Member Milestone - AJ Paternoster & Son Pty Ltd

We wish to congratulate and thank AJ Paternoster & Son Pty Ltd for their outstanding contribution of 100 years Membership with Master Plumbers SA! AJ Paternoster were presented their Award and Certificate at our 2021 President’s Lunch, which they were extremely proud to receive.

We thought it would be fitting to share a bit of their history with our Members. Arthur James Paternoster grew up in Gawler, where he completed his plumbing apprenticeship with Harold Mozart. Harold Mozart was a tinsmith, gasfitter, gunsmith, patentee and manufacturer of acetylene lamp posts & street lights, used to light the Main Street of Gawler.

In 1912 Harold moved to Unley and set up the workshop with Arthur, at 205 Unley Road. Today, AJ Paternoster & Son still operates from this address. Arthur’s son Maurice followed in his footsteps and became the ‘son’ of AJ Paternoster & Son. He took the business into early 70’s when in turn, his son, Rob started his apprenticeship at the age of 15.

Rob continues to look after the loyal residents of the local area with his nephew Ben. Some are grandchildren of Arthur’s original customers from the early days in Unley.

AJP is one of the few remaining businesses still operating in the Unley area from the ‘old’ days, which is something Rob is extremely proud of.

Rob has almost made 50 years on the tools and is looking forward to receiving his gold watch! We sincerely thank AJ Paternoster & Son Pty Ltd for their support of Master Plumbers SA for 100 years and counting.
