Our first team offers the highest standard of women’s football in Dorset.

The FA WNL South West Division One is equivalent to League Two in the men’s competition. Our reserves compete in the Dorset Women’s League.

Last Out In the 2nd round qualifier of the Women’s FA Cup, the ladies faced the short journey across the New Forest to face Winchester City Flyers. Having drawn 2-2 in a pre season friendly, the game was sure to be a close encounter with some quality football on display.

As the game kicked off, there was some steady football from both teams with both defences standing resolute. It was Poole who carved out a few early chances only to thwarted by the Winchester keeper. As Poole continued to press, the first goal soon came in the 20th minute. A magnificently drilled corner from Katie Marshallsay was met with the firm head of Danni Maidment who powered past the keeper from 6 yards. Within a minute of the goal, the ball was thread through to former Poole striker, Hollie Agombar, who blasted from outside the box into the top corner of the goals - what a rocket to equalise!!

Undeterred, Poole continued to maintain their shape and played some neat passing triangles to keep the pressure on Winchester. On 27 mins, the magnificent Faye Hawkins latched onto a neat through ball from midfield to calmly slot past the advancing keeper.

Shortly before half time, as Winchester pushed through the middle, Winchester were awarded a penalty following a trip in box. Once again, our superb shot stopper Sam Chrippes was formidable, making a flying save to keep the ball out - that’s 3/3 penalty saves this season, simply awesome !! Half time and the score remained 1-2.

Second half, ladies came out composed and calm on the ball, but after a quick steal in midfield, Winchester quickly broke for Libby O’Dell to equalise - this was turning into a magnificent match for the neutral.

About U

Poole Town Ladies are a Charter Standard Club. For the third season, our first team will be competing in the FA Women’s National League South West Division One.

Midway through the second half, it was Poole who were awarded a penalty following a trip in the box.

Up stepped young Katie Marshallsay who shot powerfully, but her shot was equally matched by the brilliant Winchester keeper to keep the scores level.

The match continued to flow from end to end and could have gone either way. Following another tremendous run by the hard working Faye, a heavy collision with the Winchester keeper saw the game delayed for some time as both players were thoroughly checked - fortunately both were well enough to continue. During the delay, Poole came into a huddle to keep their composure and drive each other on to secure the winner which their efforts deserved. The team talk paid huge dividends as in the 80th minute, the ball was looping high in midfield when the brilliant Kitty Norman won a terrific header. The ball was powered forward for Faye to run onto, lifting it over the oncoming keeper to score a magnificent winner.

Final score and the Dolphins progressed into the next round of the FA cup where they will face either Southampton FC or Buckland Athletic.

We have been playing some beautiful football without reward.

Firstly I’d like to say a huge thank you to New Milton Town FC for kindly hosting the match - it’s always great to play under the floodlights, here’s hoping it’s another cracker.

In recent league games we have been playing some beautiful football without reward. But knowing the strength of characters in this team we will keep fighting until we overcome that hurdle. I am of the genuine belief that once we have some points on the board, more will quickly follow. We had a great win in the FA cup and we’ll be looking to build on that and continue the good run.

This evening we welcome Southampton FC to New Milton Town, who have kindly hosted the match. Even though some recent results haven't gone the way we had hoped or even deserved, the vibe and positivity around the club is great and we look to push on following our terrific FA cup win.

Southampton are looking like early favourites for winning the league but I really do believe in the squad we have - we have some truly talented players. I believe that at our best, we can beat any team in this league and I'm hoping tonight we can prove that. Enjoy the game everyone!

You’ve swapped the Red & White of Southampton Girls & Ladies for Poole Town, what made you change?

I needed a change, Saints was an amazing club and I love the girls there but all good things have to come to an end. I have enjoyed being part of Poole Town so far and all the girls are really welcoming. I look forward to the rest of the season.

How are you finding the transition so far?

The transition was really easy, it’s a lot less time to travel to training and the team are really lovely and supportive to each other which is really good to see.

What are your aspirations for the season ?

I just want this season to be about playing football and having a laugh. We win and lose as a team, just hope we win more than what we lose.. haha!

Young Girls Teams We are looking to set up the following age groups: • U7 - School Years 1 and 2 • U9 - School Years 3 and 4 • U11 - School Years 5 and 6 All sessions are delivered by FA qualified coaches, providing a safe place for girls to try football for the first time and develop key skills. Our ethos is for girls to have fun, make

new friends and enjoy playing football.

Training will take place on Saturday mornings at Haymoor Junior School 10-11.30, commencing 21st September.

History of the Club: Southampton FC Women was formed in 2017 following on from the club being awarded a Tier 1 Regional Talent Club licence from The FA in 2016. The squad is integrated into the Football Development & Support Centre, based at Staplewood Campus which is also home to the club’s Premier League men’s side and world-famous Academy.

Marieanne Spacey-Cale MBE was appointed as Head Coach/ Head of Girls’ & Women’s Football in July 2018; as a UEFA Pro License holder, with extensive playing experience at the very top of the women's game and 91 caps for England Women, Marieanne is perfectly positioned to further Saints ambition to continue producing home-grown international standard female players, as well as achieving Southampton FC’s future goal of competing in the FA Women’s Championship in the coming years.
