Vale Tom Sika
Master Plumbers SA would like to pay tribute to Tom Sika, who sadly passed away in September. Tom was well known in the plumbing industry as the Manager of Gas Installation and Appliance Safety at the Office of the Technical Regulator (OTR).
Tom joined the OTR Team, Gas installation and appliance safety in South Australia in 2000, and progressed to managing the team. Tom was dedicated to the safety within the gas industry. He was a great colleague, mentor and family man. Tom was well known for his commitment to the work of the OTR and his team. Master Plumbers SA had the pleasure of working with Tom while he presented at the Plumbing and Gas Roadshows over many years.
Tom began his career at SAGASCO (The South Australian Gas Company) in the late 70’s as a gasfitter apprentice and developed into a fine and technically outstanding man.
Staff remember Tom as a kind and supportive man who always took pride in his work and was passionate about the industry.
He was a very private, but at the same time a generous and compassionate person. He made time for anyone in need, whether technical or personal.
Tom will be missed by many people in the industry and beyond. We extend our sincere condolences to Tom’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
