Vintage rally cancelled for second summer

The popular South Molton Vintage Rally has fallen victim to the Covid-19 pandemic for the second year in a row, with organisers cancelling this year’s event due to be held on June 5th. “We have continued to closely monitor the Coronavirus situation, and whilst the ongoing vaccination programme is progressing well and should be commended, it has nevertheless become increasingly evident (as in 2020) that it is unfeasible to run South Molton Vintage Rally,” said a spokesman for the rally team. “It was not an easy decision but we believe it to be the right one. The safety of the many members, supporters and visitors was one of our main considerations, plus we could not risk any infringement of the legislation regarding gatherings.” South Molton Vintage Rally is not just one of the area’s favourites, it is also a lifeline for many local charities and good causes, usually donating thousands of pounds every year. The rally club organisers say they still hope to run some smaller scale events later this year.
