NEIGHBOUR COVER STORY

BOLAND ROMAINE LLP Tim Boland, Darcy Romaine and Michael Connolly Located at the corner of Yonge Street and Wellington Street in Aurora, is Boland Romaine. Their team has served the injured of York Region for over 40 years and was selected by Canadian Lawyer Magazine as one of the top 10 personal injury law firms in Ontario. While every injured person would prefer a fair settlement, that option is not always available. As the senior partner, Timothy Boland, says, “Sometimes justice can’t be negotiated.” According to Darcy Romaine, “Trial experience settles cases fairly, and trial experience will protect the injured when negotiations break down.” Recently, the Boland Romaine team demonstrated just how true that statement was for a gravely injured client of theirs, a nursing student, who relied on the duo to take her case to trial (after having retained two prior law firms). Her vehicle lost traction on a winter road, and Simcoe County blamed her for the loss of control and head-on collision. Leveraging their extensive municipal trial experience, Boland Romaine conducted a three-week trial against the County of Simcoe for failing to keep its winter roads in a reasonable state of repair. The Superior Court of Ontario released its decision in July 2022, awarding $16 million plus legal costs, finding that it was the roads that caused the collision, not the nursing student’s driving. On December 7, 2023, the Ontario Court of Appeal upheld the trial decision. Beyond representing individuals in York Region, Boland Romaine also takes its responsibility as a member of the community seriously. Over the years, Boland Romaine LLP donated over $150,000 to Southlake Regional Hospital. In keeping with their special interest in representing those who suffer catastrophic brain injuries, they can annually be found at their favourite event, the Run for Southlake Hospital, where they gift and fit hundreds of free bicycle helmets for children. They are also sponsors of the NewRoads LakeRide in support of Southlake’s Mental Health Program, and the Southlake Fashion show, as giving back and funding cancer research, they say, “looks good on everybody.” At Boland Romaine, they not only believe that your future is worth fighting for - but also in the importance of giving back to and supporting the community you are a part of! #GoodNeighbours

Main Street Realty was created in 2010. Located in Newmarket, MSR has quickly gained prominence over the years and was voted one of the Top 60 Brokerages across Canada by Rep Magazine. Main Street Realty has also opened Branch offices in Toronto, Keswick and Uxbridge. We are an agent centric Brokerage really focusing on the Agents needs. We provide lower fees so they can have more money for themselves and their families. We provide professional training and tech tools to help them succeed at a very high level.

This past Holiday Season, the Main Street Realty team was overwhelmed with the amount of donations they received from their agents, clients and the community for the Abuse Hurts Toy Drive and Handbags of Hope campaign! Chris Cartwright was excited to hand over the mountain of donations to Ellen Campbell, CEO and Founder of Abuse Hurts, to then be shared with women and children escaping abuse.

Over 170 Agents have joined the Brokerage and we predict it will be 200 Agents by the end of 2024. We are not just a real estate brokerage, we provide services, support and financial help to charities, businesses, the arts and local artists. Main Street Realty is evolving into a community driven Brokerage and we get better every day.

Thank you to everyone who donated to this incredible cause!

Letter from

MAYOR TAYLOR The Excitement of a New Year January and February are often seen as a time to hibernate and recover from the frenzy of December. But it is also a time of hope. It’s a time to lean in and make the new year even better than the one before. For many reasons, I’m excited for what lies ahead for Newmarket in 2024. I know we’ll continue to make progress on the priorities Council set for this term, focusing on next-level community-building efforts, such as parks, housing, and trails. We will continue to leverage our events, facilities, and investments to give residents more reasons to come together and enjoy this town, while also attracting more talented people to work here, and investments that will add jobs and make our local economy more vibrant and resilient. Together we’ll see the Mulock Park take shape and continue renovating the Mulock House to include the AGO’s first satellite gallery, creating a destination that people will visit from near and far. The downtown will continue to evolve as a vibrant attraction for residents and visitors alike, with the opening of the Postmark Hotel and Bar Locale and new events, adding to our award-winning events at Riverwalk Commons. Looking further down the road, this year will see the Town renew its official plan guiding its growth and development for the foreseeable future. We’ll also lay out our long-term recreation plan for facilities and programming for a generation to come. With so many great initiatives lined up, this new year is certain to be one of Newmarket’s best. I hope to see many of you throughout the year and please feel free to stop me and say hello!

