If you’re a social member and arrive by water to enjoy the club's amenities, please remember these tips before you arrive. With the exciting increase in activities around your club, finding dockage can sometimes be challenging.

Please check in with your marina staff, by phone or VHF radio channel 11. Call ahead to help your marina staff better serve you and allow us to properly direct you to open areas for dockage. If requesting space for overnight, please call ahead and give a week's notice. Power is limited on the gas dock. If you need shore power, please request a week in advance. Remember NO permanent parking in the pump out or fueling slips!!

FLEET COMMITTEE NEWS

As we are now in fall and the leaves are beginning to change, we can enjoy our year-end events in cooler temperatures!

October is a particularly eventful month:

32st Peninsula Cup – the “Pen Cup” is held October 11–13 with both onwater and on-shore activities for both competitors and members. This will be a great weekend for all with a Member Mixer on the 11th, the Land & Sea dinner, on the 12th, and a BBQ on the 13th. Oh, and a lot of sailing in between meals!

The annual Treasure Hunt follows the Pen Cup on October 19th. Dress up as a pirate and come on out for the festivities geared towards kids – but enjoyed by adults as well. Walk the plank, hunt for treasure, watch out for meandering pirates, visit the stockade, and join in on a fun-filled family adventure to get back our treasure from some very feisty pirates! Remember to duck as the cannons roar!

SAILING SCENE

Let’s go sailing!

We are now in the midst of the busy and fun fall sailing season. There’s nothing like a cool breeze on a sunny day to relax the soul.

The 32st Pen Cup begins with a Member Mixer on October 11th. This is a great venue to mingle with members and Pen Cup sailors. There may even be a crew opportunity or two available. Just ask around. Volunteers are always welcome as well!

To fair winds and following seas,

Tim Harbick

If you would like to get involved in any of these events, just reach out!

Lastly, this month’s safety tips:

· Get a free Vessel Safety Check from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary to verify the presence and condition of certain safety equipment required by state and federal regulations

· Take a Boating Course. New boaters and experienced experts alike need to be familiar with the boating rules of the road, operating guidelines, and safety tips

· Be weather-wise. Always check local, route and destination weather and water conditions before departure and ensure it is safe to go out

Fair winds, Tim Harbick 2024 Rear Commodore
