A resolution of the Mayor and the City Council of the City of Doral, approved an agreement with Landscape Structures for the provision of installing new surfacing for the splash pad at the Doral Legacy Park. The new surfacing will enhance safety and reduce chances of slips when the splash is operational.

The northbound direction was opened on 102nd Avenue from 66th Street to NW 74th Street. The road will be fully opened once the traffic signal at the intersection is completed. Thanks to Public Works Department for the great work.

The City of Doral is working on improving the Trolley system and is currently making adjustments to the trolley schedules. 2020!

As we enter the year 2020, I am reminded of the simple yet profound value of being grateful. Beginnings are always best when they are met with a simple, “thank you.”

It is an awesome responsibility to be a Miami-Dade School Board Member, and it is one that I am thankful for. Since 2012 you have entrusted me to work closely with and represent the 20 Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) schools in District 5. What a privilege it is to be able to create policy that comes from the ideas, concerns, and the needs of the students, parents and District 5 community stakeholders. These policies enhance the quality of education that students have access to, provide opportunities to strengthen security in our schools, and better our mental

health programs, to name a few.

It really does take a village to raise a healthy child and I am thankful for this village.

I am grateful for the opportunity to work side by side with so many wonderful professionals and hardworking people like the Principals, the teachers and all of the staff at our schools, the PTAs, my fellow Board members, my staff, too many colleagues to count in the Miami-Dade County Public School system, our local, County, State and federal government partners, to name just a few.

Thank you to each one of you for believing in me and trusting me to always put this community’s best interests first in the work I do on the Miami Dade County School Board.

Comenzando el año 2020, recuerdo el valor simple pero profundo de estar agradecida. Los comienzos siempre son mejores cuando son recibidos con una simple “gracias”.

Ser miembro de la Junta Escolar de Miami-Dade es una gran responsabilidad, y es algo por lo que estoy agradecida. Desde el 2012, me han confiado que trabaje en conjunto y represente a las 20 escuelas públicas del condado de Miami-Dade (MDCPS) en el Distrito 5. Qué privilegio es poder crear una política que surja de las ideas, preocupaciones y necesidades de los estudiantes, padres y partes interesadas de la comunidad del Distrito 5. Estas políticas mejoran la calidad de la educación a la que los estudiantes tienen acceso, brindan oportunidades para fortalecer la seguridad en nuestras escuelas y mejorar nuestros programas de salud mental, entre otras cosas.

Realmente se necesita un pueblo para criar a un niño sano y estoy agradecida por este pueblo.

Estoy agradecida por la oportunidad de trabajar codo a codo con tantos profesionales maravillosos y personas trabajadoras como los directores, los maestros y todo el personal de nuestras escuelas, la PTA, mis compañeros miembros de la Junta, mi personal, son muchos los colegas por mencionar en el sistema de escuelas públicas del Condado Miami-Dade, como nuestros socios gubernamentales locales, del condado, estatales y federales, por solo nombrar algunos.

Gracias a cada uno de ustedes por creer en mí y confiar en que yo siempre pondré primero los mejores intereses de esta comunidad en el trabajo que hago con la Junta Escolar del Condado de Miami Dade. ¡Por un gran 2020!

By Daniela Giampapa - Bendayán The common denominator of a humorist with great success and popularity is a very active nightlife, frequent nightclubs, and his day to day is an “eternal party”. David Comedia is the exception of the rule. He prefers to stay at home and share with his family to going to red carpets to show himself. He is a family man who prefers to be at home. He doesn't like nightclubs, in fact. He prefers to have a party in his house, with his artist friends than going out to a nightclub, in this way, he is surrounded by his son Emiliano, 19, his daughter Leticia, 11, and his wife Betzabeth, with whom he has a 20 years marriage.

What is the most difficult thing about having to emigrate?

To accept that I will not see my parents in a long time because they live in Venezuela.

It is difficult to achieve so many goals and not have them to share those moments with them.

I arrived 5 years ago to the United States, with $ 200 to a friend's house. During the day I washed dishes and cars and at night I was a waiter. Being a waiter I had to work in events and see other comedians on stage while I was serving food. You know the frustration it feels, right? They are life experiences.

A month and a half after getting a work permit, I started promoting my show but nobody knew me, nobody went.

El común denominador de un humorista con mucho éxito y renombre es que tenga una vida social nocturna muy activa, frecuente discotecas y su día a día sea una “eterna fiesta”. David Comedia es la excepción de la regla. Él opta por quedarse en casa y compartir con su familia que ir a alfombras rojas a figurar. Es muy hogareño. No le gustan las discotecas, de hecho. Prefiere hacer un rumbón en su casa, con sus amigos artistas que salir a un local nocturno, de esta forma, está rodeado de su hijo Emiliano de 19 años, de su hija Leticia de 11 y de su esposa Betzabeth, con quien tiene 20 años de matrimonio.

¿Qué es lo más difícil de haber emigrado?

Aceptar que no voy a ver a mis padres en mucho tiempo porque ellos viven en Venezuela. Es difícil alcanzar tantas metas y no tenerlos al lado para compartir con ellos esos momentos.

Llegué hace 5 años a Estados Unidos, con $200 a casa de un amigo. En el día lavaba

platos y carros y en la noche era mesonero.

Siendo camarero me tocaba trabajar en eventos y ver a otros comediantes en tarima y yo sirviendo comida. ¿Sabes la frustración que se siente, no? Son experiencias de la vida.

