Will I Ever Leave High School?

Seniors are looking forward to graduation. They can’t wait to leave high school behind! I remember having that feeling myself. And yet, here I am—decades later—still walking into a high school building every morning. Will I ever leave?

Are you still in school? Probably not in the traditional sense, if you’re reading this article. But I hope you still consider yourself a student—someone who’s still learning, still growing, still discovering new things as you interact with people and the world around you.

Most importantly, I pray that you never graduate from the Word of God. Maybe you stopped learning about math after you received your high school diploma. Maybe you haven’t cracked a history book since college. But I hope you never stop learning about the amazing grace that God shows you through the person and work of Jesus Christ. He lived and died and rose. For you!

God encourages that same mindset when He speaks through the Apostle Paul in Philippians 1:9:

“And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight…”

How does love grow more and more? How can you deepen your knowledge and insight? By staying in the Word. By being a lifelong student of the Bible. By reading and

pondering the good news about Jesus Christ.

Pastor Schultz at dschultz@llhs.org

I’m sure there will come a day when I no longer walk into a school building each morning. But I pray that I’ll never stop being a student of God’s Word. There’s always something new to discover when you ponder the great love of God in Christ Jesus. Your love will abound “more and more” as you do that. Your knowledge and insight will grow deeper. So may God bless you, too, as you “go to school” each day—opening your Bible, listening to God’s voice, and learning again and again just how deeply you are loved. It’s OK to never leave that kind of school ❧DS

“Warrior Wall of Honor” for alum vets

This summer a “Forever Warrior Wall of Honor” will be installed in a main school hallway to recognize our alum who have served in the military. To make this happen, we need our veteran alum and/or their families to reach out to tell us you would like to be included! An online form gathers information for the individual plaques for honorees, or Jess in our Mission Advancement office is also happy to take info over the phone at 920-648-2321 x 2230. Information we’ll collect includes vet name, contact information, graduation year, branch of service, rank and years served. For our wall, a serviceperson needs to have honorably completed his/her first term of service. llhs.org/apps/form/FWwallofhonor

If you know of Lakeside alum vets, we humbly ask that you share who you know with us so that we can reach out to as many of our veterans as possible. Please consider being a part of the Warrior family this way! (Big thanks to junior Natalie Popp for spearheading this tribute to Forever Warrior vets.)
