Some women are lost in the fire; others become it. There is no power like that of a woman. The leaders of households and nations alike, women have always had the power to change the world. Here is how to unlock the full potential of your feminine power and go into the world empowered, stronger, and ready to face any obstacle that comes your way.

1. Make peace with your broken pieces

Throughout history, female beauty standards have severely impacted how women see themselves. A powerful woman accepts herself, even with her faults. She puts in the time to face insecurities and with time, learns how to conquer them. She loves herself despite the scars, cellulite, breakouts, or curves. Beauty standards are ridiculous and who says the people who created them were perfect? Women are worth more than any standards anyway. 2. Like Rihanna said: Work, work, work!

The key to unlocking your power is to work at it. After all, a hard-working woman is ten times more powerful than a woman who depends on others for success. Oprah Winfrey worked her way out of poverty. Marilyn Monroe persevered, even when rejected by multiple modelling agencies. Malala Yousafzai risked her life working for girls ’ education. Hard work is power.

3. Empowered women empower women

No one knows what it’ s like to be a woman except for other women. However, there are still women out there who feel the need to belittle their sisters. Empowering others

doesn ’t only unlock your own power, but like a butterfly effect tends to make others feel more confident about themselves. The way to do this is to simply be a cheerleader. Celebrate your sisters ’ achievements and lift them up in times of doubt.

Mean girl behaviour is for the weak. Powerful women understand the impact that kindness can have on a person ’ s life.

Within a woman is the power to create, nurture, and transform. Dear Kasteel lady, you are beautiful, and you are powerful. You have a Wonder Woman inside you, and you can conquer the world.

We all know and have watched the movie, Legally Blonde. Well, not to contradict style icon Elle Woods, who said, “Whoever said orange is the new black was seriously deranged” , but colourful tops are making a huge comeback! Orange, yellow, green and all the colours we once deemed to be

“flashy ” or “ ugly ” are now starting to become the staple pieces in everyone ’ s closets. If you really want to stand out and up your colourful style, you can wear a colourful top with a colourful bottom. Pink, orange, and red go extremely well together, as does green and purple. So-called “ ugly ” sweaters are also making a huge comeback. These sweaters normally have patterns on them and were deemed as “ ugly ” or “too vintage ” to be worn. Pair them with a good set of jeans and you will definitely be turning a few heads!

If bright and flashy aren ’t your thing, you don ’t have to jump on the bandwagon and go buying new clothes just to fit in. Each person has a different style, and each style is beautiful in its own way. Fashion is dynamic and it changes often, wear something you like that makes you feel confident. Remember, style, especially good style, is in the eye of the beholder, or in this case the wearer. SISTERHOOD OF THE

The ladies in our residence have a wide array of interests and passions when it comes to what they read in their spare time, books that have made them ache with laughter or well up with tears. Who knows, maybe you find your new favourite amongst theirs…

Eliske van Vuuren : “Life Lessons from the Monk who Sold His Ferrari” by Robin Sharma Noko Magwai : “The Sun and Her Flowers ” by Rupi Kaur Mia du Preez : “Verity

” by Colleen Hoover

“This book is magical, providing you with 101 lessons on how to achieve happiness, be inspired, and live a peaceful life. The best part is that the chapters are short and addictive, so it

doesn ’t take long to finish the whole book. I would definitely recommend this book if you are feeling down, and you want to get back on track again. ” I would highly recommend this book to my fellow Kasteel sisters, especially those who have experienced tragedy, loss, and suffering in their lives. "People must wilt, fall, root and rise in order to bloom " . This book gave me so much empowerment and energy to love myself and the world we live in. I could never have imagined how important this book would become to me when I picked it up at the bookstore. ” “I couldn

’t put the book down. We were on holiday and I read the book all the way to the Cape, during the visit, and on the drive back. I finished it that evening. This book reminded me of the joys of reading. This book was also mindboggling; to this day I am not sure what to feel. It was truly such a creepy , intriguing, perplexing read.

SELF-LOVE GUIDE

BY: MOLEBATSI SEROKA

Self-love is about having your own best interests at heart. True self love can be present in anything that adds value to your life, from your diet, to your spiritual rituals, or the way you interact in your personal relationships. And of course a significant aspect of self-love is acceptance, being content with who you are as you are. As a result, self love is empowerment. When you love yourself, life will begin to love you back.

If you are struggling with self love this is for you!

STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS. You are unique on this earth and cannot reasonably be compared to anyone else. You are the only one to whom you should compare yourself. Theodore Roosevelt said,

“Comparison is the thief of joy. ” Stop self-doubt and self-sabotage. Quit talking down on yourself.

STOP BEING TOO HARD ON YOURSELF You are a brilliant, individual being who has been imprisoned by insecurity and self-doubt. As a result, you follow all of life ' s dull, soul-crushing rules rather than living out the amazing truth of who you truly are. The drawback is that it prevents you from living a fulfilling life. One of the biggest things that might prevent someone from loving themselves is being hard on themselves.

STEP OUTSIDE OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE Taking a risk is one of the best ways to show yourself love. The joy you experience when you realize you have accomplished something you didn ’t know you could do is fantastic.

LAUGH There are many benefits to laughter, and it’ s a part of self-care. Learn to do things that make you laugh and spend your day joyously.

ELIMINATE NEGATIVE SELF TALK It’ s no secret that the way we communicate with ourselves plays a major role in the way we see and experience the world around us. That’ s why being mindful of these very delicate words we use on a regular basis is extremely important.

USE POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS

Practicing positivity isn ’t about disregarding the unfortunate nature of a situation, but instead acknowledging that you will find a way around it. And trust me you will

SMILE WHENEVER YOU SEE YOUR

REFLECTION IN THE MIRROR. I know for a fact that this sounds silly, but it surely boosts one ’ s mood.
