Shinfield Green Remembrance Service
L
arge crowds gathered at the memorial in Shinfield Green for the Remembrance Service jointly led by Nigel Beer of St Mary’s Church and Pastor Nathan Hunt of Shinfield Baptist Church. For the laying of the wreaths there were representatives from Shinfield Parish Council and Wokingham Borough Council, the Royal British Legion, the Armed Forces, the Air Cadets, Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Thames Valley Police and local schools. During the wreath ceremony a Chinook helicopter did a well-timed flypast, brought into service for the UK MOD in 1981. The Reading of the Names was a poignant reminder of those who have lost their lives in service. My Wokingham spoke to 91-yearold David Brown who was a former RAF radar operator. And an emo-
tional mum, wearing a beautiful poppy scarf, who told us she had sent
