Each new day presents the perfect time to adopt a slower, more intentional pace Savor the simple moments of family time around the campfire, board games in the lodge or a break from technology

Yellowstone Park Tours
The most popular offsite activity is also one of America’s most iconic destinations Yellowstone National Park.
The south entrance to Yellowstone is only 36 miles away from the ranch The drive to the entrance alone offers incredible scenery of a portion of Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Lake To make the most of your time on the ranch, we recommend adding Yellowstone as a bookend to your stay at Lost Creek However, if you plan on visiting the Park during the guest week, we recommend a rental vehicle OR book with one of our favorite tour operators in the valley, Buffalo Roam Tours, who offers curated adventures tailored to your interests
For your day away from the ranch, we are happy to provide packed lunches and a list of our favorite sights. We suggest midweek tours take place on Tuesday, Thursday or Friday as not to interfere with onsite scheduling However, if you have specific questions about the guest week feel free to reach out and we can help
Dave Hansen Whitewater Trips. Based in Jackson Hole, this renowned outfitter has been guiding guests through the river’s twists and turns for over 50 years, providing both heartracing excitement and stunning scenery. They offer an unforgettable journey through the Snake River’s exciting rapids.
In order to incorporate this offsite adventure into your week at Lost Creek Ranch, we recommend dedicating a full day for travel to/from the activity Door to door trips from the ranch are approximately 55 - 6 hours with 15 hours on the River (flow dependent) Guests must provide self-transportation We recommend booking this activity midweek in advance of your trip and directly with Dave Hansen
Scenic Float Trips
One of the most unforgettable ways to experience the natural beauty of Grand Teton National Park is by embarking on a scenic float trip down the Snake River.
Unlike whitewater rafting, a scenic float trip is a peaceful journey, perfect for 6 years old and above Our fantastic guides navigate the gentle currents, sharing insights about the area's ecology, history, and the diverse wildlife that call the Snake River home
Keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles soaring overhead, moose wading along the shore, and even the occasional bear foraging near the water’s edge
Our float trips are offered twice daily with a maximum of 8 guests per trip
Our friendly concierge team will work with your family upon arrival to schedule a trip that works best for you.

What does being the Head Wrangler mean to you?
To me, being head wrangler means leading a team of passionate wranglers and talented horses in a way that creates a meaningful and safe experience for those who are seeking to fully immerse themselves in nature and western culture
What’s your favorite part of the job?
There are so many things I love about my job, but my favorite would have to be how much this job requires me to be present in every moment There is little room to be distracted by the past and future when what's in front of you is so exciting and beautiful
How do you and your team prepare the horses for guest rides?
The wrangling team works really hard to prepare our horses for guests by riding each horse multiple times in different environments The goal is to get to know the horse and its personality, as well as understand the horse's strengths and weaknesses
All of this helps us when it comes time to assign you to the proper horse!
What’s something people might not realize about caring for horses at a guest ranch?
Something people might not realize about caring for horses at a guest ranch is how important it is to understand the body language of the horse Whether the horse is upset, in pain, excited, afraid, or aggressive, we have to be able to recognize it, and respond accordingly to ensure the horse is happy and healthy enough to keep our guests safe
Do you have a favorite guest story or unique wildlife encounter?
So many magical memories come to mind with these questions One story that sticks out particularly is a family I had taken on a picnic ride to the river We were sitting on the bank of the river eating lunch when across the river, we saw a bear and her two cubs It was quite a memorable moment for all of us
What makes horseback riding at this ranch special compared to other places you’ve worked?
Lost Creek Ranch offers a massive selection of trails, that are not only diverse but beautiful is so many different capacities The opportunity to guide intermediate and advanced riders is also something that is really special and keeps everyday exciting!
What are you most looking forward to in the upcoming season?
One thing I am really looking forward to this season are the sunsets. The Tetons offer a skyline like no other for such beautiful colors to be on display
A Remarkable History | Coming Soon to print
From its humble beginnings nearly 100 years ago to its status as a treasured destination in Grand Teton National Park, Lost Creek Ranch has been a witness to countless stories, adventures, and memories.
To bring this incredible journey to life, we’re creating a stunning coffee table book that visually captures the essence of our history This project aims to weave together photographs, anecdotes, and moments from the past that define the ranch’s unique character.
We need your help to make this vision a reality! If you have old photos, stories, or memorabilia from your visits to the ranch, we would love to include them Whether it’s a snapshot of a family horseback ride, a candid moment by the campfire, or a tale passed down through generations, your contributions are invaluable to preserving and sharing the legacy of this special place
Please email your photos and stories to ranch@lostcreekcom Together, let’s celebrate the memories that make Lost Creek Ranch truly timeless