The Metropolitan Electric Railway The Metropolitan Electric Railway, which eventually ran from Toronto to Jackson’s Point, arrived in Newmarket in 1899. Originally the tracks ran up Yonge Street and then turned east through the fields at “Mulock Corner’s” to Fairy Lake and then straight up Main Street. Due largely to the complaints of the Main Street merchants, upset because the passing trains frightened the horses on the street, the railway was re-routed in 1905. At this time the new tracks were installed on the west side of Main Street, beside the “Old” Town Hall and beside where Newmarket Public Library now stands. From there they continued north on to Raglan Street where they turned at Queen Street and then embarked upon a trestle system and a concrete arch (pictured) to carry the electric railway over both the Grand Trunk Railway tracks and the Holland River. The electric railway system grew in popularity and experienced much success. It has been described as the first “commuter” train where citizens could go to Toronto to visit and return the same day. Extra cars were added to accommodate the increase in passengers. Travellers could also travel on picnic expeditions to Lake Simcoe and Lake Wilcox. The railway eventually was discontinued as the popularity of the automobile increased and paved highways offered alternate transportation means. The section between Richmond Hill and Newmarket was removed in the early 1930’s. The Botsford Street station was demolished despite its historical significance in 1986. Today only photos like these ones keep alive the memory of this once bustling railway line system through Newmarket. Story and picture provided by Wes Playter, Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home

Magic

I'm Magic! I was surrendered after my owner passed away. Since my arrival at Dog Tales, I was diagnosed with bladder stones and infected, dry eyes. I have undergone surgery to remove the stones and am now on a special diet to prevent future issues. I will also require long-term eye medication twice daily. Although I am a senior lady, I am still spunky and fun. I love going on walks and getting butt scratches. I also do well with most dogs after a slow introduction.

I'm Rex! A German Shepherd and Golden Retriever mix. My mom tells me that I am the most loving and sweetest, goofball. I love hiking in the winter, swimming in the summer and a good belly rub all year round. My nickname is Mr. Social, because I love to meet EVERYONE. My best friend is Molly and we do everything together.

Woof! Hi, I'm Molly. A Vizsla, Weimaraner and Catahoula Leopard Dog mix! I am very strong and loving. I love to go on road trips to breweries, diving off docks and on long hiking adventures. If food is involved... you can guarantee that I will be there. Rex and I are the best of friends!

Rocky

I'm Rocky! I was surrendered when my owner could no longer care for me. Due to living my entire life outdoors and in a garage, I can be protective of my people, space, food, and toys. I'm super smart and have learned many different tricks and ways to control these behaviours. In time and with trust, I get very attached to my people and love to please! I can be cuddly, loyal and very obedient when given a chance. Although I am a senior, I'm in great shape and love to go for long walks and play fetch!

Meow - I'm Gryffin! I am a 2 year old Himalayan, and I have a laid back, dopey personality. I don't have many, if any, dislikes - so I'm very easy to be around! My best friend in the world is Clark and I consider myself to be very friendly.

Hello, I'm Clark. I am a 3 year old Bambino. I am high energy and my mom says that I'm quite the character! I love to flush the toilet... multiple times a day. But I dislike that I have no fur! Gryffin is my best friend and we love to hang out together.

A Message from

MP Leah Taylor Roy Happy New Year Neighbours! I am proud of what our government has accomplished this fall session in Parliament and also what we have been doing here in our riding. I look forward to working for and with you in 2024 to accomplish even more. Recently, Minister Sean Fraser joined us to announce over $31 million in funding for the City of Richmond Hill through the Housing Accelerator Fund. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also joined us, in Aurora, to listen to women leaders’ concerns regarding the affordability issues affecting Canadians and their families. We discussed the hard work our government is doing to stabilize grocery prices and build more homes for Canadians, as well as the early learning and childcare program which has cut the cost of childcare in half and the dental program which provides dental care for children and seniors in lower income households. As our government prepares for Budget 2024, we invite you to share your ideas and priorities with us. Canadians are invited to participate by sharing their ideas at LetsTalkBudget24.ca until February 9, 2024, or go to my website at leahtaylorroymp.ca and post a comment. I would love to see you in person at my 2nd Annual New Year's Levee on Sunday January 14th, 2024, from 4:00-6:00 pm at the Oak Ridges Community Centre, 12895 Bayview Avenue, Richmond Hill, ON L4E 3G2. Please RSVP on my website www.leahtaylorroymp.ca. All are welcome and I look forward to welcoming you there. Leah Taylor Roy Member of Parliament Aurora – Oak Ridges – Richmond Hill

