Our first team offers the highest standard of women’s football in Dorset.

The FA WNL South West Division One is equivalent to League Two in the men’s competition. Our reserves compete in the Dorset Women’s League.

About U

Poole Town Ladies are a Charter Standard Club. For the third season, our first team will be competing in the FA Women’s National League South West Division One.

Last Out In our last match, ladies made the short trip to Romsey Town to face Southampton Women in the FA Women’s National League Cup, determining round.

In a closely contested match, ladies matched Southampton toe to toe showing excellent composure especially in the extreme heat. Chances were limited but when Southampton did break through, the defence showed great resilience to thwart the attacks, backed up by our formidable goalkeeper Sam Chrippes. Just as it looked as though we’d enter half time 0-0, the Southampton Captain Tash Angel unleashed a rocket of a shot to break the deadlock. HT 1-0 Second half and with a switch of formation, ladies started to press higher up the pitch and pressurise the Southampton defence. However, shortly into the second half, a Poole defender was adjudged to have handled in the box - penalty to Southampton. Never fear, our superb shot stopper guessed correct and with a flying save to

the right of the goal, kept the ball out to keep the score at 1-0. At the other end, Katie Marshallsay launched her own rocket of a shot from 25 yards which dipped nicely but unfortunately rebounded off the crossbar. Shortly before the end Southampton secured a second to win the match courtesy of a great run by the winger who whipped in low for the advancing Philippa Holden to tap in. Final score 2-0.

Poole POM was Emma King who was magnificent in central defence, controlled the ball well, quick to react and always on the lookout to advance and press forward.

This has been an exciting pre-season for the club, both on and off the pitch. We have had a massive intake of quality players throughout both teams whilst the new U18 section look set to flourish under excellent management, setting us up for continued success into the future. Main Questions

To work hard every game and in training sessions to be the best I can be for myself as a player and of course the team.

I’ve learnt recently that what you do off the ball is just as important as what you do on the ball!

It was tough to leave my previous club Merley as myself and my boyfriend set the team up, however I wanted to challenge myself and reach the highest level I could, and I knew Poole played at the highest level in Dorset so it was an easy decision for me.

2. Preferred playing position Upfront 3. What team do you support?

Liverpool 4. Favourite food?

Roast dinner, (goes down well after Sunday games!)

5. Favourite TV show?

Hate to admit it but Eastenders.

6. Who’s your sporting idol & why?

Toni Duggan - I love her attitude, her commitment to the game and watching the way she finishes! I know she got into football by playing in a team with all boys, like I did when I first started playing.

7. What’s your greatest sporting achievement?

In 2007 when I was playing for the year above in the school team ,the whole school came out to watch as we were in the semi~finals of the national schools competition and I scored the winning goal to get us through to the final. It was also a memorable moment as my dad was there watching.

How are you finding the transition so far?

It’s still quite early on for me to say. I love the professionalism of the teams and the passion players show on the pitch though, which I’ve not always experienced previously. Everyone is there to win and I love that!

What are your aspirations for the season ?

by FA qualified coaches, providing a safe place for girls to try football for the first time and develop key skills. Our ethos is for girls to have fun, make new friends and enjoy playing football.

Training will take place on Saturday mornings at Haymoor Junior School 10-11.30, commencing 21st September.
