En forma rápida y casi imperceptible, hemos consumido siete meses de este año 2014 que ha traído para nosotros excelentes noticias referentes a nuestro nivel de participación del mercado nacional de transporte de pasajeros, ya que los primeros siete meses de este año han arrojado un crecimiento sostenido de nuestro volumen de pasajeros transportados versus los transportados en las mismas fechas del año 2013.

Quickly and almost imperceptibly, seven months of 2014 have gone by and have brought us great news about our level of national market share of passenger transportation, as the first seven months of this year have yielded sustained growth in our volume of passengers transported versus the same time in 2013.

Es claro que este crecimiento sostenido no hubiera sido posible sin su preferencia a la hora de elegir en que aerolínea viajar. Por ello queremos agradecerles por este respaldo a un trabajo que hacemos con mucha entrega y cariño todas las áreas que hacen posible brindarle una buena alternativa a la hora de elegir. Queremos informarles también, que seguimos trabajando en mejorar nuestros niveles de conectividad negociando acuerdos interlineales con otras aerolíneas de la región y del mundo, que nos permita ofrecerle una gama más amplia de destinos. Pronto podremos darles noticias sobre ellos.

Fleischman Nuestro Representante en el Mundial Our Representative at the World Cup ¿Como te iniciaste en el mundo deportivo? De chico tenias pasión por los deportes? Desde muy chico me apasionó el deporte, en particular el fútbol. Jugarlo, verlo, oírlo o leerlo. Me inicié en el periodismo deportivo en el año 92 practicando en el programa Ovación de radio El Sol que dirigía Micky Rospigliosi. En TV fue en el 93 en el canal estatal, el programa también se llamaba Ovación.

How did you get started in sports? As a kid did you have a passion for sports? From an early age I became passionate for sports, particularly football. I played, saw, heard and read. I started in sports journalism in ‘92 practicing in the radio program The Sun run byMicky Rospigliosi. On TV, it was on channel 93, the program was called Ovation.

¿Cual era/es tu deporte favorito? El fútbol sin duda; pero en general me gusta mucho también el tenis, atletismo, Fórmula 1 y en general toda la actividad olímpica.

Which was / is your favorite sport? Football certainly; but overall I like tennis, athletics, Formula 1 and in general all Olympic activities.

¿Cuantos mundiales has transmitido? ¿Has ido a todos estos? He transmitido los de Francia 98, Korea - Japón 2002, Alemania 2006, Sudáfrica 2010 y Brasil 2014. Asistí a todos ellos con excepción de K-J 2002.

How many world cups have you reported? You’ve gone to all? I conveyed the France 98, Korea -. Japan 2002, Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 I attended all except KJ 2002.

¿Como se siente ser nuestro representante del Perú en los mundiales? Es una gran responsabilidad, un orgullo y una aspiración profesional siempre. Cada vez la exigencia es mayor por la exigencia que supone ahora la existencia de redes sociales. Es también especialmente emocionante llevar la voz y encabezar las transmisiones para todo el país de eventos de máxima magnitud como estos.

How does it feel to be our representative of Peru at the World Cup? It is a big responsibility, pride and always professional aspiration. Whenever the need is greater now by the requirement q implies the existence of social networks. ¿Que te impactó de este mundial en Brazil? ¿Algo en particular que te pareció increíble? La gran competitividad que van alcanzando las selecciones de todos los continentes, los grandes partidos que hubo, las muchas figuras que destacaron (incluidos los arquerazos que vimos), los escenarios y sin duda, me impactó la forma como el “Maracanazo” se diluyó en la historia. Esa derrota 1/7 ante Alemania enterró aquel episodio e instauró uno nuevo, aún más dramático para los brasileños. ¿Tienes alguna anécdota sobre tu experiencia en este mundial? Haber tenido a mi hijo conmigo fue una gran experiencia. El estuvo acreditado y me ayudó en mis labores además de que fue un gran respaldo emocional sobre todo cuando uno tiene que alejarse de la familia en este tipo de transmisiones. Además fue grato reencontrarme con amigos que uno va cultivando en el tiempo. Pude reencontrarme por ejemplo, con el periodista argentino Juan Carlos Passman, a quién no veía desde Francia 98. ¿Fuiste solo o acompañado al mundial? Como expliqué antes me acompañó mi hijo Kevin de 13 años y fue una maravillosa vivencia compartir con él tan mágica experiencia. ¿Quien consideras ha sido el mejor jugador peruano de futbol? ¿Porque? A nivel de selección el más importante de todos fue Teófilo Cubillas por sus 3 mundiales y 10 goles anotados. A nivel de clubes, sin duda, Pizarro ha hecho la carrera más destacada. Es en este sentido y por capacidad, logros individuales y colectivos y vigencia en el más alto nivel, el mejor de todos los futbolistas peruanos en la historia.