On the first day of Hanukkah, Chabad Newmarket lit the Grand Menorah at The Mount Albert Community Centre in EG. On the fourth day of Hanukkah, the Grand Menorah was lit at Newmarket's Riverwalk Commons, and on the fifth day of Hanukkah Chabad Aurora gathered in the Council Chambers a the Aurora Town Hall to light the Menorah. The history of the eight-day celebration of Hanukkah is rooted in the rededication of the Holy Temple after the Jewish people reclaimed it from the Syrian-Greeks in the second century BCE. As they worked to restore the temple, they used an oil lamp fueled by a tiny bit of oil that was only supposed to last one day. The oil miraculously lasted for eight days, and that is what is considered the Hanukkah miracle.

Seize Financial Opportunities This New Year: Kickstarting with RRSP Season! As the new year commences, so does the onset of "RRSP season.” What exactly is RRSP season? It means that special time of year, when Retirement Savings Plan (“RRSP”) contributions made can be used for the current tax year or the previous one – in other words, it is a grace period to go back to last year and make the contributions you meant to! The crucial date to mark on your calendar is March 1st. Meeting this deadline ensures a potential tax refund earlier and extends the period for tax-deferred growth. Let us help you make informed decisions about your contributions to maximize the benefits and secure your financial future. To learn more about how this could work for you, call us today! Partner

We are grateful for their safe driving, conscientiousness, and the personal connections they establish with their clients. My father looks forward to his visits with CHATS, as they share stories and create a friendly atmosphere. With CHATS, we have peace of mind knowing that Dad is well taken care of during his trips, and we highly recommend their services.”

Eat, Drink and Play IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD BUILDING A TACO EMPIRE

Healthy, yet indulgent. Familiar, yet creative. Fast food, but leveled up! We started Ghost Taco as a pop-up after the pandemic forced our events business to close. We simply needed something to keep our staff on the job. The plan was always for Ghost Taco to pop up and then disappear (hence the name). But it didn’t take long to realize we were onto something special. We were slammed with orders every time we posted our hours, and people came from across the GTA demanding to get a taste of our buzz-worthy tacos for themselves. We quickly became a local sensation, selling out night after night. We used the next two years to perfect our menu, our packaging, and our restaurants. And today, we’re building our very own taco empire. Our mission is simple – deliver chef-inspired tacos that threaten the status quo. As word spread, we caught the eye of internationally recognized Toronto-born street food legend, Matt Basile. Led by a belief that food should be fun, exciting, and just a little bit different, he immediately fell in love with the concept and jumped at the chance to bring his experience and passion for food and be a part of our journey, overseeing the development of an expertly crafted, continuously evolving menu. Ghost Taco takes the best parts of Mexican food and mixes in unique street food flavours. It combines the convenience of takeout with our passion for delivering incredible dining experiences. “Machines create fast food, chefs create our food.” - Matt Basile

PLANNING YOUR NEXT EVENT?

Nothing brings people together like great food! We offer Taco Platters of all sizes and can adjust to any dietary restriction so that there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Order for corporate lunches, family gatherings, dinner parties, game nights, special events or any other occasion!

FROM POP-UP TO GAME-CHANGER

Ghost Taco was born from a desire to do something fresh. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever tried, and it’s a brand set to take over the QSR segment. Want to build a taco empire of your very own? Ghost Taco is seeking ambitious Franchise Partners to grow alongside us. Complete the form on our website to get started today! Thank you to Neighbour Partner Chris Cartwright and Team for

supporting our Eat, Drink & Play page! We appreciate your love and support of the community.

