En s’affranchissant de l’attraction terrestre, les premiers aventuriers du ciel durent apprendre très vite à se repérer dans ce nouvel environnement hostile. Sans relation avec le sol, la seule constante fiable qui s’imposa à l’aviation fut la mesure du temps. Grâce au chronométrage, ils purent dès lors réaliser les calculs permettant de définir leur position. La conquête du ciel pouvait désormais franchir un nouveau pas. L’évolution de l’horlogerie, au travers d’une collaboration avec ces pionniers d’un nouveau type, en sera profondément marquée et restera intimement liée au monde aéronautique. In this new edition of our publication, you will discover that a number of watches still bear testimony to this glorious past and that today, more than ever, several brands offer us a chance to relive the spirit of these gentlemen adventurers by celebrating their contributions to modern watchmaking.
In breaking free of gravity, the first skyborne adventurers had to rapidly learn how to find their bearings within this new environment. When no longer in contact with the ground, the only reliable constant factor on which aviators could rely was the measurement of time. Timekeeping enabled them to perform the calculations serving to define their position.
While on a far more modest scale, our own conquest has been that of mountain peaks, and it is with great pride that we present our new Michaud boutique at the Verbier resort. Jean-Nicolas welcomes you there to an entirely revisited alpine setting, imbued with the same wish to provide exceptional personalised service and a new experience for all visitors.
