About U

Poole Town Ladies are a Charter Standard Club. For the third season, our first team will be competing in the FA Women’s National League South West Division One. Our first team offers the highest standard of women’s football in Dorset.

The FA WNL South West Division One is equivalent to League Two in the men’s competition. Our reserves compete in the Dorset Women’s League.

Last Out Dorset County Women’s Cup Poole Town vs Merley Cobham With Poole Town facing another home game, we welcomed back many old faces and friends in the form of Merley Cobham.

Early action saw a chance to Faye within the first 30 seconds, breaking in off the wing with the shot narrowly missing the target.

This set the tone of the game, with some beautifully composed build up play leading to sustained chance after chance.

Merley were not without their own threat with former player, Emily May-Smith proving to be electric on the counter.

After another period of heavy pressure, Poole Town finally broke the deadlock around the half hour mark with Danni Maidment scoring a beauty from the left hand side of the pitch, lobbing the keeper with exact precision. A stunning goal !!

Shortly after, Poole profited again with great interplay leading to Kitty Norman finishing from outside of the area with a composed shot to the bottom left corner, leaving the keeper stranded.

HT: 2-0 The second half came and again Poole were in the ascendency. 16 year old Tiara Cheney setting the tempo after a switch to the left hand wing, with a cheeky cut inside and a cracking shot which unfortunately rebounded off the woodwork.

It seemed like the floodgates would open, but Merley defended resolutely and mere millimeters being the difference at times.

Finally, Sacha Paynter scored a beautiful lob from outside of the area. The ball was chipped into Sacha who brought the ball down with one touch, swivelled and superbly lobbed the keeper - what a finish !

Merley defended to the death and great credit must be given to their spirit and attitude.

A dominant performance from Poole who are starting to show real threat and their true potential.

FT: 3-0 Our Dorset team received an Away Win to set up a Poole Town vs Poole Town semi final.

There is incredible team spirit in the camp and a real desire to deliver what our performances deserve.

You’ve played in midfield and as striker, which is your preferred playing position and why?

I love playing as a number 10, just behind the striker. I like playing the through balls and also getting on the end of cut backs. I feel more involved and challenged whenever playing in and around the middle of the park.

2. Nickname To most it’s Sach, my mum and Dad call me Lo (but have no idea why) and Tiff calls me Mel B đ&#x;¤ˇđ&#x;?źâ€?♀ď¸?đ&#x;˜… 3. Which team do you support?

What’s your greatest ever goal and why?

Scored a hattrick in the FA Cup against New Forest Ladies a few years ago, T’d the ball up and over a defender then hit it first time on the volley from just outside the box... it went top top bins!

One that always sticks in my mind.

6. Who’s your sorting idol and why?

Always loved Ronaldinho growing up; his skill and vision was just different class. Literally never knew what he was gonna do next!

7. What’s your greatest sporting achievement?

Being selected for England Talent Camps and also playing and scoring over in the States (Chicago)

What advice would you give to any aspiring young player?

Always work hard.... a favourite quote of mine: “Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard�

Youth Teams

Details for the U15 team • 14th December 2019 The u15 Girls won 2-0 against Wool and Winfrith . Played so well, a complete team performance where they demonstrated great skills and tactical awareness. Goalscorers were Holly and Summer.

• 4th January 2020 U15 Girls won 5-1 at Dorchester. Another complete performance, so much quality on the ball.

Excellent all round team performance. Goalscorers were Kady 1 and Leah 4 • 11th January 2020 The U15 girls put in another fantastic team performance again drawing 2-2 with Redlands Rebels, who had previously won all 7 matches. Should of won it really hit the post twice and their GK made 3 great saves.Goalscorer’s were Poppy and Kady.

Details for the U18 team • Some brilliant football on display in recent matches and the progression the players are making is amazing - so much so, that we are starting to see a number breaking into our FA Women’s National League side which is testament to the superb development path in place at the club.

Young Girls Teams We are looking to set up the following age groups: • U7 - School Years 1 and 2 • U9 - School Years 3 and 4 • U11 - School Years 5 and 6 All sessions are delivered by FA qualified coaches, providing a safe place for girls to try football for the first time and develop key skills. Our ethos is for girls to have fun, make new friends and enjoy playing football.

Training will take place on Saturday mornings at Haymoor Junior School 10-11.30, commencing 21st September.
