US Supreme Court Decision on DACA What is the latest update on DACA? On September 2017, the Trump administration attempted to terminate DACA. Several organizations, DACA recipients, and states then sued the administration’s attempt to end the program. In a 5-4 victory, issued on June 18, 2020, the US Supreme Court blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to end DACA.

What is Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)? DACA provides a type of liminal immigration status where beneficiaries are temporarily protected from deportation and receive a 2-year work permit but are not provided with a path to citizenship.
What are the eligibility requirements to benefit from DACA? Can I apply for DACA for the first time if I meet the eligibility requirements? USCIS is expected to begin accepting applications once again from individuals who are requesting DACA for the first time. We highly encourage undocumented youth who meet the eligibility requirements and who will be applying for DACA for the first time, to begin gathering their application documents so that they are prepared when USCIS starts accepting applications once again. Idaho’s new hands-free cell phone law goes into effect July 1 BOISE, Idaho — Idaho’s new hands-free cell phone law goes into effect on Wednesday.
The new law requires electronic devices be in hands-free mode while driving, including when stopped at a red light or stop sign. In other words, holding a cell phone while operating a vehicle is illegal. The new law is intended to address safety concerns associated with a significant portion of distracted driving.
“Education of motorists is key,” said Idaho State Police Director Col. Kedrick Wills. “Idahoans want to be responsible and to be good drivers. This law is another way to remind all of us we need to pay attention to the road when we’re behind the wheel. As law enforcement, we can remind drivers with education or enforcement. We’re starting with what we prefer, education.” The law applies to drivers statewide. Law enforcement officers will issue warnings to those out of compliance starting Wednesday and continuing through December 31. Drivers will be issued citations beginning January 1, 2021.
Those found violating the new law will face a $75 fine for their first offense. Drivers facing a second offense within three years will be given a $150 fine. Third and subsequent offenses within three years will result in a $300 fine and can lead to a license suspension of up to 90days.

We’ll yearn for something, anything, to help escape the gray cloud of melancholy and our news feed. We’ll collectively realize that an obvious cure will be to pack up our cars and head out on a good old-fashion road trip to the great outdoors.
Nature has all the essential elements to boost our happiness and immune systems, with the fresh air, open spaces and poor cell reception. Many families are about to become believers. Not only does the outdoors support mental and physical strength, it’s open space is a great escape from potential airborne and surface droplet infections from the

JUNIORS FC CHAMPIONS IDAHO! This year has brought many challenges to families across the globe. We’ve witnessed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. There were school and sports that were canceled and also businesses having to shut down for a period of time.Through all the uncertainty and trying times, the Idaho Juniors were able to keep the boys focused and training. Thanks in part to the Return-To-Play protocols issues by our Governor, Brad Little.
This past weekend, there were four Idaho Juniors teams participating in the Canyon Rim Classic Soccer Tournament in Twin Falls, Idaho. The boys were happy and excited to have the opportunity to play this beautiful game of Soccer!. With the increased COVID-19 cases and the talks about another shut down, I thank God that the boys were able to play in a tournament this year and that it was not canceled.

City of Boise to require face masks in public beginning on July 4 BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The mayor of Idaho’s largest city said that she will sign a public health emergency order requiring face coverings in all indoor and outdoor public places. Boise Mayor Lauren McLean cited the significant increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in making the order, which will take effect Saturday, july 1 for the city’s 225,000 residents.
Boise, the state capital, becomes the fifth — and by far the largest — city in the state to require face coverings. Moscow, Hailey, McCall and Driggs are also requiring face coverings. Other local governments are considering similar measures as coronavirus cases surge in the state.
Idaho had 267 new confirmed infections Wednesday, for a total of 6,370 cases and 92 deaths, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University. The number of infections is thought to be far higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected with the virus without feeling sick. And the 14-day trend for the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 continues to climb, jumping from 4.1% to 13% on Wednesday, according to the COVID Tracking Project. The positivity rate is a measure of how widespread the disease is in the community, and Idaho guidelines say that number needs to be under 5% to lift restrictions. “We must do all we can, as a community, to protect our most vulnerable, and slow the spread of this virus that is a serious risk to our health and economy, especially as we head into the Fourth of July holiday weekend and summer vacation season,” McLean said in a statement. The order contains exceptions for children under age 5, onduty first-responders, or those with health or communications concerns. There are also exceptions for indoor and outdoor public places where social distancing can be practiced.
Republican Gov. Brad Little has encouraged face coverings and wears one himself in gatherings but has declined to make them mandatory. He said the diverse nature of the state, with some people working alone outdoors, doesn’t make such an order sensible. Little’s reopening strategy has stalled with the uptick in cases, and heavily populated Ada County in which Boise is located has reverted to greater restrictions. Bars have been shut down, where the initial surge of infections began after customers ignored social distancing and didn’t wear face coverings. In a major shift in policy, Little said last week that local officials would be allowed to determine restrictions with his oversight, citing concerns that some areas might have overly permissive rules that would lead to more infections.
McLean said she had the support of the health and business communities. The city plans to give away disposable masks on Friday at several locations, with a limit of six masks per household.
“We are very concerned about how rapidly this virus is spreading through the community,” David Peterman of Primary Health Medical Group said in a statement. “Wearing masks has been proven the most effective way to stop the spread.” The mayor’s office didn’t return a call from The Associated Press about when McLean planned to sign the order. For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. BOISE – Governor Brad Little announced today the formation of two new committees to create a plan for reopening public schools this fall and a plan to address the “digital divide,” a term that describes the inequity between students’ access to remote learning across Idaho.
The committees will support the Governor’s Office and the State Board of Education, which have been working with school districts for weeks on reopening options and making access to remote learning more consistent within and between school districts.
“Despite these extraordinary circumstances, it is my intent to have schools safely reopen across Idaho in the fall, although it may look different than it has in the past,” Governor Little said. “Both of the committees, led by State Board of Education members, can support and remove barriers to the fall reopening, provide clear expectations, and identify the tools to meet those expectations.”
State Board of Education member Kurt Liebich leads theDigital Divide Committee, which includes school technology directors, administrators, business leaders, and legislators.
“Our goal is to successfully reopen schools in the fall and provide clear expectations for student learning and guidance to school districts as they make their decisions locally,” Critchfield said. “Districts are discussing approaches to reopening and how to navigate the learning environment. Many decisions are contingent upon developing and changing conditions.”
Both committees are extensions of the Governor’s K-12 Emergency Council, formed in March to respond to the pandemic and advise the Governor on K-12 issues during these unprecedented times.
The Public Schools Reopening Committee is chaired by Idaho State Board of Education President Debbie Critchfield and includes participation from legislators, the State Department of Education, school district and charter school administrators, operations staff, business and industry representatives and state health officials.
“When the pandemic forced the soft closure of schools and a transition to distance learning options, it became painfully clear just how wide the digital divide is,” Liebich said. “We will discuss access to devices for students and ways to improve connectivity throughout the state. Additionally, we will support school districts and charter schools as they develop strategies to implement a blended learning model. Robust learning management systems and professional development are also part of our overall vision for each and every public school in our state.”
The committee will make guidance and resources available to school districts and charter schools in the coming weeks.
