Tucked away in East Buckland, alchemy has been at work for nearly 30 years.

Dinsdale Petch (right) trained as a blacksmith and an antique metal ware restorer before building his bronze foundry at home. From here he hot casts a quirky range of awardwinning bronzes, undertakes prestigious commissions & lovingly restores historic metal items back to their former glory.

Dinsdale is passionate about keeping traditional skills and crafts alive. He learnt how to cast metal through reading and experimenting. Many of the tools and pieces of equipment he uses are fabricated by himself or are antiques in their own right! He is busy working on commissions at the moment, many of which end up on far away shores. Here in North Devon you can buy his lovingly crafted range of solid bronze nuts (below) as gifts or treasures for the home.

‘Everybody needs a cake in their life!’ That’s the motto of Brayford baker Jacci Gardner (right).

“I’ve always had a passion for baking and decided to turn that passion into a small business at home,” said Jacci.

She makes personalised celebration cakes for special occasions including birthdays and weddings, as well as smaller cakes for those who just fancy a treat. Lockdown has seen her expand the range to include postal cakes as well as local delivery, plus supplying shops in South Molton and Brayford market.

“I bake in my dedicated catering kitchen using only top quality ingredients. I’m constantly trialling new techniques, and have spent most of this lockdown in the kitchen making new creations and refining my skills, including chocolate making!” added Jacci.