Which impressed you in this World Cup in Brazil? Anything in particular you found amazing? The very competitiveness from every continent, the major parties, and the many figures highlighted (including great goalies), scenarios and it certainly struck me how the “Maracana” was diluted in history. That defeat in the seventh against Germany buried an episode and established a new, even more dramatic for the Brazilians. Do you have a story about your experiences in this world? Having had my son with me was a great experience. He was credited and helped me in my work plus q was a great emotional support especially when one has q away from the family in such transmissions. Who do you consider has been the best Peruvian soccer player? Why? At the level of the most important of all was Teofilo Cubillas selection for his 3 World Cup and 10 goals scored. At club level definitely Pizarro has made the most outstanding career. It is in this sense and ability, individual and collective achievements and effective at the highest level, best of all Peruvian footballers in history.

¿En tu hogar conversas mucho de futbol con tus hijos? Con mi hijo Kevin sí, con mis dos hijas, sólo cuando se juega el mundial. ¿Que opinas de los deportistas peruanos. Como ves su futuro? En vías de mejorar pero todavía lejos de la más alta competencia. En nuestro país, el estado nunca ha asumido su responsabilidad en el aspecto deportivo. No hay política definida, no hay masificación aún, no hay incentivos para la inversión privada, no hay políticas que eviten que la universidad sea el “cementerio” de los deportistas. Hay mucho por hacer y ojalá los Panamericanos 2019 en Lima sirvan de motivación para que por fin el estado asuma su responsabilidad en este tema. ¿Si pudieras tomar café con 2 deportistas que han existido, quienes serían y porque? Hay muchos deportistas con los que me gustaría compartir un café y conversar. No podría mencionar sólo a dos pero mencionare a algunos que serían de mi preferencia: Jesse Owens atleta estadounidense por su brillante olimpiada en Berlín 36; Nadia Comaneci, la fantástica gimnasta rumana de Montreal 76; Michael Jordan a quién considero el mejor basketbolista de la historia; la gran saltadora de pértiga rusa Yelena Isinbayeva y claro futbolistas como Messi, Ronaldinho Gaucho y el director técnico Guardiola, un revolucionario. ¿Eres muy carismático y a la gente les encanta verte en la televisión. Eres tímido? Sí, mi naturaleza es más bien tímida; pero la formación profesional, el paso por la universidad, la experiencia primero en radio me fueron soltando. Ahora, luego de 22 años de carrera en radio y TV siento absoluta soltura y serenidad pero fuera de los medios, soy una persona tímida. ¿Tu trabajo de comentarista parece lo haces lucir fácil, pero el realidad debe ser bien difícil. Como te preparas? Estando informado todos los días, todo el día. Tengo por la pasión desde niño un gran bagaje de conocimientos e información de temas deportivos en la cabeza, pero el fútbol y el deporte evolucionan, se modernizan y además, están insertos en un mundo cada vez más dinámico. Por eso intento estar informado siempre y en todos los temas.

