Bursaries & Subsidies Increasing Accessibility One of our main goals at Place des Arts is to increase participation in, and accessibility to, the arts. We aim to engage as many people as possible, so they can explore their creativity, express themselves, learn new skills, connect with others, heal and grow through the myriad benefits of arts education. Each year we raise money through sponsorships, grants and our annual online auction (see page 43) to fund bursaries and program subsidies to help remove financial barriers to our arts education programs. Place des Arts also fully subsidizes our Artist-inResidence program for local school children, providing fun and engaging arts workshops at no-cost to schools. We also have launched our Creative HeARTs program providing newcomer families with opportunities to engage in the arts! P L AC E D ES ARTS 20 2 1 /20 2 2 P RO G R AM G UI D E

Bursaries

Subsidies

Anyone in our community, age 17 and under who wishes to take classes or lessons, but may not be able to afford our full fees, is eligible to apply.

Through our annual online auction fundraiser, sponsorships and grants, we raise funds to provide arts education subsidies for in-need families.

Bursary applications are accepted throughout the year; the deadline to receive an application is six weeks before the class/lesson start date to which the bursary will be applied.

We provide full and partial subsidies for many of our programs year-round to those who are eligible for the City of Coquitlam’s Get Connected, Get Active program.

If you believe you may qualify for a bursary, please visit placedesarts.ca under Programs/ Scholarships and Bursaries. Here, you will find our bursary guidelines and an application form.

Get Connected, Get Active

All applicants will be notified of the status of their application within two weeks of the submission date. Awarded bursary amounts will be placed as a credit on the applicant’s Place des Arts account.

Through the City of Coqutilam’s Get Connected, Get Active (GCGA) program, we offer program subsidies to qualified individuals/families. To be eligible for a GCGA subsidy, you must apply through the City of Coquitlam. For more information about the GCGA program, visit the City of Coquitlam website at coquitlam.ca under Recreation Parks & Culture.
