand baronial castle are beautiful formal gardens, with waterfalls and woodland trails where you may be lucky enough to spot a red squirrel.

Day 5 An early start for Lochranza for the short ferry crossing to Kintyre. Lunchtime is spent in the village of Tarbert, with its pretty harbour on Loch Fyne. This afternoon we continue up the west coast on a beautiful drive to Oban, where we will stay for three nights. Day 6 After breakfast we take the ferry over the Firth of Lorne to Mull, and then drive through Glen More to Fionnphort. From here a foot passenger ferry crosses to Iona. It is a small, fertile crofting island, with just 130 inhabitants. In AD563 Columba and his followers arrived here from Ireland to spread the Gospel in Scotland, and Iona is full of history and heritage, with Christianity at its heart. The Island is reputed to be the burial place of 48 Kings of Scotland, including Macbeth. Day 7 Today is free for you to spend at leisure in Oban, known as “The Gateway to the Isles” and the “Seafood Capital of Scotland”. Climb to McCaig’s Tower for great views across the harbour, visit the War and Peace Museum, or treat yourself to a “wee dram” at the distillery. 2018 marks the Centenary of the final stages and the Armistice of the First World War. Our tour is based in the centre of Ypres, from where we will visit some of the most important battlefield sites and cemeteries, and attend the emotional Last Post Ceremony, held every evening at the Menin Gate. During the War this was the last call for soldiers fighting in the fields outside the gates to head back to the city. Many never returned…

Your Holiday Itinerary Monday We drive to Dover for a crossing by ferry and arrive in Ypres mid-afternoon. We include a visit to the “IN FLANDERS FIELDS MUSEUM”, housed in the ancient Cloth Hall. The Ypres region saw one of the bloodiest battles in history, and now the last witnesses have died, the Museum is more important than ever in telling the story of the Great War in Flanders. Tuesday A local guide will join us for a walking tour of Ypres. Our afternoon is spent visiting the world’s largest British and Commonwealth cemetery, TYNE COT, which remembers 12,000 soldiers, many of whom are unidentified. We also visit the PASSCHENDAELE MEMORIAL MUSEUM 1917, devoted to the Battle of Passchendaele where, in just 100 days, half a million men were killed for only 5 miles gain of ground. Today we will arrange dinner so that you can attend the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate. Wednesday We drive to ARRAS, a town with historic streets and Flemish-style architecture that was completely rebuilt after it was destroyed during the Battle of Arras. We will visit the WELLINGTON QUARRIES. This underground museum has been cleverly created from a warren of chalk caves, 20 metres below the streets of the town, and tells the story of some 24,000 soldiers stationed there. Thursday After breakfast, and before heading home, we drive to the small Belgian town of POPERINGE, or “POPS” as the soldiers called it. Used by the British army as a gateway to the battlefields, the town was used for billeting troops. We visit TALBOT HOUSE, known as ‘TOC H’, a quiet and unique place behind the British lines where men could spend time relaxing, enjoying a beer, meeting friends and writing letters home.

Your Holiday Hotel THE NOVOTEL LEPER CENTRUM is a 3-star superior hotel in the heart of historical Ypres, a short stroll from the main square, Cloth Hall and Menin Gate. £149 single supplement Deposit £75pp Reduction of £15 for National Trust members

This tour encompasses the beautiful scenery of the Ards Peninsula, the spectacular Antrim Coast, and the highlights of Belfast City.

Your Holiday Itinerary Day 1 A taxi will collect you from home and bring you to the coach to join your drivers and fellow passengers. Complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits will be available during the journey to Cumbria, where we will spend a night at the comfortable Crown Hotel in Wetheral, with dinner and breakfast included. Day 2 A leisurely start, crossing the border at Gretna Green and past Dumfries to the small town of Newton Stewart, gateway to the Galloway Hills, where we will have a lunch stop. Then on to Cairnryan, to board the ferry for a two and a half hour crossing to Belfast. Drive to the Stormont Hotel for a 4-night stay. Day 3 Our day in Belfast begins with a guided coach tour to get a flavour of Northern Ireland’s capital and largest city. We will see some of the political murals of the Falls and Shanklin Roads, discovering the story of what has become known as “The Troubles” in recent Irish history. Also along the route will be the Crumlin Road Jail, Belfast City Hall, and the Albert Memorial Clock. We will take a tour of the Stormont Parliament buildings, home to the NI Assembly, and a uniquely striking piece of architecture.

