That's right...we are totally heading back to the righteous 90's! Our Annual Wine Dinner is a member favorite around here. This year we have a delicous menu planned by Chef Andres and his team. To enhance the menu even more, White Hall Lane Winery, Jack Larkin, is coming in to pair a wine with each course to perfectly compliment the taste profiles. Grab your scrunchies and portable CD players because we are rolling back in time to a night you won't forget!
As we get ready for the boating season remember to do a complete assessment of your vessel and all things pertaining to safety. Here are a few things to remember.
1. Make sure dock lines are in good shape and of proper size. I have included a sizing chart below with suggested dock line diameter for different size boats.
2.Be sure to have another full set of lines onboard in the event you need them at another dock.
3.Inspect your shore power cord to make sure it is in good condition and not worn. Be sure and unplug the cord before inspecting.
4.Conduct a safety check to make sure your vessel has all its safety equipment, PFD’s, throw cushion, fire extinguisher, etc. Depending on the size of your vessel there are certain items required. See information below regarding VSC’s (vessel safety checks)
5.Replace batteries if needed. You could get more life if maintained properly but most boat batteries last about 3-4 years.
6.Perform all Oil changes, lower units, impellers, etc. as needed.
7.Take a boating safety course. It doesn’t matter how old we are, we all need it!
Marina Manager Reminder
Have a Courtesy Vessel Safety Check at Your Boat!! (uscgaux.info)
ABOUT VESSEL SAFETY CHECKS
A Vessel Safety Check (VSC) is a courtesy examination of your boat to verify the presence and condition of certain Safety Equipment required by State and the Federal regulations. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary offers free safety checks to boaters who wish to be sure that their boats meet these requirements. The Vessel Examiners who perform these checks are specially trained and kept informed on the latest legal requirements for boaters. Vessel Examiners have no legal authority and no citations will be issued. You will be provided a copy of the evaluation so that you may follow some of the suggestions given. Vessels that pass will be able to display a Coast Guard Auxiliary VSC decal. Displaying a current VSC decal informs the Coast Guard & Auxiliary, Harbor Patrol, Sheriff, Police and other boating law-enforcement that your boat was found compliant with all Federal and State upon inspection. This does not exempt you from law enforcement boarding, but you can be prepared to make this a positive encounter. What is in a Vessel Safety Check?

Meet the Colvins! They are amongst some of our longest standing members with a proud membership term of 23 years and counting.
When you are a part of a community for such a long time it becomes home. From celebrating one of their daughter's wedding to boating the calm waters of Lake Norman, Leigh Ann and Kim have been active members from the start.
When talking with them, they all mentioned a favorite event they look forward to each year. Madison said, "I look forward to the summer camp, and especially the boating camp!" while her moms were fans of Thanksgiving, the Oyster Roast, the Lighted Boat Parade, and the chili cook off! All great events that everyone should experience during their membership.
When discussing the club's events and ammenities, Kim went on to say that "[they] love sharing this place with their family and friends." Bringing guests is something that we encourage our members to do because it allows for our members to feel even more at home by being able to share the club with friends and family. "We've made some really lasting long-term friendships because of the [Safe Harbor] Peninsula Yacht Club", Leigh Ann was kind enough to add.
Make sure to give a warm hello to The Colvins if you see them around the club. As members who have been here pretty much from the start, they've got a catalog of stories they could share!

At The Safe Harbor Peninsula Yacht Club, we feel that it's important to keep our members informed on all matters that relate to them and the club. With a place that has so much going on, it's easy to forget the little things like Dress Code, Reservation Maximums, and leashing up our furry friends!
These are friendly reminders in case those policies have slipped your mind. If there is ever a time where you just aren't sure if you are in accordance with the policies, don't hesitate to reach out and ask!

Thank you for your constant loyalty, support, and cooperation. We appreciate you!
We are happy to introduce our furry friend, Lady! This sweetheart is an Australian Shepard mix and is 2 months shy of being 1 year old. Lady's story starts off sad but has an uplifting ending. At a young age, Lady and her brother were found in a box on the side of the highway in Kentucky. After being rescued, our very own Jeff Barry and his fiancèe, Elise Couturier, adopted Lady into their family. Interesting enough, their friends actually adopted Lady's brother as well, which means they got to stay in each other's lives. As you could guess, the two siblings' favorite activity is getting to go play with one another while their humans hang out. It's these type of feel good stories that make our day here at SHPYC.
Do you have a fur baby that loves the spotlight? Send their picture in! They just may be our next Dog of the Month!