Al mes y medio de obtener el permiso de trabajo comencé a promocionar mi show pero nadie me conocía, nadie iba.

How did you go from being the waiter to the humorist on stage?

The last time I worked as a waiter I cut my hand carrying some tables, hit myself against a wall and broke it; the owner of the place, seeing that I was injured, told me that I could not continue working and fired me.

Three years later I was hired to do a show at Doral in the same place where I had worked as a waiter. The owner told me that if she hadn't fired me that day, I would still be serving tables there. That is why we have to thank God even for the bad things that happen.

I am a great believer in God. Since I arrived in the USA I have learned to put everything in his hands, that gives me peace and quiet.

I put everything in God's hands but I work for my dreams.

Tell us about Promesa It’s a movie that we will begin production in the first quarter of this year in Hollywood, Los Angeles. It’s about people who emigrate from their country promising that they will return but never do. Jhosimar Vasquez is the director and Eugenio Derbez is expected to be the protagonist. I will play the owner of a Venezuelan restaurant.

What takes away your smile and the desire to do humor?

When something ugly happens in Venezuela, when someone is killed in a protest, cases like Neomar Lander.

Why did you stop making political humor?

Because my family in Venezuela asked me and not because they are Chavez supporters.

That experience taught me a great lesson.

Meanwhile I was working as a parking valet. People were already getting to know me, especially through social networks.

It happened to me many times that they would call me to do a show and I had to refuse it, although I was going to earn 5 times more than what I earned with the valet parking, but if I was absent from work and I would be fired.

One day Jaime Bayly named me on his show, then interviewed me and things began to change there. When my wife started working as a waitress, I decided to devote myself exclusively to comedy.

She didn't want me to return to comedy.

A month later we moved from one room to an apartment and I showed her that dreams could be achieved.

I was on George Harris Show, in El Chinchorro, then I did “La asamblea del Humor,” stands up comedy, recently I did the show “Con el Guiso Dando” and in December I finished a tour that took me almost a year. This year I started with the show “Mesoneros por una noche” with Nelly Pujols. I have many projects for this year.

• Suffers from vitiligo so he doesn't like to go to the beach.

Soy muy creyente en Dios. Desde que llegué a EE.UU. he aprendido a poner todo en manos de él, eso me da paz y tranquilidad.

Pongo todo en manos de Dios pero trabajo por mis sueños.

Esa experiencia me dio una gran lección.

Mientras tanto trabajaba como valet parking. Ya la gente me estaba empezando a conocer, especialmente por las redes sociales. Muchas veces me pasó que me llamaban para hacer un show y tenía que rechazarlo, aunque me iba a ganar 5 veces más de lo que ganaba con el valet parking, pero si me ausentaba del trabajo me despedían.

Un día Jaime Bayly me nombró en su programa, luego me entrevistó y ahí comenzaron a cambiar las cosas. Cuando mi esposa comenzó a trabajar como camarera, yo decidí dedicarme exclusivamente a hacer comedia. Ella no quería que yo regresara a la comedia. Al mes nos mudamos de una habitación a un apartamento y le demostré que sí se podían alcanzar los sueños.

¿Qué te quita la sonrisa y las ganas de hacer humor?

Cuando pasa algo feo en Venezuela, cuando asesinan a alguien en una manifestación, casos como el de Neomar Lander.

¿Por qué dejaste de hacer humor político?

Porque mi familia en Venezuela me lo pidió y no porque sean chavistas.

¿Sabías que David…?

• Siempre ora antes de subir a un escenario: “Señor, Padre bueno, este show es para ti, pon en mi boca las palabras necesarias para hacer reír a estas personas que están aquí.

Bendigo este lugar, bendigo mi trabajo y a todo el público que vino hoy”.

• Tiene clorofobia (fobia al color verde).

• Habla solo en el carro. Así practica voces para sus personajes.

• Sufre de vitíligo por lo que no le gusta ir a la playa.

• No se pinta el cabello y no usa peluquín.

¿Cómo pasaste de ser el mesonero al humorista en tarima?

La última vez que trabajé como camarero me corté una mano cargando unas mesas, me golpeé contra un muro y me la rompí; la dueña del lugar al ver que estaba lesionado, me dijo que no podía seguir trabajando y me despidió.

Tres años después me contrataron para hacer un show en Doral en el mismo lugar donde yo había trabajado como mesero. La dueña del local me dijo que si ella no me hubiese despedido aquel día, yo todavía JANUARY 2020

Freedom will always be conditioned to the environment where you are, the conditions, external factors. Being free is oriented to the options you choose within that environment where you develop. Being free is in your being, and if you decide to choose the conditions of feeling bad or imprisoned in your life, it has nothing to do with the environment, it has to do with you.

INGREDIENTS 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 2 tablespoons sugar ½ teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 eggs separating the yolk from the whites ½ tablespoon vegetable oil 2 cups of milk 1 teaspoon vanilla

PREPARATION 1. Preheat waffle pan, spray with nonstick spray to cook and set aside.

2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and cinnamon.

3. In a medium bowl, beat the egg whites with a hand mixer until they are stiff. Set aside.

4. In a separate medium bowl, mix the egg yolks, vegetable oil, milk and vanilla extract.

5. Add the egg yolk mixture to the dry ingredients and mix well.

6. Add the egg whites.

7. Pour the dough onto the hot waffle pan and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.

8. Serve immediately with butter, syrup, powdered sugar or any other favorite ingredient.