In your home do you talk much about football with your kids? With my son Kevin yes, with my two daughters, only when the World Cup plays. What do you think of Peruvian athletes? How do you see their future? On the mend but still far from the highest in competence. In our country, the state has never taken responsibility for the sport image. No definite policy, no mass yet, there are no incentives for private investment, no policy and avoiding college is the “graveyard” for athletes. Plenty to do and hopefully the 2019 Pan American in Lima serve as motivation for the state to finally take responsibility in this matter. If you could have coffee with 2 athletes who ever lived, who would they be and why? There are many athletes with whom I would like to share a coffee and chat. I could not name just two but will mention some which would be my preference: American athlete Jesse Owens for his brilliant Olympic performance in Berlin 36; Nadia Comaneci, the Romanian gymnast fantastic Montreal 76; Michael Jordan who is considered the best basketball player in history; the great Russian pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva and clearly players like Messi, Ronaldinho Gaucho and coach Guardiola, a revolutionary. You’re very charismatic and people love watching you on TV. Are you shy? Yes, my nature is rather shy; but the training, the time at university, the first radio experience I was dropping. Now, after 22 year career in radio and TV feel absolute ease and serenity but outside the media, I am a shy person. You make your work seem so easy, but the reality is it must be very difficult. How do you prepare? Being reported on every day, all day. I have a passion since childhood for a great deal of knowledge and information about sports subjects, but football and sport evolution, are embedded in an increasingly dynamic world. So I always try to be informed and in all subjects.

¿Que es lo más difícil de tu trabajo? A veces los horarios, saber a que hora se empieza pero no a que hora se acaba; de todos modos, cuando uno tiene la bendición de trabajar en algo que le agrada y apasiona, no se sienten mucho las dificultades porque son más fuertes las satisfacciones. ¿En los veranos limeños, te quedas en Lima o eres playero? Soy un asiduo veraneante en las playas de Ancón. Mis mejores recuerdos de niñez y juventud tienen que ver con ese maravilloso balneario. ¿A donde ha sido tu último viaje de diversión con la familia dentro del Perú? A la selva, nos internamos en un lugar que quedaba a una hora de trayecto por el río Amazonas partiendo desde Iquitos y fue una experiencia fascinante permanecer lejos de la civilización y rodeados de tanta naturaleza. ¿Cuál es tu plato de comida peruana favorito? Varios me encanta el lomo saltado, el ají de gallina, la carapulcra, el tacu tacu, etc; y mi esposa los prepara muy bien. ¿Que planes tienes para el futuro? Nunca me trazo planes a largo plazo, las cosas se van dando en la medida en que van llegando. Tengo proyectos empresariales que están en marcha y por supuesto continuar con mi labor periodística deportiva que me apasiona. Y por supuesto, con la ayuda de Di-s, seguir disfrutando de mi familia. ¿Qué consejo le darías a los jóvenes peruanos que quieren dedicarse al deporte y sobresalir? Que tengan grandes ambiciones. Que se planteen grandes retos. Que no le den lugar nunca al conformismo. Que sepan que el primer rival al que hay que vencer, es a uno mismo. En el deporte, como en la vida, lo único que nunca debe dejarse de hacer, es luchar. The hardest thing about your job? Some times, when you start time is running out; anyway, when one is blessed to work on something you like and are passionate about, the satisfaction is strong. Lima in summer, do you stay or go to the beach? I am a frequent vacationer of the beach in Ancon. My best memories of childhood and youth have to do with this wonderful location. Where was your last trip with family within Peru? In the jungle, we went into a place q was an hour ride down the Amazon River from Iquitos starting was a fascinating experience and stay away from civilization and surrounded by so much nature. Which is your favorite dish of Peruvian food? I love several: the lomo saltado, aji de gallina, carapulcra the tacu tacu, etc; and my wife prepares them very well. Which are your future plans? I never outline long-term plans; things are giving in the extent they arrive. I have business projects that are underway and of course to continue my sports journalism which I am passionate about. And of course, with the help of G-d, continue to enjoy my family. What advice would you give to young Peruvians who want to engage in sport and excel? To have great ambition. Great challenges will arise. Do not accept conformism. To know the first opponent to overcome is oneself. In sports, as in life, all that should never be left to do is fight.

