It's amazing how fast this year went by. We thank you all for allowing us to enter your homes month after month. To say goodbye to 2019 and welcome you to 2020, we interview Las Payasitas Nifu Nifa, who after 35 years of artistic career were nominated for the Latin Grammy XX. At Christmas dinner you cannot miss a Christmas Cranberry Mimosa, but if your palate prefers something creamier, our chef Eduardo Franco gives you the recipe to prepare a delicious Venezuelan-style Eggnog. If you go shopping during these holidays, it is important that you read the recommendations given by the Doral Police Department. Councilwoman Christi Fraga became Vice Mayor for the City of Doral. Per section 2.02(b) of the City of Doral Charter, determines that the Vice Mayor position by default rotates every year, “at the first Council meeting in the month of November, the Vice Mayor shall be appointed to serve a one year term”. UHealth Medical Center is scheduled to open in summer 2022 in Downtown Doral. This important facility will include Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, a Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, specialty clinics for cardiology, neurology and primary care, four operating rooms for outpatient surgical procedures and an imaging center capable of mammography, ultrasound, MRI, CT and PET scans. The record Bim Bom Bam! was the bridge to receive the Latin Grammy Awards nomination for Best Latin Music Album for Children. La producción discográfica Bim Bom Bam! fue el puente para recibir la nominación a los Premios Latin Grammy como Mejor Álbum de Música Latina para Niño. They stood out among the public for their colorful and fun wigs. For them, having gone to Las Vegas “represents an honor and a responsibility to their family. It motivates us to continue with new productions, to always have current music backed with lyrics made with purpose so that children, in addition to enjoying them, playing, and laughing, also get to learn.” Although the group The Lucky Band obtained the statuette, the fact of having lived such a wonderful experience and having shared the stage next to the great lights of the entertainment world, made them the big winners of the night.

They are two different generations, “in fact, times have changed, technology helps everyone to advance rapidly, especially children because it allows us to make an immediate connection, thanks to social networks we keep in contact every moment, this is how we feel much closer.” The Payasitas Nifu Nifa say that in the 80s and 90s they depended 100% on TV, radio or print media interviews but today everything has changed. Their audience, children, are more demanding, since they are very authentic and do not filter, they say everything as they feel it, a situation that makes them insurmountably, adorable and irreplaceable.

Happy Birthday! Las Payasitas have decided to celebrate their 35 years of artistic career with no less than a full year of visiting different countries to get closer to as many children and families. They will go anywhere they are call and work hand in hand with foundations that protect the child and the family. During all these years there have been hundreds of young women who have gone through Payasitas Nifu Nifa‘s training, they are girls who love to work with children and spend their free time having fun and educating, devoted to the most important thing that we have as human beings: our childhood. There are 8 clowns, each with a different color. Gianna Lodi, founder, while training her girls and getting to know them one by one, she assigns the color according to her personality by her own intuition.

Los niños de los 80 y 90 que cantaban y bailaban Alibombo, Ki Ki Kí Co Co Có, Sana sana colita de rana, Ilarié, Regálame tu foto, Hola Don Pepito, En un bosque de la China, son los que ahora llevan a sus hijos a las presentaciones de las Payasitas Nifu Nifa para que los pequeños aprendan a través de la diversión mientras que sus padres reviven maravillosos momentos de su infancia. Son dos generaciones diferentes, “en efecto los tiempos han cambiado, la tecnología ayuda a un avance veloz para todos, en especial a los niños ya que nos permite tener conexión inmediata, gracias a las redes sociales mantenemos contacto a cada instante, es así como nos sentimos mucho más cerca”. Las Payasitas cuentan que en los 80 y 90 dependían al 100% de una entrevista de TV, radio o de un medio impreso pero hoy día todo ha cambiado. Su público, los niños, son más exigentes, ya que ellos son muy auténticos y no filtran, dicen todo tal cual lo sienten, situación que los hace insuperablemente, adorables e insustituibles.

Las Payasitas han decidido celebrar sus 35 años de trayectoria artística nada más y nada menos que durante un año completo visitando diferentes países para así acercarse a muchos niños y familias. Ellas irán a cualquier lugar donde las llamen y trabajarán de la mano con fundaciones que protejan al niño y a la familia. Durante todos estos años han sido cientos las jóvenes que han pasado por la formación de Payasitas Nifu Nifa, son chicas a las que les encanta trabajar con niños y dedicar su tiempo libre divirtiendo y educando lo más importante que tiene el ser humano: su niñez. Son 8 payasitas, cada una con un color diferente. ver the course of the past 39 years, Miami-Dade County Public Schools has welcomed and encouraged parents to be involved in the Attendance Boundary Committee (ABC) process. School attendance boundaries dictate which school your child will attend and is dependent on where you live. For the 2019-2020 Earlier in December, MiamiDade County Public Schools had the first ABC Meeting where Region Superintendents presented our ABC members with the schools that will be the focus of attendance boundary change recommendations for the upcoming school year. With plans already in place for the opening of two new schools in the City of Doral, we will begin to make changes to school boundaries starting with John I. Smith K-8
Center and Dr. Rolando Espinosa K-8 Center. We will be scheduling a series of community meetings beginning January to discuss possible boundary changes to Doral public schools for the 20192020 school year and to also get input from the community on recommended changes. To provide the best for our students, your participation in the community meetings is necessary. Please make sure to keep up with our updates so that you do not miss the dates for these meetings.

• 6 egg yolks • 1 can of condensed milk • 2 cups whole milk • A lime rind • ½ cup of Venezuelan Rum (I use Cacique) • Nutmeg • Vanilla

1. In a pot large enough, cook the milk at low temperature. Separately beat the egg yolks. 2. Add the egg yolks to the milk and the lime rind. Then a teaspoon of vanilla and nutmeg. 3. Stir with a wooden spoon and always leave it to cook at a low temperature to prevent the yolks from clotting. 4. Let the mixture rest a while as to lower the temperature of the liquid, which at this point should be somewhat thick. 5. Add the condensed milk, rum, and mix well. Let stand until it is at room temperature and pass the mixture through the blender. 6. Bottle in previously sterilized glass containers, covered and store it in the refrigerator.

Luego una cucharadita de vainilla y nuez moscada. 3. Remover con una cuchara de madera y dejar siempre a temperatura baja para evitar que las yemas coagulen. 4. Esperar a que repose un rato y que baje un poco la temperatura del líquido, el cual en este punto debe estar algo espeso. 5. Agregar la leche condensada, el ron y mezclar bien. Dejar reposar hasta que esté a temperatura ambiente y pasar la mezcla por la licuadora. 6. Embotellar en envases de vidrio previamente esterilizados, tapados y guardados en la nevera.

The need to educate “perfect children” is a subtle and direct way of giving the world unhappy children. The pressure of demand will always accompany them and even more so if their education is based on the absence of positive stimuli and affection. It is clear that as parents we want our children to succeed but above all is their happiness. Nobody wants their teenagers to develop depression or be so demanding of themselves that they don’t know what it is to allow themselves to enjoy, smile or make mistakes.
