Two alum who are, according to Sydney Cody (‘15), “very proud to have run for Lakeside” represented MLC and BLC at the UMAC cross country championships this fall. (with Ben Tweit ‘17) On Sept. 9, Bethany Lutheran and Wisconsin Lutheran Colleges faced each other in soccer and five LLHS grads took the field: Briana Modjeska (’14), Olivia Scheiber (’14), Mindy Meske (’17), Nora Stake (’16), and Kiana Krszjzaniek (’15). Adam Wagner (‘13) graduated from the Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management School. He worked at Erin Hills for the U.S. Open, managing moisture content on the putting surfaces in order to “maintain [the] health and playability of the greens for the game’s best players.” On July 1, Kayla (Christianson ‘12) married John CordallGonzales at St. Matthew, Janesville. Kayla, a 5th grade teacher at Community Elementary, Edgerton, is pursuing a Masters in Education. John served in the U.S. Army from 2010-17, and is now in the Army National Guard. He works at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital in Madison.
On September 2, Jacob Schneider (‘12) married Lydia Bushey at St. Lorenz Lutheran, Frankenmuth, MI. They settled in Oconomowoc, where Lydia is a full-time RN at ProHealth Hospital. Jacob is a full-time Loan Officer at the State Bank of Reeseville/ Watertown. Katelyn (Gentz ‘12) and Ryan Broedlow were married on August 20, 2016, at St. Paul, Ixonia, and now live in Portland, WI. Katelyn works for Jefferson County as an Administrative Assistant in the UW-Extension Office and Ryan is an accountant for Baker Tilly Virchow Krause. Craig Wilke (’11) married Christina Biedenbender on July 14, in New Ulm, MN. After the wedding, they moved to Austin, TX, were Craig serves as vicar at Holy Word. Jessica Eternick (’11) graduated from MLC in May 2016 and received a call to teach 2-4 grade at Mt. Calvary, Redding, CA. On July 1, 2016, she married Jacob Rothe.
Caitlin (Moyle ’10) and Cole Kraft were joined in marriage on June 10. Caitlin is a nurse in Waukesha and will graduate with her masters in spring to become a nurse midwife and women’s health nurse practitioner. Pictured are the couple with their parents, including Jacki (Otterstatter ‘80) Moyle, second from right. Brittany (Leis ’09) married Matt Dixon on July 22, 2017, at St. Paul’s, Ixonia. They met at MSOE, where she graduated with a degree in Architectural Engineering. She spent the past 4 years working in Chicago for RTM & Associates as a Building Mechanical Systems Engineer. They relocated to Seattle, WA, where Matt works as a software engineer and she works from home for the same Chicago-based company. Lindsay (Johnson ’09) and Benjamin (’09) Miller were joined in marriage Oct. 30, 2016, at a small ceremony in Walt Disney World, Orlando. They held a
reception in spring 2017 to celebrate with family and friends. They are pictured with their daughter, Addison. Andrew (‘07) and Heather (Burgus ‘05) Schoenfeld were married on Dec. 31, 2016 and live in Madison. Andrew teaches 5-6th grade at Holy Cross and Heather is a Certified Child Life Specialist at the American Family Children’s Hospital. Keith Peterson (’05) and his wife, Monica, celebrated their 9th anniversary on Aug. 30, 2017. They live in Minnesota where Keith works as a Social Worker for Mahnomen County Social Services. He is on the Board of Directors of the Center of Human Environment on the White Earth Indian
Reservation. Additionally, Keith was elected President to the Layman’s Organization of the 8th Circuit of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod in Northwestern Minnesota and President of Immanuel, ELS, in Audubon, MN. Support Forever Warrior Beth (Zimmerman ’05) Steiber & her family! See page 11 for an opportunity to attend a fundraiser in Watertown, WI to help the family recover financially from the costs of Beth’s accident this past summer. Mike Ehlers (‘04),VP of Operations at mkCellular, spoke with the LL Voc Eng class. Mike shared hints on how to be successful in the workplace and gave valuable tips for filling out job applications. He followed up
with mock interviews with students who came dressed for the occasion and were prepared for the interview. Students were then given feedback in their interviewing skills. (See back cover for another LL connection!) Julie (Taylor ’01) and Heath Moyer were married on July 11, 2015. They live in Lake Mills, where they are raising her daughter, Lydia. They both work in Madison, Heath for Certco and Julie for SSM Health—Dean Medical Group in Medical Records as a Scanning Quality Assurance Specialist. Sarah (Garde) and Kevin Pontel (both ‘97) connected through Facebook in 2012, while Sarah was in breast cancer treatment (she’s now 5 years cancerfree!). They married in June 2016. Kevin has two children (Austin & Eliana) from a previous marriage and Sarah has a daughter (Vivian). They are members at St. Paul, Fort Atkinson.
Lori (Sauer ‘94) Ernest reports: “My husband, David, accepted a call at St. Paul, Fort Atkinson, to be the associate pastor. This summer we moved our four kids, cat, hedgehog, and saltwater fish from Tinley Park, IL to our new home in Fort. I am enjoying being back home close to where I grew up in Lake Mills.” Troy and Charlene (’84) Hinstorff are keeping busy with weddings! On, Sept. 2, 2017, Brooke (‘11) married Aaron Voight (’11), son of Mike (‘76) and Holly Voight (‘83). On May 5, 2018, Jae (’12) will marry Madison Zwink of Edmonds, WA. Then, Kyle (‘09), will marry Jaclyn Bretoi, of Austin, TX, on May 11, 2019. Tina (Nell ‘83) Ulrich is now teaching at St John, Jefferson. She directs the Grace Notes Jr Choir and plays organ for church. Daughter Lydia (‘16) is a sophomore at UW– Stevens Point and runs track. Timothy Wiedmann (‘75) is a Professor at the University of Minnesota, Dept. of Pharmaceutics
specializing in inhalation drug delivery. He and his wife, Yen-Lane Chen, a Senior Research Fellow at Boston Scientific, have been married for over 30 years. His family traveled to Taiwan for his nephew’s wedding. John Luedtke (’72), of Luedtke Plumbing, visited the LL Vocational English class to share info about plumbing and other skilled trades. He emphasized the need for tradespeople, shared the income potential, and reminded them that because schooling is built into an apprenticeship, students are paid to learn. Carol (Yerges ’65) and Phil Barnett celebrated their 50th anniversary in August—in Hawaii! The 18-day, fourisland trip “completed my bucket list of visiting all 50 states!” Jane (Sorensen ‘64) Colyer passed away Sept. 28, 2016; the funeral was held Oct. 4 at St. Peter, Lodi, CA. Gary (‘62) and Judy (Lang ‘64) Lembrich celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 19. They were married at St. John, Jefferson, and have three children and six grandchildren. Dianne (Yerges ’63) Wendorf passed away suddenly on May 27 at her home. The funeral was June 1, at Good Shepherd, Beaver Dam.
