W E L C O M E ¡DALE LA BIENVENIDA AL VERANO! Hello Neighbor, This month we welcome summer! That means kids are out of school, presenting a world of opportunity for your family make memories together. I invite you to visit our city website to learn about the wonderful programs our parks offer -- www.cityofdoral.com/parks. We have plenty of options like yoga, basketball, ballet and chess to keep your mind and body, healthy and engaged this season. It’s key that we minimize the time our kids spend on TV screens, cellphones and other electronic devices. Children grow up fast, let’s enjoy them while we still can with a visit to one of our great parks.

June is also the beginning of Hurricane Season. I cannot emphasize this enough – the time to prepare is NOW! Our teams are already meeting and reviewing lessons learned, to ensure we are ready to respond in case of a storm. This year is particularly special for our community because it will be the first hurricane season in which the City of Doral Divisional Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be open. The EOC will provide a central intelligence area for City personnel to gather critical information, coordinate response activities, and manage personnel during emergencies and catastrophic events to ensure an effective and efficient recovery for our residents and business owners.

Jaime Aymerich From Mexico to Doral and Hollywood

He plays Charly in the Telemundo show “Betty in NY” and has been living in Doral for seven months. About Doral he says he likes the kindness and warmth of the doralians, enjoys the good restaurants in the area, supermarkets, shopping centers, shops, gyms, parks, cinemas, and many other things.

How was it giving life to charly?

Charly is very special to me and I identify a lot with him, because I think the same way he does; for example Charly and I think that a woman is someone very important in society and he respects her.

What other project are you working on?

With my partner George Salinas, we are producing a series in English in Hollywood with Kenny Ortega. This show we are doing with Netflix is a new adaptation of the Brazilian show “Julie and The Phantoms”.

Tell us about the movie The Laundromat It is a film that produced Netflix and we filmed it in October / November 2018 and it will be released this year. I really liked being part of this project because for me it was a pleasure to work and share scenes with Meryl Streep, Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas. When I knew that the film was going to be directed

by Stephen Soderberg of The Panama Papers I loved the project.

In what project would you like to act?

In those who do two things: entertain the public and give a positive message. This world moves very fast and now with so much technology there is more of everything but I like the most classic and traditional things, a good story is timeless so I look for those stories.

What are your hobbies?

I like to do many things, walk, read, dance, watch TV series, movies, indulge and go to the spa, stroll in the mall, go to the beach, eat in a good restaurant and above all help others. The philosopher L Ron Hubbard says: “A being is valuable insofar as he can help others” and I like to help. As the crisis in Venezuela is happening, I brought food, medicines, diapers and baby things to help humanitarian that was sent from Doral to Venezuela.

I’m Mexican but we live on the same planet and what happens to someone else matters to me so I like to help.

Charly es muy especial para mí y me identifico mucho con él, porque yo pienso igual que él; por ejemplo Charlie y yo pensamos que la mujer es alguien muy importante en la sociedad y él le da su lugar a la mujer. ¿En qué otro proyecto estás trabajando?

Junto con mi socio George Salinas, estamos produciendo una serie en inglés en Hollywood con Kenny Ortega. Este show que estamos haciendo con Netflix es una nueva adaptación del show brasileño “Julie and The Phantoms”.

Cuando supe que Stephen Soderberg iba a dirigir la historia de Los Panama Papers me encantó el proyecto. ¿En qué proyecto te gustaría actuar?

En los que cumplan dos cosas: entretener al público y dar un mensaje positivo. A mí me gustan las cosas más clásicas y tradicionales, una buena historia no tiene tiempo así que busco esas historias.

Dice el filósofo L Ron Hubbard: “Un ser es valioso en la medida en que pueda ayudar a otros” y a mí me gusta ayudar. Ahora que está sucediendo la crisis de Venezuela llevé víveres, medicinas, pañales y cosas para bebés a la ayuda humanitaria que se mandó desde Doral a Venezuela. Soy mexicano pero vivimos en el mismo planeta y lo que le pasa a otro me importa a mí.

Do you think you have a sense of COMMUNITY? IT ’S A WORD THAT IS OFTEN HEARD, BUT DO YOU REALLY KNOW THE MEANING OF COMMUNITY?

It is that feeling of being part of a group (like a city, neighborhood), a shared feeling that collective needs will be met under a cooperative commitment among all its members.

If you live in Doral, you have probably felt this way at some point, or perhaps constantly.

Being part of a community carries with it a level of responsibility for everyone to enjoy a life in harmony. This responsibility includes respect for public regulations, the use of ethical values, and consideration for others.

Now I ask you: if someone dumps cans, papers or a mattress near your yard or in front of your house, how would you feel? The answer is obvious.

