The Easter Bunny is Not Real

From an early age, I struggled to believe in the Easter Bunny. I remember my parents taking me to the mall, where I was supposed to sit on the Easter Bunny’s lap and get my picture taken. Instead, I cried as loudly as I could, terrified by this strange creature. Looking through its plastic eyes, I saw a person inside that oversized bunny costume—making me cry even more! What was this thing? I had so many questions: Why is the Easter Bunny so big? Why does he give us eggs? Don’t eggs come from chickens? How does he get around—does he just hop everywhere? And why are we getting all this candy? What do bunnies have to do with any of this?

Now, I’m not condemning parents who have fun with their kids by organizing Easter egg hunts and filling baskets with candy. But let’s be honest—the secular version of Easter leaves a lot to be desired. I wonder if non-Christians ever pause and think, There must be more to Easter than this! Many try to explain how the bunnies, eggs, and candy all fit together—but they don’t. And no amount of creative storytelling can make them truly connect to anything worthwhile.

But the Christian celebration of Easter? It outshines any attempt to overshadow the holiday with secular traditions. Jesus rises from the dead. Death no longer has mastery over the human race. Sins are really forgiven. Eternal life is real. All of this happens because of Easter! The resurrection

of Jesus brings a kind of joy and hope that even the best piece of chocolate could never provide.

As the angel proclaimed to the women at the tomb: “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” (Matthew 28:5-6)

For those women and Jesus’ disciples, the news of His resurrection was the best news they had ever heard. At first, it seemed too good to be true—until they realized that it was true.

May God bless your Easter celebrations! If you want to enjoy extra candy on Easter Sunday, go for it. But remember, there’s only one message that truly matters: Jesus has risen from the dead! That good news is worth celebrating—not just every spring, but every Sunday. Thank You, Jesus, for rising from the dead, taking away our sins, and giving us eternal life!

He has risen indeed. ❧DS
