NFBPA South Florida Chapter Celebrates a Successful FORUM 2024

April 3-6, Baltimore , Maryland

TheSouthFloridaChapteroftheNationalForumforBlackPublicAdministrators(NFBPA) proudly reflects on its significant participation and achievements at the NFBPA FORUM 2024, held in Baltimore, Maryland from April 3rd to 7th. This year ' s theme, “Excellence in Service, Strength in Leadership,” resonated deeply with our 116 members, who actively engagedinaweekfilledwithinsightfulworkshops,enlighteningsessions,andinvaluable networkingopportunities.

FORUM 2024 served as a dynamic platform for our members to exchange ideas, strategies, and best practices with public administrators across the nation The event underscored the NFBPA's unwavering commitment to enhancing the competence and understanding of current and future Black public administrators to improve the quality ofpublicservice.

Dear NFBPA Members,

I hope this message finds you well and filled with the same enthusiasm that characterized our recent Forum 24 event. I am thrilled to share that an unequivocal success, brimming with vibrant interaction, engaging sessions, meaningful exchanges that left us all recharged and inspired to lead our respective jurisdictions with renewed vigor.

The sessions at Forum 24 were not just informative; they were impactful and meaningful, offering invaluable insights and tools for public administrators to navigate the challenges and opportunities in our ever-evolving landscape. From innovative strategies to best practices, the wealth of information provided has equipped us all with the resources needed to drive positive change in our communities.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Forum 24 was the opportunity for networking and forging connections. The bonds formed, both within our chapters and with colleagues from across the globe, are invaluable. These connections not only enrich our professional lives but also serve as a support system as we continue our journey in public service.

As we bask in the glow of Forum 24's success, I urge each of you to harness that energy and momentum to propel us forward. Let us not allow the fire ignited by this event to dim but instead fuel it further by staying engaged and involved. One impactful way to do so is by joining a committee and actively contributing to the great work being done by NFBPA. Together, we can ensure the continued success of our organization and uphold our commitment to nurturing the pipeline for black public administrators.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making Forum 24 a resounding success. Let us carry the spirit of collaboration, learning, and empowerment forward as we continue our journey towards excellence in public service.

Please join our chapter meetings held virtually or in-person within the tri-county on the 3rd Thursday each month at 6:30pm, with April’s meeting being hosted by Palm Beach County, while the May meeting will be hosted in Miami. The April meeting was pushed back a week and will be conducted in-person and virtually starting promptly at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25th, at the Children Service Council, located at 2300 High Ridge Road in Boynton Beach, Florida. Please join us prior to the meeting at 6:00 pm. for refreshments and networking.

The South Florida Chapter made notable contributions to the FORUM, with several members leading sessions and participating in discussions that addressed critical issues facing public administration today. Our chapter's presence underscored our commitment to fostering leadership, professional development, and the advancement of our members in the field of public administration.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our chapter's dedication and hard work were recognized through several prestigious awards and recognitions during the FORUM:

Stephanie Moliere received the “Steven D Ford Memorial Award,” recognizing her as an emerging leader who has demonstrated exceptional promise, dedication, and achievement in public service

Anthony Snipes was honored with the esteemed “Marks of Excellence” award, a testament to his outstanding leadership and contributions to public administration

Additionally, the South Florida Chapter was thrilled to celebrate the graduation of several members from the NFBPA’s Mentor Program and the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI), marking a significant milestone in their professional development journey

Andrea Knowles-Hill, Assistant Director, Intergovernmental Affairs/Boards Section is an Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) graduate.

ELI is a program dedicated to grooming African American managers for the rigors of executive positions in public service organizations.