MAYOR MRAKAS An exciting 2024 in store for Aurora! Happy New Year Aurora! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and spent quality time with family and friends. There’s truly something special about winter in Aurora, from our beautiful trails to our outdoors rinks, to our special events. One event that I’m particularly excited for is the Mayor and Council New Year’s Levee on Saturday, January 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Aurora Family Leisure Complex. I always love our annual Levee, as it gives me and all members of Council an opportunity to meet with residents, while giving the whole community a chance to come together to enjoy family-friendly activities such as skating, a pancake breakfast and more. I hope to see you all there! We also have other exciting events and initiatives happening over the first few months of 2024, including Aurora’s Arctic Adventure- now a two-day event over the Family Day long weekend in February- and Black History Month events throughout the entire month of February. Look out for more details in future columns and, of course, on social media. For me, there’s nothing I’m looking forward to more in 2024 than the opening of Aurora Town Square, the dynamic arts and culture hub that will add so much vibrancy to our Town. I want to thank community members for their patience during construction, particularly those living close to the Library. Things will certainly be ramping up over the next few months, with information about events, programs and of course the official opening in the Spring. So please stay tuned to my social channels, and the Town’s as well, for exciting updates. This once-in-a-generation project is so important to revitalizing our downtown and strengthening our arts and culture community here in Aurora. I look forward to seeing you around Town!

Once again, the Town of Aurora knocked it out of the park with their Holiday Market and Winter Wonderland. On the weekends of December 1st-3rd & 8th-10th, the Aurora Town Park was loaded with unique vendors (that changed each night of the market), amazing festive photo opportunities, activities for the whole family to enjoy, live shows and SANTA!

The GranAurora fundraiser "Grans Go Baking with the Stars" was held on November 26th at Trinity Church. The Great Canadian Baking Show season 5 finalists hometown hero Steven Levitt, and granddaughter of GranAurora member Cathy Gross, Aimee DeCruyenaere, provided baking demonstrations, tips and tricks to a sold out room! It was a "sweet" Sunday!

Shout-out to the Aurora Soccer Club who on November 16th presented a cheque to the Southlake Foundation for over $4,000 from the Aurora Soccer Kenny McDonald Charity Golf Tourney! Through the clubs ongoing fundraising efforts the Aurora Soccer Club has raised over $10,000 and will be recognized on the Southlake Foundation Circle of Hope Donor Wall.

Building Our Community Together 2023 Year End Update from MPP Dawn Gallagher Murphy As 2024 commences, I am pleased to share with you some community highlights from 2023. It has been an honour to meet with hundreds of constituents, to recognize new businesses, meet and learn about existing businesses who are keeping our local economy strong, and having the pleasure of sharing provincial funding announcements across the riding. Participating in local cultural events and hosting my 2nd annual community BBQ have also been wonderful experiences. This year has been filled with memorable moments that truly reflect the heart of our Newmarket—Aurora community: • At my 2nd Annual Community BBQ, we gathered as a vibrant community, sharing stories and visions for building our community together. • The Handbags of Hope initiative created by Abuse Hurts provides a meaningful way to assist those facing hardships. • ‘Pay What You Can’ by York Region Food Network, a heartfelt initiative that increases accessibility to healthy food for everyone in our community. • At the High Tea with Inn From The Cold, we showcased our spirit of generosity and support for those in need. • Participating in the Interfaith Symposium was a chance to embrace our community’s diverse beliefs and values. • The Challah for Israel event was a touching expression of solidarity and hope. These moments have strengthened the ties that bind us in Newmarket—Aurora, reminding us that together, we can build a caring, inclusive community.

Since June 2023, I have had the great pleasure of sharing funding announcements across the constituency of Newmarket—Aurora, including: • An investment of over $17 million in Southlake Regional Health Centre to enhance hospital capacity, reduce wait times, and support upgrades. • Margaret Bahen Hospice receiving $946,000 over two years as part of Ontario’s $147.4 million palliative care investment, in end-of-life care. • Newmarket Soccer Club receiving a $150,000 grant to enhance its facilities, ensuring safe and modern experiences for soccer enthusiasts. • Ontario’s $2.8 million investment in a new PET-CT Simulator scanner at Stronach Regional Cancer Centre to provide cancer patients diagnostic services close to home. • Funding of nearly $65 million this year in York Region to help local public health providers cover increased costs, allowing them to focus on building a robust local public health sector that provides more convenient access for our community members. • $325,000 invested in Women’s Centre of York Region to aid women facing social and economic challenges. • NACCA has been awarded a $167,100 Resilient Communities Fund grant to further develop a much-needed support program for local Black youth who have been especially harmed with ongoing incidents of anti-Black racism. We will work together as a community to celebrate our differences and breakdown social barriers so that we are truly lifting one another up. • Supported 360°kids’ Newmarket Youth Hub’s opening with a $77,200 grant, featuring the Every Bite Matters employment program.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL My best wishes for a year filled with joy, unity, prosperity, peace, and good health.