I took a taxi at 5:47 am, the Google Now application had told me from my smartphone to leave my house at that time and it would take me 23 minutes to get to the airport and one hour before taking off on my flight. I’m not sure how they do it but it turned out well. como el mar de nubes reventaba en las primeras estribaciones de los andes. El avión cruzó la cordillera de oeste a este y viró hacia babor enrumbando hacia la selva norte, dejando ver a la izquierda el imponente Yerupajá, la segunda montaña más alta del Perú, y a continuación toda la cordillera Blanca. Aterrizamos en el aeropuerto Cadete FAP Guillermo del Castillo Paredes, que así se llama, a la hora programada. Me hospedé en el hotel Boca Ratón en pleno centro de la ciudad y el único con ascensor de toda la provincia. Dediqué la mañana a caminar por la ciudad, cosa que siempre hago al llegar una ciudad nueva, de esta manera siento que conozco mejor un lugar, caminado sus calles, escuchando su acento, respirando su aire, observando a su gente. Así llegué al mercado local, sitio ideal para tener contacto con el corazón de toda localidad. Me perdí por sus pasillos, conocí las frutas típicas de la zona y me senté en un local a tomar un jugo de cocona mientras pasaban un partido del mundial en la TV. Tarapoto es una ciudad vibrante, calurosa, en donde se respira el movimiento económico de la región San Martín. Llena de motos y motokares, recorrer sus calles es divertido para la vista y el oído. Para almorzar no podía dejar de ir a alguno de los clásicos restaurantes de comida local, donde se ofrecen lo platillos

The aircraft crossed the mountains from west to east and turned to port to the northern jungle enroute, revealing the imposing left Yerupajá, the second highest mountain in Peru, and then the whole Cordillera Blanca. We landed at Cadete FAP Guillermo del Castillo Paredes Airport, at the scheduled time. I stayed at the Boca Raton hotel in the heart of the city and the only one with an elevator in the whole province. I spent the morning walking around the city, which I always do when arriving at a new city, so I get a better feel of the place while getting to know it better, walking the streets, listening to the accent, breathing its air, watching its people. So I arrived at the local market, ideal for contact with the heart of every town site. I got lost in its many corridors, I saw the typical fruits of the area and sat on a local stand to have a cocona juice while viewing a game from the world cup on TV. Tarapoto is a vibrant, hot city, where the economic movement of the San Martín region breathes.Streets full of “Motokares” and bikes and walking the streets is fun for the eye and ear. For lunch I could not pass up going to any of the classic local food restaurants, where dishes are typical of the Amazon. A delight of exotic flavors. At three in the afternoon I went to check in at the hotel, Martin Zamora, the tour operator, one

A las tres de la tarde me pasaron a recoger al hotel, la gente del operador turístico Martín Zamora, una de las mejores agencias de Tarapoto, y luego de pasar por otros tres hoteles recogiendo a otros pasajeros, tomamos dirección norte hacia el poblado de Lamas. A la media hora de haber dejado el centro de la ciudad llegamos a Lamas, “la ciudad de los tres pisos”, como la bautizó Antonio Raymondi. La llaman así por quedar en la ladera de una montaña y tener tres sectores claramente definidos de arriba a abajo. Lamas, ciudad quechuahablante, es una rareza andina enclavada en la selva. Los orígenes de sus pobladores se remontan a una migración de un grupo de chankas de la zona de la sierra central luego de haber sido vencidos por el ejército inca. Sus costumbres y folklore son su mayor riqueza y su mayor orgullo. Tuvimos la oportunidad de conocer un poco de sus bailes y sus historias cuando visitamos la zona baja de la ciudad, la más antigua donde viven los descendientes de los pobladores originales. Es muy curioso encontrar un pueblo de características serranas, el quechua y la arquitectura, en una zona totalmente amazónica. Pero acaso lo más llamativo de este poblado lleno de contrastes y sorpresas es

