Last Out Following their terrific win against Winchester City Flyers, the ladies faced Southampton FC in the 2nd round qualifier of the Women’s FA Cup. Southampton looked well organised and with their deadly finishing took command of the game. Being 3-0 up at half time, as Poole tired the Southampton players were emphatic and secured a comfortable win to progress into the next round of the cup. We wish them the very best in the competition.

Prior to the match, the ladies were delighted to meet with a loyal supporter of the club John Walsh, who was visiting the area. John very kindly met with the players and supported them throughout the match. Captain Becca Witherington was delighted to introduce John to the players as he very kindly presented Becca with a cheque and tins of celebrations for the ladies to enjoy. It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture from John and we hope he enjoyed a fantastic birthday.

The ladies started off the game strongly by going 0-2 up in the first 15 minutes with goals from Jamie Barrett and Lucy Woollard. A great goal from distance spiced the game up when in the 25th minute the opposition made it 1-2.

Jamie got herself a brace after causing the opposing keeper to make a mistake and an Alice Fisher goal made the gap between the two teams even wider. However they were not done there! Captain Shelley Towers decided she wanted to get on the score sheet making it 1-5, with Wool scoring another just before half time.

HT: Wool & Winfrith 2-5 Poole Town Ladies After a strong first half the ladies went out into the second half with confidence and were in the mindset to go out and take their chances, which they absolutely did! Coming out strong they scored 6 goals in the second half. Hannah Varney and Erin Blake both got themselves a second half brace! Jess Fowell and Harley Brett also both finished emphatically as they went on to dominate the game. Jamie Barrett almost net herself a Hatrick but the linesman raised his flag for offside after she had found the net.

Overall a very good day at the office for the Dorset side!

FT: Wool & Winfrith 2-11 Poole Town Ladies Man of The Match - Jamie Barrett

Our Dorset team have been in fine form in recent weeks. In the last match against Wool & Winfrith the ladies secured a magnificent 11-2 victory with goals from Alice, Erin (2), Hannah (2), Harley, Jamie (2), Jess, Lucy and Shelley. The ladies were sublime, playing some terrific football, working hard across the pitch for which their efforts were deservedly rewarded. New coach Charlie Rees was delighted with the fantastic performance - awesome work ladies !!!

During the past few weeks as the weather has hampered games the ladies have taken the opportunity for some terrific team building activities including crazy golf, go karting and a fireworks display.

Poole Town Ladies are a Charter Standard Club. For the third season, our first team will be competing in the FA Women’s National League South West Division One. Our first team offers the highest standard of women’s football in Dorset.

The FA WNL South West Division One is equivalent to League Two in the men’s competition. Our reserves compete in the Dorset Women’s League.

What’s been the highlights?

I’m loving every second of playing for Poole town ladies. We’ve got such a good bunch of women and we all get along so well.

My highlight so far has got to be beating Winchester in the FA cup.

What are your aspirations for the season?

To win as many games as we possibly can and end the season on a high.

Youth Teams

Details for the U15 team • 26/10/2019 vs Longfleet Won 9-0 with goals from Leah 3, Kady 2, Poppy 2, Maisie 1 and Rosie 1.

Played superb, moved the ball well with some terrific finishes.

• So far this season - won 2 drawn 1 and lost 2, as well was winning 2 league cup matches .

• Next match is on Sat 16th November at Home to Merley . We are very pleased with how the team have performed so far and with how the new girls who have joined us this season , have settled in - great work girls

Details for the U18 team • The under 18s had a cup game against Warsash Wasps where it was highly competitive match.

Both teams had great performances and Poole just lost 3-2 with both Poole goals from Charlotte. We are playing them in another cup on 9th November away again and looking to steal the win this time.

• Next home game is 16th against Merley. This will be a very hard match but one the girls all look forward to as it is a local derby for us.

• We are really enjoying our first season in the Hampshire league and the girls development is improving week on week. The coaches Sam and Becca are so proud of every player - awesome work ladies • Next up 19/10 Warsash Wasps away

Young Girls Teams We are looking to set up the following age groups: • U7 - School Years 1 and 2 • U9 - School Years 3 and 4 • U11 - School Years 5 and 6 All sessions are delivered by FA qualified coaches, providing a safe place for girls to try football for the first time and develop key skills. Our ethos is for girls to have fun, make new friends and enjoy playing football.

Training will take place on Saturday mornings at Haymoor Junior School 10-11.30, commencing 21st September.