On December 6th, 1989, an armed man killed 14 women, and injured 13 other individuals at Polytechnique Montréal. Still incomprehensible to this day, this anti-woman attack stunned the entire country, and sent shockwaves throughout the entire world. On December 6th, 2023, the Women's Centre of York Region held an evening of reflection, commemoration, and action to end gender-based violence. Hosted at NewRoads Automotive Group GM the evening included a candle being lit for each of the women killed at Polytechnique, and Sherri Sanjurio shared her journey through abuse. Thank you to Vince's Market for sponsoring the food and Bianca Rollo for her beautiful voice.

January Fun Fact

January was named for the Roman god Janus, known as the protector of gates and doorways, who symbolize beginnings and endings. Janus is depicted with two faces, one looking into the past, the other with the ability to see into the future. What a fitting symbol for this first day of the year; this month is our door into the new year.

Wishing you and yours a

Happy New Year! 2024

As 2023 draws to a close and we begin the year 2024, I extend my warmest wishes to all of you for a year full of happiness, good health, and success. In the previous year, our community united to celebrate moments and seize opportunities. I would like to take a moment to look back at all the things we achieved and express my gratitude towards everyone who put their trust in me to advocate for them and make sure their voices are heard. January, the gateway to the New Year, serves as an opportunity for us all to visualize our hopes, dreams, and resolutions. This time of the year encourages us to assess our accomplishments, learn from our experiences, and lead a life with dedication to our personal growth. The significance of New Year’s and the month of January lies in the capacity to inspire change. They remind us that, regardless of our past, we have the opportunity to shape our future. Resolutions, like beacons of intention, light the path of self-improvement. This act of self-reflection symbolizes the commitment to evolving into the best versions of ourselves. This past March I was honoured to be appointed by Premier Ford as the Minister of Children, Community and Social Services. It is a pleasure to serve individuals of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, including children, families, seniors, and people with disabilities. We have achieved and succeeded in many things over the past year. The moments we have shared over the past year have been great examples of how we can all come together to celebrate and share experiences regardless of our differences.

Neighbour Media joined Montare Property Management, the Town of Aurora and Mary Georgopoulos to plan the St. Andrew's Holiday Village Event, which took place on December 16th and 17th. Over 500 people attended the 2 day event, on the evening of the 16th the courtyard was filled with lights, music, dancing and festive spirit. A huge thanks to the retailers for staying open late and handing out goodies to those that stopped by. On Sunday the festivities moved inside due to rainy weather, but that did not dampen the spirits of those who attended. Sweet Dutchess offered Brunch with Santa, kids enjoyed making wreaths, face painting, balloon art and a visit from the York Region Fire Service mascot Sparky. Mayor Mrakas judged the shops that decorated their windows, and congratulations to The Story of Love Boutique for winning the Holiday Window competition. A huge thanks to all the volunteers and special shout-out to Elf Alison for creating and facilitating the wreath making activity. St. Andrew's Village is a unique shopping experience in Aurora, stroll through and check out the shops in the village!

With the holiday season behind us and new year unfolding, December came to an end with important announcements and community activities. Community health and safety is an ongoing priority of our government. An investment of $18 million over three years will be invested in police services to combat and prevent auto theft. York Regional Police will receive $900,000 over the next three years as part of these Preventing Auto Theft (PAT) grants to enhance services and to add resources to dismantle these criminal activities. Our government also made a significant investment of $300 million to enhance long-term care and home community services. A cornerstone of the Your Health Plan is to ensure we bolster support for our health human resources. Through this investment, we are providing substantial incentives for a career as a Personal Support Worker (PSW), offering up to $25,400 to students and graduates of PSW programs. It’s always a pleasure to experience the exceptional community spirit and comradeship built at events in Newmarket and Aurora. Through the holidays, I had the great pleasure of attending the Newmarket Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Christmas Bazaar, the St. Andrew’s College Christmas Market, the tree lighting at the Aurora town park, the Frozen Fridays event at Riverwalk Commons, and the festive Menorah lighting ceremony by the Chabad Newmarket. These events, among many others, represent important threads that bond and build our community together. Thank you to all these event organizers! Happy new year to all and my best wishes for a year filled with joy, unity, prosperity, peace, and good health.