Within half an hour of leaving the city center we got to Lamas, “the city of the three-stories” as christened by Antonio Raimondi. The so called term because of its location on the side of a mountain and having three distinct sectors from top to bottom. Lamas, Quechua-speaking city, is an Andean rarity surrounded by jungle. The origins of its inhabitants back to a migration of a group of chankas area of the central highlands after being conquered by the Inca army. Their customs and folklore are its greatest asset and its greatest pride. We had the opportunity to meet some of their dances and their stories when we visited the lower area of the city, the oldest where the descendants of the original settlers still live. It is curious to find highland village characteristics, Quechua and architecture in a completely Amazon setting. But perhaps most striking about this town full of contrasts and surprises is El Castillo. In the highest part of the city built on bedrock, looking over the valley of the Mayo River, like the Rhine Valley, an imposing medieval castle was raised. El Castillo. En la parte más alta de la ciudad construido sobre un lecho de roca, mirando al valle del río Mayo, como si fuera el valle del Rin, se eleva un imponente castillo medieval. La construcción, réplica de los castillos de su Italia natal, posee torreones, murallas, puentes y todo lo que cualquier castillo de cuento de hadas se precie en tener. Su visita es obligatoria, y realmente deja boquiabiertos a los visitantes. A la mañana siguiente, después del desayuno, y de preparar mi mochila para la excursión, me embarqué con otros viajeros en la movilidad de la agencia. Nuestro guía, esta vez era Julio, nos fue explicando el recorrido de la mítica carretera Marginal de la Selva, llamada hoy carretera Arquitecto Fernando Belaunde, vía que recorre gran parte de la selva norte. La escenografía es impresionante, de una belleza sin igual. Nuestro rumbo, hacia el sur, nos condujo por puentes que cruzan el río Mayo, cultivos de tabaco y frutales, atravesando un abra y llegando al valle del río Huallaga. Bajando la montaña llegamos a un desvío que al tomarlo nos llevó, por una carretera afirmada, a Puerto López. En este embarcadero en el Huallaga opera una balsa a motor que sirve para

bridges and everything any fairytale castle boasts having. The visit is mandatory, and really leaves visitors speechless. The next morning, after breakfast and preparing my bag for the tour, I embarked with fellow travelers in the mobility of the agency. Our guide this time was Julio, we were exploring the route of the legendary Marginal Jungle Highway, now called Architect Fernando Belaunde road, pathway that runs along most of the northern forest. The scenery is breathtaking, a beauty. Our course to the south, led us through bridges crossing the river May, snuff and fruit crops, crossing a pass and arriving at Huallaga river valley. Down the mountain we got to take a detour that took us through a dirt road to Puerto Lopez. This pier on a raft Huallaga motor used to carry passengers and vehicles on the other side of the river still operates. We boarded the boat and the rider drove to the right bank, which went back up to our van to continue the route to El Sauce. We take the road that zigzags up the side of a hill, revealing a majestic view of the valley. At the highest point there is a viewpoint that welcomes us to the district and Sauce is mandatory stop for views of the beautiful landscape and selfies of

transportar pasajeros y vehículos a la otra orilla del río. Abordamos la embarcación y el motorista nos condujo a la margen derecha, donde volvimos a subir a nuestra van para continuar la ruta hacia El Sauce. Tomamos la carretera que sube zigzagueando por la ladera de una colina, revelando una majestuosa vista del valle. En el punto más alto existe un mirador que nos da la bienvenida al distrito del Sauce y es parada obligatoria para tomar vistas del bello paisaje y los selfies de rigor. La trocha continúa entre árboles pasando junto a desfiladeros hasta que llega a su destino, la hermosísima Laguna Azul. Esta carretera bordea el lago y pasando por el pueblo de El Sauce, seguimos hasta llegar al fundo Angaíza. En el fundo, situado a orillas del lago, nos recibieron con un sabroso licor de uvachado, uno de los tragos típicos de la zona, y nos indicaron que caminaramos al muelle para abordar la lancha. Subimos a esta y Kevin, nuestro anfitrión y operario de la embarcación se puso a los mandos del motor, llevándonos por en medio del lago, en un paseo relajante y muy recomendable. El guía nos iba comentando las historias del lugar, las leyendas, así como las diferentes especies de