The same applies to the streets and common areas of the city. Dumping tires, furniture, or large pieces of garbage in areas that are apparently abandoned or not inhabited is considered a crime, as well as being a sign of bad taste and education, and the fines are up to $ 400.

If you analyze it carefully, those areas are also part of your community! By littering them you would be affecting the value or perception of the city in which you live.

Si lo analizas detenidamente, ¡esas áreas también son parte de tu comunidad! Al ensuciarlas se estaría afectando el valor o percepción de valor de la ciudad en la cual vives.

What is binge eating?

Binge eating is a disorder that is characterized by having a compulsive need to eat food in large quantities, and continue eating unable to stop even when feeling satiated. It is diagnosed when it occurs to a person at least once a week and continuously for at least 3 months.

Generally we think of eating disorders as anorexia and bulimia but binge eating is quite frequent. It wasn’t until 2013 when it was recognized as a disease, that it was brought up as a risk factor for another series of pathologies associated with nutrition, such as obesity, metabolic diseases, and diabetes among others.

The triggering motive is diverse, on the one hand, restrictive diets where a vulnerable person is subjected to eliminate nutrients (especially carbohydrates) can very easily lead to binge eating.

Another trigger is traumatic situations. Whenever there is an eating disorder there is an emotion that is being repressed. This is how psychological disorders can trigger uncontrolled eating, so in this case food is not the problem but the symptom. Many people seek to hide from emotion by taking refuge in food to “avoid” suffering.

It is important to be clear that treatment is multidisciplinary, it must be done by a team of psychologists and nutritionists so together they can help the patient improve the relationship with food.

Generalmente creemos que los desórdenes alimenticios son solo la anorexia y la bulimia pero el atracón está siendo bastante frecuente en las personas. Fue en el 2013 cuando se aceptó como una enfermedad que trae como factor de riesgo otra serie de patologías asociadas a la nutrición, como obesidad, enfermedades metabólicas, diabetes, entre otras.

El motivo desencadenante es diverso, por una parte, dietas restrictivas donde una persona vulnerable se somete a eliminar nutrientes (especialmente carbohidratos) hacen que terminen muy fácilmente en el atracón.

Otro desencadenante son situaciones traumáticas. Siempre que hay un trastorno alimenticio hay una emoción que no se expresa, es así como los trastornos psicológicos pueden desencadenar en comer de manera descontrolada, entonces en este caso la comida no es el problema sino el síntoma y muchas personas buscan esconder una emoción refugiándose en la comida para “evitar” el sufrimiento.

Es importante tener claro que debe tratarse multidisciplinariamente, con un equipo de psicólogos y nutricionistas para que juntos ayuden al paciente a mejorar la relación con la comida.

HIRVIENDO AGUA CON...

INGREDIENTS • 1 can of 15 ounces of chickpeas • 1 small garlic clove • 1 tablespoon of tahini • 1 lemon • Extra virgin olive oil • Paprika • Toasted sesame seeds • A pinch of sea salt

HUMMUS

DIRECTIONS 1. Drain and dump the chickpeas in a food processor.

2. Peel and add the garlic, then add the tahini, followed by a good amount of lemon juice and a tablespoon of olive oil.

3. Season with a pinch of sea salt.

4. Use a spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl, then process again until smooth.

5. Taste and add more lemon juice or a splash of water to loosen, if necessary, then transfer to a serving bowl.

Make a hole in the middle with a spoon, add a little olive oil and season with a little paprika and toasted sesame seeds.

6. Serve with crispy sliced vegetables, such as carrots, cucumbers, radishes or peppers.

INGREDIENTES • 1 lata de 400 gr. de garbanzos • 1 diente de ajo pequeño • 1 cucharada de tahini • 1 limón • Aceite de oliva virgen extra • Paprika • Semillas de sésamo tostadas • Una pizca de sal marina

P R E PA R A C I Ó N 1. Escurrir y volcar los garbanzos en un procesador de alimentos.

2. Pelar y agregar el ajo, luego agregar el tahini, seguido de una buena cantidad de jugo de limón y una cucharada de aceite de oliva.

3. Sazonar con una pizca de sal marina.

4. Usar una espátula para raspar por los lados del tazón, luego procesar nuevamente hasta que esté suave.

5. Probar y agregar más jugo de limón o un chorrito de agua para aflojar, si es necesario, luego transferir a un tazón para servir. Hacerle un hueco en el medio con una cuchara, añadir un poco de aceite de oliva y sazonar con un poco de paprika y semillas de sésamo tostadas.

6. Servir con verduras crujientes rebanadas, como zanahorias, pepinos, rábanos o pimientos.
