PBE & HBC observe platinum and golden jubilees

DIMAPUR, FEB 11 (NPN): Pyotchu Baptist Ekhumkho (PBE) platinum jubilee celebration got underway on Tuesday, at Pyotchu village under the theme “Nteno a Ehungpvuiden” (Elhi 1:8). Delivering greetings message, Mhathung Yathan advisor Horticulture and Border Affairs, Nagaland, extended jubilee greetings to the attendees and congratulated them for reaching a milestone. Advisor encouraged them to continue to live in unity and cooperation with one another so that they would
receive the blessings from God. Yathan also assured to extend his cooperation in each and every possible way and asked the gathering to rejuvenate, revive, inculcate mutual understanding and learn to forgive one another during this time of celebration so that there will be peace and unity amongst the villagers. Emphasising on the celebration, the advisor encouraged them to be an example to others and said that one needed to learn to seek the blessings of God through one’s deeds and
actions and not by word. Regarding various schemes, advisor encouraged them to utilize the benefits in each and every possible way. Speaker of the programme, Lotha Baptist Churches Association (LBCA) executive secretary Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha encouraged the gathering to be grateful and praise the Lord for reaching the milestone. He reminded that the greatest gift was receiving blessings from God and not receiving worldly gift during such blessed celebration. He also stressed his sharing from the book
of Mathew, John 13:34 and 35, Luke and elaborated on the reason of worshiping God and need of deliverance. At the programme, invocation prayer was offered by Moilan Baptist Church pastor Ruphamo, welcome address by Pyotchu Baptist Church pastor Khonbemo and special number was presented by jubilee choir and Woroku Baptist Church. Scripture was read out by Pyotchu Baptist Church women leader Mhayani. Highlights of the celebration included unveil-
ing of the monolith by blowing the trumpet in which prayer was offered by LBCA executive secretary Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha, dedication of the jubilee hall presided by LBCA middle range evangelist N Longshi, dedication of the theme was offered by New Ralan pastor Nkhyingo and during the programme one minute silence was also maintained in remembrance of those who have passed away. Later, benediction prayer was offered by Longtsung Baptist Church pastor Longshithung.
The celebration programme will culminate on February 12. (Staff Reporter) HBC: Hoito Baptist Church (HBC) celebrated its 50th golden jubilee (1970 -2020) at Hoito village under the theme, “The Lord has led us thus far” on February 11, wherein jubilee monolith (erected inside the Jubilee Park) and the jubilee gate were inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Phughoto Aye, ES (WSBAK). A press release from HBC pastor Akheto Chophi stated that, the jubilee memento and souvenir were released by Rev. Dr. Khehovi Shohe, director SBC. Host of people from all walks of life, including religious, social, Naga national political leaders and personalities joined in the celebration with thanksgiving and praises to the Lord. Zelome village declared ‘Ground Apple Growing Village’ AGEI clarifies on dissident DIMAPUR: Zelome village under Phek district was declared as “ground apple growing village” on February 11. The declaration programme was jointly organised by the village council Zelome and Officers’ Club Pfutsero. According to DIPR, Phuleshe K Yepthomi, ADC Pfutsero in his exhortation speech said that Naga forefathers were selfsufficient and that farmers of Zelome village were modern examples of this as they thrive without any assistance from the government. He also encouraged the farmers to cultivate the crop without depending on government subsidies but by relying on the new technologies. Dr. Lhishelo, SMO, Pfutsero spoke on the health benefits of ground apple and said that regular consumption of ground apple improves the immune system and digestion. He added that diabetic and cancer patients can also consume this juicy vegetable and that it was also good for liver and heart. K Y M C

Dr. lmtionen, SDAO Pfutsero highlighted on the organic cultivation tips on ground apple which can be grown easily on loose soil with organic matter and is more drought tolerant than other vegetables. He also mentioned that the crop has a long shelf life and keeping quality and the leaves after harvest can be
used as organic matter. Speaking on the occasion, guest of honour, Senti Longchar, horticulture officer, HRF, Pfutsero said that ground apple was a very nutritious food and that every farmer should be encouraged to grow it in their field because it is a fast growing, remunerative and an easy to maintain crop.
He also requested the farmers to market it at an affordable price so everyone can enjoy this nutritious food. Other officers present during the programme were SDO (civil) Chizami, BDO Pfutsero and Khezhakeno EAC. About 150 households were involved in cultivation of ground apple.
DIMAPUR: Reacting to the news published in local dailies on December 13, with regard to conduct of AGEI conference held at Don Bosco Institute for Development and Leadership from December 11 to 12, the Assemblies of God of East India (AGEI) has clarified that the programme was organised by dissident group of AGEI. In a joint statement by AGEI comprising of Rev. Moses Murry general superintendent, Rev. R. Sanga Keivom general secretary, Rev. Tusaya Kath district superintendent Nagaland Assemblies of God and Rev. Khriezolie Angami district secretary of Nagaland Assemblies of God expressed that action of “the self styled AGEI executive members and advisory board members was a direct challenge and a violation of the AGEI constitution”. AGEI puts on record that, those people who have convened a general meeting were the dissident group
who have been suspended and excommunicated by the concerned authority of the AGEI because of their unethical behaviour and non cooperation towards the AGEI society. Therefore, in order not to cause or create any confusion and mislead the concern leaders and believers from these unauthorized people, the AGEI has clarified and informed the concern leaders and believers not to entertain the malpractices of those self styled and suspended members. AGEI also reiterated that, the dissident group has no authority or moral obligation to use the AGEI logo and cautioned them to restraint from using the AGEI logo as defying would attract legal discourse. AGEI further reminded the dissident group to refrain from such unauthorized conference in the near future which will only compel the AGEI to publish their name in the media outlet for public awareness.

DIMAPUR: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Peren conducted district youth convention at women welfare community hall, with Dr. Tinojongshi Chang ADC , Jalukie as special guest on February 8. A press release from DYC i/c NYK Peren John Makhab stated that, special guest asked the youth to take due advantage of the opportunities offered by various government and non-governmental organizations to enhance oneself. He also called upon the youth to be responsible in taking one’s own culture forward for posterity and appealed them to feel proud of their culture. He reiterated that all students will not get govt. employment rather one should give importance to income generating activities. He also appreciated that many young girls were meaningfully engaged in entrepreneurship in Jalukie and Peren towns. John Makhabo in his keynote address stated that NYKS was the biggest grassroot level movement in Asia Pacific region with 1.5 lakhs youth clubs affiliated to NYK and focused on capacity building of the youth at large. He also asked the youth to take up entrepreneurship and provide jobs to other youths.