This road runs along the lake and through the village of El Sauce, continue until you reach the Angaíza farm. A orillas de la Laguna Azul, se han construido recreos y hospedajes muy agradables, en donde se ofrece sabrosa comida, relax y contacto con la naturaleza. De vuelta en el fundo tuvimos la oportunidad de disfrutar de un almuerzo campestre en el comedor. Luego de un refrescante chapuzón en el lago y de una reparadora siesta en hamaca, tomamos el camino de regreso, mientras oíamos por la radio las incidencias del partido por la copa del mundo entre Estados Unidos y Ghana. Al día siguiente visitamos la famosa catarata de Ahuashiyacu. Esta caída de agua, a veinte minutos de Tarapoto, es el atractivo más conocido de la zona cercana a la ciudad. De 15 metros de alto, el salto de agua, nos invita a zambullirnos en la piscina natural que se forma debajo de él. A Ahuashiyacu se llega por la carretera Tarapoto - Yurimaguas, en el kilómetro 14 nos detenemos en la zona de estacionamiento y caminamos por una trocha que, entre escalinatas, enormes árboles, orquídeas y mariposas, nos conduce a la catarata. Todo es bellísimo en estas montañas de la selva alta. Más tarde desde el hotel Tucan Suites, quizás el más bonito de Tarapoto, nos llevaron al Pumarinri Amazon Lodge, un albergue a orillas del Huallaga. En aquel hospedaje, enclavado en la parte en que el bajo Huallaga se encañona, tuvimos la oportunidad de almorzar una fresquísima tilapia criada en el mismo lodge. “Tengo que regresar a quedarme unos días en este lugar” fue lo que pensaba en el recorrido de vuelta. Aquella noche tomé el vuelo de Peruvian para volver a la capital. Volveré. the famous Ahuashiyacu waterfall. Es una sopa preparada a base de maní molido o licuado, gallina de chacra, yuca, maíz, hoja de culantro, ajo, sal y comino.

It is a soup made from ground or liquefied peanut, farm hen, cassava, corn, coriander leaf, garlic, salt and cumin.

Ingredientes (6 personas): 1 gallina criolla (en presas) 1/4 Kg. de maíz suave molido 1/4 Kg. de maní molido 2 cucharaditas de “mishquina” 2 cucharaditas de ajo molido 3 cucharadas de cebolla picada orégano, sal, pimienta, comino al gusto

Ingredients (for 6 people): 1 chicken 1/4 pound of ground sweet corn 1/4 pound of ground peanuts 2 teaspoons “mishquina” 2 teaspoons minced garlic 3 tablespoons chopped onion oregano, salt, pepper, cumin to taste

Preparación: Se sancochan las presas de gallina en una olla. Luego, se agrega el maní y maíz molido (disuelto en agua fría), y se bate hasta hacer una sola mezcla. Si está muy espeso, se agrega un poco de agua. En una sartén aparte, se fríe la “mishquina”, el ajo y la cebolla que se agrega a la olla. Luego, se añade sal, comino y orégano al gusto, si se desea un poquito de pimienta. Batir la sopa a cada instante, para evitar que se derrame al hervir. Se sirve en platos hondos, acompañado de arroz o plátanos.

In a separate pan, the “mishquina”, garlic and onion to add to the frying pan. Then, salt, cumin and oregano to taste is added, a little pepper if desired. Whisk the soup constantly, to prevent boiling over. Serve in bowls with rice and plantains.

Ahuashiyacu Ahuashiyaco Falls

pocos minutos de la ciudad de Tarapoto, en el distrito de La Banda de Shilcayo, se encuentra esta maravilla natural: la catarata de Ahuashiyacu. Lugar imprescindible para darse un chapuzón, la poza que forma la catarata llega a tener tres metros de profundidad en aguas prístinas y transparentes. Una trocha de poco más 300 metros, que se recorren en diez minutos, nos conducen a la caída de agua. El lugar posee cambiadores, baños y hasta un quiosco donde poder comer y tomarse un infaltable trago típico. La espectacular caída de agua, en plena cordillera de La Escalera, es también un paraíso natural de plantas como las orquídeas, los helechos y los grandes árboles de la selva alta. En lo que se refiere a fauna, abundan las coloridas mariposas, las ranas y aves típicas de la ceja de selva como el tucán, el aguilucho, diferentes tipos de colibrís y el afamado gallito de las rocas, ave nacional del Perú. Así que, cuando visiten Tarapoto, la ciudad de las palmeras, no olviden llevar la toalla y ropa de baño y tomar la movilidad hasta este precioso atractivo de la selva peruana. No se arrepentirán.