What does being a good neighbour mean to you? A good neighbour, for me, is synonymous with kindness. They lookout for the children, and in the true communal village sense, help raise the children though mentorship and guidance. A good neighbour is like extended family. - Jerisha Grant-Hall

If you could give advice to your younger self, what would it be? Don’t stop pushing. Your talents are a gift, and when people try to put out your fire, it is a direct reflection of them - not you. - Hailey Jones

If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive who would it be? It’s hard for me to pick just one. If I could roll it back and have dinner with my dad who passed away in 2013 and my brother - the three of us being at the same table would be really special to me. - Regan Irvine

What is your favourite food? My wife's Matzah ball soup. - Rabbi Mendy Grossbaum

If you were a superhero, what would your powers be, and why? My super power would be love. If someone is upset I can make them instantly happy, because I have so much love to give. - Ben Tobin

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you? I am trained in classical French cuisine and have my red seal. - Tara Warriner

Where is your favourite place to go in the community? There are too many to choose from! You’ll find me at many of the restaurants on Main Street. - Dr. Amir Ahsan

What is your favorite season (winter, spring, summer, fall), and why? Winter, absolutely! I adore sipping hot cocoa by the fireplace, building snowmen, and the joyful anticipation of the holiday season. - Tasneem Khambata

Abuse Hurts Champion of the Month We’re starting off this new year by acknowledging someone who helped finish off last year with a lot of joy and gratitude: Susan Zeran is our Champion of the Month. She began volunteering for us in January of 2023 and ended the year in a paid position, coordinating our Annual Toy Drive. We found ourselves without someone to fill this need and Susan was our first choice to offer the position to. She accepted the challenge and overcame every obstacle like a boss. We received truckloads of toys that needed to be sorted and then placed when filling orders from dozens of agencies. It was difficult to find the needed number of volunteers to assist in this endeavour but Susan was determined to find a way to make Christmas happen for all the children on our lists. We’re happy to say that, thanks to Susan and her faithful volunteers, Abuse Hurts was able to hand out approximately 3,500 toys and other items to just under 1,700 individuals in time for this year’s Toy Drive campaign!

On November 30th, the Bradford Women's Group celebrated their last day of the Handbags of Hope collection campaign in support of Abuse Hurts! Ellen Campbell, survivor, as well as CEO and Founder of Abuse Hurts, was their special guest. Ellen delivered a heartfelt talk and shared her story of experiencing violence, healing, and making change through service of others and advocacy. The evening also included writing cards and making bracelets that would be inserted in each purse collected. A special thanks to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association, and the RVH Pharmacy Department for their huge donation of handbags!

When asked why she chose to volunteer at Abuse Hurts, Susan shared, “I’ve had my own personal experience with abuse, I wanted to support an agency that helped others who’ve been traumatized and need support to move forward in their lives.” Her sincerity shows through her wonderful attitude, great work ethic, and investment in seeing not only a job well done but ensuring that people feel remembered and cared for this Holiday Season. Thanks Susan!

NEIGHBOURHOOD Charity Highlight Since 1978, Yellow Brick House has provided life-saving services and prevention programs to meet the diverse needs of individuals, families, and communities impacted by violence. Specifically, we work with abused women and children, assisting them with rebuilding their lives after escaping violent homes. The prevalence of violence in Canada is staggering with a woman being killed every 2 ½ days due to gender-based violence. Devastatingly, in Ontario between November 2022 and November 2023, we lost 62 women and children due to GBV. Yellow Brick House has a 24/7 Crisis and Support Line and two emergency shelters in York Region, offering a total of 41 beds and 10 cribs providing safety to women and children escaping violent homes.
