Celebrates a Successful FORUM 2025

This year’s FORUM is an exploration of the intricate connections between the choices we make today and the outcomes we create for tomorrow It is a call to reflect on how our leadership decisions can drive progress, foster equity, and inspire change. South Florida Chapter Shines at NFBPA FORUM 2025


The South Florida Chapter of the National Forum for Black Administrators (NFBPA) is proud to celebrate a highly successful showing at FORUM 2025, held April 9–13 in San Francisco, California under the theme “Today’s Choices, Tomorrow’s Impact”. This year’s forum was a testament to the leadership, innovation, and impact of Black public administrators across the country.
The South Florida Chapter was well-represented by a delegation of committed professionals who not only attended workshops and plenary sessions but also brought home prestigious honors and acknowledgments. Among the chapter’s accomplishments:
• Leadership Recognition: long-time chapter members, Dr. Danita A. Crawford and Dr. Shirley Sims were awarded the Jacqueline L. Whitman Distinguished Service Award, one of NFBPA’s highest honors for outstanding contributions to public administration.
• Emerging Leader: Seminta Dulcio was awarded with the Jamison Group Scholarship, honoring future leaders who show exceptional promise in the field to further their education.
•Professional Development: Several chapter members successfully completed the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) and Mentor Program, affirming our chapter’s commitment to developing a pipeline of high-performing leaders in government service.
• Panel Participation: South Florida Chapter members served as panelists and moderators on key discussions around equity, community engagement, and technological innovation in local government.
The South Florida Chapter remains committed to mentoring, training, and advocating for Black professionals in public administration, and looks forward to continuing this momentum throughout 2025 and beyond.

The South Florida Chapter made notable contributions to the FORUM, with several members leading sessions and participating in discussions that addressed critical issues facing public administration today. Our chapter's presence underscored our commitment to fostering leadership, professional development, and the advancement of our members in the field of public administration.
We are incredibly proud to announce that our chapter's dedication and hard work were recognized through several prestigious awards and recognitions during the FORUM:

VeniceHoward, Acting City Manager of City of Lauderdale Lakes graduated from the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI). ELI is a program dedicated to grooming African American managers for the rigors of executive positions in public service organizations.