HISTORIA El departamento habitado por los Aymara, comercializaban productos costeros como el ají, el pescado y los mariscos. A la llegada de los españoles en el siglo XVI, se difundió el cultivo de la vid. Tacna conserva casas con típicos techos de mojinete y en sus parques proliferan monumentos, bustos y otros elementos en alusión a los héroes peruanos que lucharon en las guerras de la Independencia (1821-1824) y del Pacífico (18791883). La ciudad de Tacna recibió la denominación de “Ciudad Heroica” en el año 1828. Un atractivo son los petroglifos de Miculla (cerca de 500), que han sido labrados en bajorrelieve en las rocas de la zona y se calcula que tienen unos 1500 años de antigüedad.

HISTORY Tacna was formerly inhabited by Aymara populations, which traded diverse coastal products such as pepper, fish and shellfish. Upon arrival of the Spanish in the sixteenth century, the cultivation of the vine spread, and now you can visit the vineyards, which produce excellent wines and Pisco. Tacna preserves its typical houses with slanted roofs, avenues, parks, monuments, busts and other reminders of Peruvian heroes who fought in the war of independence (1821-1824) and the Pacific War (1879 -1883). LOCATION The department of Piura is located in the north of the country, comprising the coast, highlands and jungle. To the north are Tumbes and Ecuador; south is Lambayeque, Cajamarca to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west.

HISTORIA Piura, alegre y cantarina, fue la primera ciudad fundada en Perú por Francisco Pizarro en 1532. A 12 km de la ciudad se encuentra Catacaos, célebre por sus artesanías de paja y algodón, objetos en filigrana de oro y plata y exquisitos restaurantes. HISTORIA La zona estuvo antiguamente poblada por diferentes grupos como los Cocama, Huitoto, y Bora; posteriormente, misioneros jesuitas fundaron la ciudad. Fue a fines del siglo XIX que Iquitos vivió su máximo apogeo con la explotación del caucho. La bonanza económica se tradujo en lujosos edificios como el Hotel Palace, de estilo Art Noveau y la Casa de Fierro, diseñada por el famoso arquitecto francés Gustave Eiffel. Contrastando con estas construcciones, las rústicas casas del barrio de Belén descansan sobre balsas y pilotes para protegerse de la creciente del río. Una de las máximas atracciones es navegar por ríos y lagos, así como gozar de sus hermosas playas. La Reserva Nacional Pacaya-Samiria (2 080.000 ha), la más extensa del país, se encuentra a 183 km de la ciudad y es refugio de numerosas especies de animales y plantas, muchas de ellas en peligro de extinción como la tortuga charapa, la nutria gigante de río, el caimán negro y el delfín de río. Por otro lado, la Reserva Nacional Allpahuayo-Mishana (58.000 hectáreas), protege la mayor concentración de bosques de arena blanca o “varillales” conocida en la Amazonía peruana. Este es uno de los mejores destinos para la observación de aves.

HISTORY The area was formerly populated by different groups such as Cocama Huitoto, and Bora. The Jesuit missionaries founded the city. It was in the late nineteenth century when Iquitos experienced its peak with rubber tapping. The economic boom resulted in luxurious buildings such as the Palace Hotel Art Nouveau style and the Iron House, designed by the famous French architect Gustave Eiffel. Homes in the Belen neighborhood are built on rafts and piles to protect against high water tides. One of the top attractions is to navigate rivers and lakes. The Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve (2,080,000 ha), the largest in the country, is located 183 km from the city and is home to numerous species of animals and plants, many of them endangered like the Charapa Tortoise, the giant river otter, the black caiman and the river dolphin. On the other hand, the Allpahuayo Mishana (58,000 hectares) protects the largest concentration of white sand forests or “varillales” known in the Peruvian Amazon. This is one of the best places for bird watching.

