The NFBPA, a professional membership organization dedicated to the advancement of Black leadership in the public sector, was founded in June 1983 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Over the years, its membership grew to include managers and executives in virtually all disciplines represented in state and local governments. In addition to public service professionals, the association's membership embraces graduate students, deans, and faculty at schools of public administration, community service professionals, and executives in the corporate sector.

Celebrating Black Excellence Cruise

The NFBPA - South Florida Chapter's "Celebrating Black Excellence Cruise with a Purpose" was not only a thrilling and uplifting event but also a resounding success in championing the cause of black excellence and community empowerment. Gathering members and supporters on this memorable cruise provided a unique and engaging platform for networking, celebrating achievements, and fostering a sense of unity and pride within the community. The excitement was palpable, with attendees inspired by the collective spirit of progress and the shared mission of uplifting black professionals. What made this event even more remarkable was its significant impact beyond the immediate celebration. The cruise served a dual purpose by also acting as a fundraiser, successfully raising $1700 to support the chapter's programming. This financial contribution underscores the event's success in mobilizing resources to further the NFBPA's vital work in professional development, mentorship, and advocacy. By combining celebration with a clear purpose, the "Celebrating Black Excellence Cruise with a Purpose" set a high bar for community engagement and empowerment, leaving an indelible mark on all who participated and contributing tangibly to the ongoing mission of the NFBPA - South Florida Chapter.

Autism Speaks Walk

The NFBPA South Florida chapter's participation in the autism walk underscores its commitment to inclusivity, awareness, and support for all facets of the community, including those affected by autism. This engagement highlights the chapter's broader mission beyond professional development to actively contribute to societal causes and support community well-being. By joining the autism walk, the chapter not only raised awareness about autism but also demonstrated solidarity with individuals and families impacted by it. This action reflects the NFBPA South Florida chapter's dedication to fostering a more understanding, inclusive, and supportive society. Through their participation, they aimed to inspire others, encourage community involvement, and help make a difference in the lives of those touched by autism, showcasing the power of collective action and compassion.

Annual NFBPA Emerge Conference 2023

The South Florida Chapter warmly welcomed the NFBPA Board of Directors, National Committee Members, members from across Florida, and attendees of the Annual NFBPA Emerge Conference 2023 at Florida Memorial University in Miami Gardens. Under the theme "Equity & Connectivity," the event aimed to address critical issues at the crossroads of local government, historical importance, and the drive towards a more equitable society. The theme underscored the importance of equity as a foundational principle for creating inclusive communities and highlighted the role of connectivity in promoting collaboration, understanding, and progress amidst globalization and technological advances.

Participants engaged in workshops and sessions led by a diverse group of leaders, educators, and practitioners offering practical ideas and insights into public service careers. The efforts of the South Florida Chapter Emerging Leaders, local planning committee, sponsors, volunteers, and the NFBPA Planning Committee culminated in a successful conference focusing on professional development and networking. The event underscored the value of each attendee's commitment to public service and their role in enhancing the efficiency of government operations, fostering the development of Black Public Administrators The gathering not only aimed at professional enrichment but also at ensuring participants left feeling relaxed, rewarded, and rejuvenated by South Florida's beauty.

40 Years of the South Florida Standard Experience

Celebrated 40 Years of the South Florida Standard Experience. The NFBPA South Florida Standard Experience was a celebration of achievement in the Black community that couldn't be missed. Guests were invited to travel back in time to witness 40 years of Black excellence. The journey began with the incredible history and evolution of the chapter, marked by an indoor/outdoor check-in welcome reception. Each of the 300 attendees was provided an opportunity to enjoy a refreshing cocktail while witnessing the appreciable successes presented through a captivating exhibition of historical art, culture, and live music. Immediately after, all guests received an illustrious red-carpet welcome as they embarked on the Grand Princess, a stunning four-deck luxury dinner party yacht. This memorable event was full of excitement, presentations, and entertainment. An enthralling full four-hour immersive experience was provided, including splendid water and city views, various genres of music, a coastal buffet, and four premium open bars. The chapter's dedication toward the advancement of Black leadership in the public sector for 40 years was commemorated by profiling exceptional Black leaders in South Florida. As a superior inclusion, the chapter's community efforts were secured through a casino-themed deck that delivered an opportunity for guests to be enchanted by charitable gaming and silent auction items. Upon disembarking the ship, each guest received signature memorabilia to hold the grand memories of this event for a lifetime.
