Our first team offers the highest standard of women’s football in Dorset. The FAWNL South West Division One is equivalent to League Two in the men’s competition. Our reserves compete in the Dorset Women’s League.

Last Out Dorset Women's League Poole Town vs Broadstone (Friendly) Last week was our last pre-season friendly game, and what a way to end it in!

Playing our final game of pre-season against Broadstone, it was naturally the perfect way to go into our first league game against Bridport on the 4th October. Broadstone are a strong team and in the Dorset league are always amongst the teams in and around the top of the league; so to go out and win 6-1 away from home against a strong team shows how the girls are playing.

From the first whistle the ladies pressed Broadstone while they had possession, not giving them any time on the ball. This shocked them, maybe not expecting the girls to come out with such a high intensity.

At the end of the first half the difference between the two teams was evident, winning 3-1 their dominance was showing.

In the second half the ladies weren’t planning on slowing down, again from the whistle they were pressing out of possession. Winning the ball back before countering quickly, not allowing Broadstone to get back into shape. Another three goals from the ladies before the full time whistle ended a fantastic game of football.

About U

Poole Town Ladies are a Charter Standard Club. For the fourth season, our first team will be competing in the FA Women’s National League South West Division One.

FAWNL On the road for their first away match, Poole travelled to Exeter and started the match in emphatic style.

After just 5 minutes, Poole took the lead thanks to our lethal left back, Danni Maidment who saw the keeper slightly off her line and took full advantage. Just 9 minutes later, Danni repeated the feat with another fine long distance effort to put the Dolphins đ&#x;?Ź two goals up - what a dream start!

However, Exeter found their passing game and were able to pull a goal back through Ella Mae Miller who struck a rocket đ&#x;š€ of a shot to beat Sam Chrippes. The midfield battle was terrific, with both teams playing some brilliant football. On the stroke of half time, Exeter grabbed the equaliser through Esme KilburnThompson. An end to end half finishing 2-2.

Second half continued at much the same pace with both teams pressing, with attacking flair and some brilliant passing and movement. After a terrific run by the Exeter full back her shot was saved by the excellent Sam Chrippes, who unfortunately was only able to parry the ball into the feet on incoming Esme Kilburn-Thompson who tucked it away for Exeter to take the lead.

With the game finely balanced, Chrippes made a couple of sensation saves but was unable to keep out Megan Robinson from tapping in the forth to secure the points for Exeter.

Special mention should go to Sophie Legg. Sophie has made the step up to ladies football this season progressing from our talented U18’s. Having made her debut in the game against Southampton, this was her first full 90 mins and she was brilliant.

Well done Sophie.

The sheer number of quality players we now have available is giving me a headache for every selection The league is back and it's as unpredictable as ever. It really does seem like anyone can beat anyone this year.

Our new players have now really bedded in and even more U18's are stepping up to the plate - congratulations to Sophie Legg for an outstanding outing for her first full 90 minutes.

We’ll keep working harder and I know it won’t be long before we secure the points which our hard work merits.

Although the hard work continues, I think we are still improving week on week. Over the last two games we have played two top sides and scored 3 goals against some difficult opposition. After taking the early lead at Exeter, we felt that we deserved to get something from the game but it was not meant to be. This Sunday brings another team, Buckland Athletic, who we know are a great team but with our continued hard work, we’re hoping to get those points. Come on Poole !!

7. What did you do during lockdown and what’s the biggest thing you learnt about yourself or team mates during lockdown?

2. Best football highlight?

Gaining promotion into the FA Women’s National League

During lockdown I got myself another part-time job at tesco. I was at the point where I could start getting in the gym got my rehab, but when they closed I had to redirect my rehab, so focused on lots of running and cycling! One thing I learnt is that I love being outside and I appreciated a lot more where I live! As a team we definitely bonded alot more through Zoom calls and going for bike rides when we were allowed to do so.

3. Occupation? Coaching toddlers football - our next generation of superstars 4. What’s your favourite meal? Spaghetti đ&#x;??Bolognese 5. What’s your favourite TV show? Friends 6. When did you start playing football? Starting playing girls football at the age of 12 and never looked back.

8. You suffered an ACl injury and now getting back to fitness. How are you finding the rehab and what’s been your biggest highlight? Is there any advice you would give other players overcoming a similar accident?

My rehab is probably one of the hardest things I have had to do! Ive found it very hard at times to be motivated to keep going, but then id watch a game and remind myself of why I am doing it. Keeping myself around the team has definitely been a big help and I wouldn't have been half as motivated without them. Massive thank you to Gubb and Bec for their general support during all of this, and also to Tiff for putting up with me always asking questions about her experiences with the injury.

9. What’s your aspirations for the season?

My aspirations for the season are to get back playing, and finish the season as I mean to go on... ACL injury free đ&#x;˜

Youth Teams U16 Youth Teams U18

Details for the U16 team Our U16 girls kicked off their new season away to Longfleet Lionesses.

The girls were emphatic and played some sublime football - lots of passing and movement with some excellent finishing.

Goals from Leah (3), Annabel (3), Poppy H (2), Poppy S (2), Kady, Summer, Maisie and Rosie helped to secure a brilliant 14-1 win.

Huge credit must be given to Longfleet who never gave up, showed some great skills and were excellent opponents. We wish them the very best for the remainder of the season.

Match two was against Merley - it was always going to be tough with only ten players available but the girls gave it their all. A goal from Poppy S was not enough as with some fine finishes Merley secured a 2-1 win.

Details for the U18 team U18 - proudly sponsored by MC Plan & Site Services Ladies kicked off the season on 19th September at home to Chickerell. In a well organised and disciplined display, ladies secured their first 3 points of the season with a brilliant 3-1 win. Each player took to the field and played their hearts ♼� out. Challenging well, passing and moving with some sublime finishes from Lauren, Tiara and Molly. This was the perfect start to the season.

The second game of the season, the ladies faced a well organised Eastleigh. The team started off lively but made some uncharacteristic mistakes which led to a few early goals. As the ladies battled to get back in the game, they started to lose their shape and Eastleigh took full advantage with the final score being 9-0.

Next up, the ladies face Cowes in a cup match - an opponent whom they have never faced previous so it should be a brilliant encounter.

Our amazing ladies are still looking for new players - training every Wednesday at Ashdown Leisure Centre 8-930pm.