Day 4 Stunning scenery today during a spectacular drive along the Antrim coast. We visit the Old Bushmills Distillery, Ireland’s oldest whiskey producer. An informative guided tour will explain how the precious nectar gets from grain to bottle. We will continue to the World Heritage Site of The Giant’s Causeway. From the Visitor Centre it is a walk of about half a mile (or pay for the shuttle bus) to the amazing basalt stone columns left by volcanic eruptions 60 million years ago (give or take a year or two). Legend has it that they are the stepping stones of the giant Finn McCool! Sturdy shoes and suitable outdoor clothing will be required. Day 5 RMS Titanic was built at the giant Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast in the early 1900s, and TITANIC BELFAST was voted “The World’s Leading Visitor Attraction” in 2016. It is a very impressive state of the art exhibition, with interpretive and interactive galleries that explore the sights, sounds and smells of Titanic, and the evocative stories of the passengers and crew who sailed on her tragic maiden voyage. Later we drive alongside Strangford Lough to Mount Stewart House & Gardens. The 18th century mansion has lavish interiors, and the garden reflects a rich tapestry of design and artistry that was the hallmark of Edith, Lady Londonderry. Day 6 After breakfast we embark on the ferry for Cairnryan, arriving in Scotland early afternoon. We drive to the Crown in Wetheral, pausing in Gretna Green for some souvenir shopping and perhaps a ‘wee dram’. Day 7 No rush today, as we make our way home through Cumbria, Lancashire and the Midlands, reaching the waiting taxis late afternoon/early evening.

It boasts an impressive Roman mosaic in the grounds and is said to be England’s third most haunted building, so we do not recommend this tour to anyone of a nervous disposition! We include an excursion to a top designer outlet, and visit two garden centres for some early Christmas shopping.

In what will be a first for Roadmark Travel, we have decided to venture abroad for a Christmas holiday. We stayed at the Savoy Palace in 2016, and our drivers and guests were impressed by the high standards of food and service at this family-run 4-star hotel close to the centre of Riva del Garda. We are delighted to be returning for what promises to be a super tour, so why not join us for something a little different and experience the charm, beauty and hospitality of the Italian Lakes at Christmas.

This World famous spectacle, traditionally held in the picturesque Bavarian village of Oberammergau every twelve years, will be performed again in 2020. Most of the inhabitants are involved, with hundreds of actors on stage, and a huge choir and orchestra, in one of the most extravagant productions of the Passion Play. Our two-centre holiday will combine the Bavarian Alps with the Black Forest, a land of lush meadows, pine-clad hills, rushing rivers and traditional chocolate box villages. Join us at the world’s largest amateur dramatic performance for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Significant changes are those that involve changing your departure or return date, the location of resort, a change to the main hotel (not single overnight hotels), or tour itinerary changes which involve a main destination being completely eliminated. In the event of such a significant change you can decide either: a) To continue with the holiday as amended or b) To accept an alternative holiday we may offer you with an appropriate increase or reduction in price, or c) To cancel your booking, and receive a full refund of all monies paid by you. 3. IF WE CANCEL YOUR HOLIDAY It is necessary for there to be a minimum number of passengers in order to operate a holiday. This number will vary depending on the tour, and the minimum for each holiday is available from Roadmark Travel on request. If this minimum number is not achieved we reserve the right to cancel the holiday. In this case we will offer you the choice of a full refund of all the monies you have paid to us, or an alternative holiday if one is available. However, we-will not cancel your holiday after the balance date unless: (a) You have not paid for your holiday in full or (b) Your holiday is influenced by events beyond our control such as hostilities, terrorism, political unrest, industrial action, natural disasters, severe weather, technical problems to transport, Governmental action or other circumstance amounting to force majeure. If we have to cancel your holiday The Company is liable only for any monies you have paid to us at the time.