UBICACIÓN Tarapoto, conocida como la “Ciudad de las Palmeras”, es un centro comercial próspero en el norte de Perú, a una hora en avión desde Lima, situada en la provincia de San Martín de la Región San Martín, ubicado en la meseta de la selva alta al este de lo que es conocida como la selva baja. Aunque Moyobamba es la capital de la región, Tarapoto es la ciudad más grande de la región, y está relacionado con el Alto Amazonas y la histórica ciudad de Yurimaguas por una carretera trasandina relativamente bien conservada y recién pavimentada.

LOCATION Tarapoto, known as the “City of Palms”, is a thriving commercial hub in northern Peru, an hour by plane from Lima, situated in the San Martín Province of the San Martín Region, located in the high jungle plateau to the east of what is known as the selva baja (low jungle). Although Moyobamba is the capital of the region, Tarapoto is the region’s largest city, and is linked to the Upper Amazon and the historic city of Yurimaguas by a relatively well-maintained newly paved (2008–2009) transandean highway.

Finalmente, estableciéndose en los valles de los ríos Cumbaza Mayo y en lo que hoy es el departamento de San Martín. Fundado en 14 de Septiembre de 1906 Tarapoto es el centro turístico y comercial de esta parte del noreste de Perú.

HISTORY Tarapoto was founded August 20, 1782 by the Spanish bishop Baltazar Jaime Martínez de Compagnon y Bujanda. Its beginnings date back to the explorations of the Pocras and Chancas (old cultures of the Ayacucho region) who, when being conquered by the Inca Empire, headed a revolution led by the commander Ancohallo; a revolt that, when defeated, forced their tribal members to escape from terrible Inca vengeance. Eventually settling down in the valleys of the Mayo and Cumbaza rivers in what is now the San Martin department. Founded September 14, 1906, Tarapoto is the main tourist and commercial hub of this part of northeastern Peru.

Pucallpa

UBICACIÓN Pucallpa, La Tierra colorada, es una ciudad de la parte centro-oriental del Perú, capital de la Región Ucayali. Se sitúa en el llano amazónico, a la margen izquierda del río Ucayali.

LOCATION Pucallpa, meaning red earth, is a city in east-central Peru, capital of the Ucayali region. It is situated in the Amazonian plain, on the left bank of the Ucayali River.

HISTORIA Pucallpa se destaca por un desarrollo rápido y sencillo. Sin embargo, su sacrificio social pudo desarrollarse más rápido debido a la falta de ayuda de otros. Antes de la colonización de América, toda la selva era habitada por nativos. Pucallpa se originó en la selva central allí existía la etnia Shipibo-Konibo, uno de los grupos indígenas del oriente peruano. Los primeros viajes que se registraron hacia la localidad fueron los realizados por los sacerdotes pertenecientes a la Iglesia Católica. Mucho tiempo después, llegó la Era del Caucho y, con ella, la fundación de Pucallpa el 13 de octubre de 1888, tiempo después se crearon zonas aledañas que anexaron su expansión a la nueva ciudad.

HISTORY Pucallpa has recently been characterized by a rapid and very simple growth. Before the colonization of America, the whole jungle was inhabited by various groups of natives. Pucallpa originated in the central jungle where the Shipibo-Konibo tribe existed, one of the many indigenous groups of eastern Peru. The first trips there were performed by priests belonging to the Catholic Church. Eventually the Age of Rubber finally arrived and with it, the foundation of Pucallpa on October 13, 1888.

La Paz - Bolivia

La ciudad de La Paz está asentada a las riberas del río Choqueyapu, que la cruza de norte a sur, y de pequeños ríos que nacen en las laderas altas y depositan sus aguas a lo largo del trayecto de este río que desemboca hacia el norte Boliviano.
