Maya brings another McIntyre to life Former local journalist & Narrawong author ready to launch her fourth novel The advice often given to aspiring authors is to write what you know and so that is exactly what Maya Linnell has done and this Friday, the former Limestone Coast local will launch her fourth novel at the Millicent Library. The former journalist knows life in regional Australia and the now Narrawong-based romance author will launch her much anticipated fourth novel Paperbark Hill, at 7pm, this Friday, at the Millicent Library. Since turning her hand to writing about matters of the heart, Maya has carved a successful career that has seen her previous three novels receive critical acclaim, also finding their way onto best sellers lists. a tale of life and love against the backdrop of rural Australia. In Paperbark Hill, Diana and her four boys have had a tough eighteen months but with the love and support of her family, she believes their lives are finally back on track. Diana’s dream of starting a flower farm has been the perfect diversion, with an elderly dahlia expert showing her the ropes. She won’t have to do this alone. Locum pharmacist and single dad Ned Gardiner hasn’t called Victoria home for years. However his father’s death forces Ned to return to the family farm, a place that holds few happy memories for him. Dealing with his estranged mother and sorting his father’s affairs, he plans on leaving as soon as possible, but what will it take for Ned to put down roots? With six children between them, can this pair juggle families, farms and the possibility of a blossoming romance? Such is Maya’s storytelling ability that even if you are sure you know

the answer to that question, you will still want to read every page of her latest book. Paperbark Hill is the final story about the McIntyre sisters, following Wildflower Ridge, Bottlebrush Creek and Magpie’s Bend. For fans of Maya’s first three instalments, picking up a copy of Paperbark Hill is a no-brainer but the praise from those who have already earned a sneak peak of her four novels is certainly recommendation enough. “I thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful story and was particularly impressed with Maya’s garden knowledge and how her flower references throughout were always in tune with the seasons,” Victorian-based flower farmer @ FlorelieSeasonalFlowers Lorelie Merton. With fellow bestselling author Karly Lane also impressed. “Maya Linnell does it again with her warm country charm, family drama and loveable characters.” It is safe to say placing her latest heroine, Diane McIntyre, as a flower farmer is no coincidence, given Maya’s penchant for all things floral and dreams of establishing her own flower farm, and photos from her own garden featured on the front cover of Paperbark Hill. While Maya is categorised as a romance novelist, no story is one dimensional and Paperbark Hill also tackles grief, family dynamics, addiction and the burgeoning ‘grown not flown’ movement within the Australian flower industry. Maya’s book launch at the Millicent Library will see her in conversation with fellow Millicent alumni Rebekah Lowe and if you are new to Maya’s work, if you love the work of Fleur McDonald,
