Turf Reduction Project - Year 2
OUR ROLE IN CONSERVATION
In an effort to continue to reduce water and maintenance costs within the community, the MNC is undertaking another common area turf reduction project.ThisprojectisundertakenincooperationwiththeTOCRWaterdistrict. Six (6) areas have been identified to be the best option for this project, as mostareashavelimitedpedestrianactivityandlowvisibilityimpact.
The planned improvement will simply remove the high water/high maintenanceturfgrassandreplaceitwithlowwaternativegrasses Wewill notbeColoradoscapingareas Mostoftheareastobeconvertedarecurrently adjacent to native grass, so the change will be subtle and should create a morelogicalandcohesivelandscapeplan Theoverallareatobeconvertedis roughly107ksf Thecosttocompletethisprojectwillbereimbursedthrough the TOCR Rebate Program The community will also benefit from extensive long-termwatercostreductionsandmaintenancecostsavings
The program will begin shortly, and each area will be identified with “Turf Reduction Project” signage. The replanting process will be completed by September,andyouwillseethefinishedproductwithgerminationattheend of the year.
