The NFBPA Leadership Forum event was a testament to the strength and power of this organization. Congratulations to the amazing event committee chairs Merdochey LaFrance and Daphnee Sainvil, and professional development committee chair Krystal Patterson. Thank you ladies for a successful event. You exceeded my expectations. A special shout out to the planning team (Dr.Phil, Bobbi, Melvin, Kordell, Dr.Sims, Dr.Hopkins, and a few others that pitched in along the way. Together we were able to create a phenomenal event and experience. There were informative sessions providing great professional development, lots of opportunities for powerful networking and mentorship. It was excellent. Thank you to all the members that attended. The National Black Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) South Florida Chapter reflects proudly on the accomplishments of the Inaugural Leadership Forum 2024, held on June 28, 2024, at the Colony West Golf ClubinTamarac,Florida.Themed"ShapingTomorrowTogether,"thisyear's forum resonated deeply with attendees, fostering active engagement, ideaexchange,andnewconnectionsamongparticipants.


Shaping Tomorrow Together: NFBPA South Florida hosts SOLD OUT Inaugural Leadership Forum


The event showcased an outstanding line-up of moderators and speakers from South Florida and beyond, reflecting their respective and collective caliber of expertise and knowledge. Fireside chat Speakers, including Alan Williams from The Office of the Vice President at The White House; Phyllis Dickerson from the African-American Mayors Association; and Jim Carras from the Bloomberg Center for Cities at Harvard University, provided invaluable insights on leading resilient cities. The legislative lightning included distinguished legislators, Florida State SenatorsRosalindOsgoodandJasonPizzo,whosharedtheirperspectives on the impacts of our most recent legislative session. Additionally, the panel on the South Florida Mega-Regions: Opportunities and Challenges, highlighted the experiences and strategies of three prominent Black Women leaders in municipal government: Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Carladenise Edwards of Miami-Dade County; Deputy County Administrator Dr. Kimm Campbell, LCSW, of Broward County, and City Administrator Faye W. Johnson, ICMA–CM of the City of West Palm Beach. Theseexpertsengagedinmeaningfuldiscussionsandstrategicplanning, focused on building lasting partnerships and driving inevitable and irrefutablechangeforthebettermentofourregionandourresidents.

SOLD OUT Inaugural Leadership Forum
One highlight was the presentation of the NFBPA South Florida Chapter Academic Scholarship totaling $1,500 to FabioCabrera,generouslysponsoredby Infrastructure Engineering. This award recognizes Fabio's outstanding commitment to academic excellence and public service, aligning perfectly with NFBPA's mission to empower future leaders in public administration. Fabio's dedication exemplifies the values of scholarship and community engagement, reflecting the shared vision of NFBPA and Infrastructure Engineering in nurturing talent and leadershipwithinSouthFlorida.




The Leadership Forum 2024 reaffirms NFBPA South Florida Chapter's dedication to advancing public administration and fostering collaboration across sectors. Chair, Merdochey LaFrance and Co-Chair, Daphnee Sainvil issued a joint statement of thanks, “We are incredibly proud of the remarkable convening of experts and leaders who joined us from South Florida and across the nation.
