Last Out Dorset Women’s League Last season was a strange one, but also a good one! Even though the season had an abrupt end due to COVID, there’s a lot of positives to look back on. Throughout the season the ladies played great football and showed they were enjoying themselves every time they went out on the pitch.

Ending the season with the cup semi final against the first team was a really nice way to end it looking back. As it was just before lockdown playing one last game with each other and then socialising afterwards was a perfect way to end a very weird season!

This year we are looking to start where we left off! Game hungry and playing with pride, confidence and lots of fantastic ability. With some new faces in and around the club as well as some of our amazing u18s stepping up there is a lot to look forward to. Within the Dorset side our main goal is to get the best out of these young players and give them all the time and facilities they need to progress further into the senior women’s game! With our stand out experienced players from last year too I think this year we will be able to build something really quite spectacular, and I can’t wait to hit the ground running when the season starts in October.

Head Coach Report Last season was a strange one. We started the season with a desire to rebuild a club decimated by injuries, which had ended the 2018/19 season with only 11 fit players. Game by game the performances on the pitch improved as the squad began to understand one another's game. After Christmas, we picked up some steam and started to convert those performances into points, playing some rather attractive football. Then the end of the world happened.

Moving into this season, the rebuild has been completed. We have a continuous throughput of youngsters from the brilliantly managed U18's team. Our development team is stronger than ever and our first team are ready to compete.

The players have not been idle in the extended downtime and look stronger and sharper than ever, with the team chemistry at an all time high. I look forward to what this season of progress brings.

Football is back!

The beginning of the season is always more exciting then Christmas and especially so this year - as a squad we just can't wait to be back! The players have been working hard in this extended o-season and are ready to hit the ground running - Sunday is looking likely to be the game of the year.

Although the league had to stop and was void, it truly bought out the best in our team Last season was a strange season as when Covid hit we were just a close team and always there for each other but lockdown proved how is meant to.

end of season presentation spotligh

End of season presentation spotlight Although the season ended abruptly, our ladies were fortunate to enjoy their last game of the season in a County cup match against each other. Although, the FAWNL team came out winners, the team spirit and determination shown by all players showed the great unity within the club.

Dorset Team

Throughout lockdown, the team spirit remained strong as the players enjoyed regular virtual yoga and fitness sessions, fitness challenges and regular catch ups.

Congratulations to all the winners - here’s to another great season !

More recently, the ladies were finally able to enjoy a club fun day followed by the end of season presentation.

The final award for the club person of the year went to ..... Becca Witherington As well as being a brilliant and influential captain, Becca went above and beyond throughout the season. She rallied the team, is continuously bubbly with a drive to motivate and succeed and is an inspiration to all. Becca also coaches our U18 ladies, alongside Sam Gubb, from which we have seen huge benefits with a number of the players progressing through the pathway and cementing their places as first team regulars. Well done Becca !!
