OP BH Social Services Employee of the Month - Candice Barton
In the drawer of the former security desk in the CBHR lobby, you will find folders with coloring sheets and Sudoku sheets, along with one-time use pencils and individual boxes of crayons These can be accessed for patients or other visitors waiting in the lobby who may need a quiet activity to help them pass the time Please note that both crayons and pencils are one time use. Patients can either keep these or throw them away when done using them, but they do not need to be returned to us and cannot be given to another patient
If the coloring sheets or Sudoku sheets needs to be restocked, you can access them in the Peer Support folder on the Shared drive, in a sub folder called “Activity Sheets ” (link below) Please print and photocopy more as needed If you find other activity sheets (i e word searches, crosswords, etc ) that patients request, you can add to this folder, please just ensure there are no copyright restrictions on the document
S:\PSYCHIATRY\Peer Support\Activity Sheets
If we run out of boxes of crayons, we have MANY more boxes in one of the bottom drawers in our staff resource space, where Peer Support sits If we run out of pencils, please notify a manager so they can order more
We are adding these options for our patients because received feedback from our patient experience workgroup regarding the need for patients at CBHR to have a quiet activity to pass the time while waiting to see their provider, particularly our PEC overflow and walk-in patients, who may have longer wait times We also have a child and adolescent clinic on Tuesdays, so this could be beneficial for those patients or other children who attend appointments with their parent/guardian If you would like to have crayons and pencils for your BH clinics please contact Julie Ennis to coordinate
Candice is an exceptional Day Rehab Coordinator at True Worth's Psych Day Rehab program, with 4 years in the role and more than 6 years at JPS. She leads the PDR program effectively by engaging her team and patients, advocating for them, and seeking new ways to serve them. Candice works with her teammates to reach out to the community and other organizations for PDR programming and referrals Recently, Candice and her team received a perfect score on a tracer, reflecting her commitment to high standards Congratulations, Candice, and thank you for all your hard work!
World Fair: The Big Event
Last week, behavioral health hosted a potluck event that showcased the diverse cultures of our employees. As a diverse group of healthcare professionals, we come from many different backgrounds and cultures The event was a great opportunity for everyone to come together, share their favorite dishes, and learn more about each other's backgrounds and traditions
Many employees took the opportunity to share stories about their cultural traditions and the significance of the dishes they had prepared It was fascinating to hear about the different cooking techniques and ingredients used in each dish, and we all learned something new about each other's backgrounds The potluck event helped to foster a greater sense of community and understanding among our team
Our team members were swapping recipes, chatting and laughing together It was clear that the event had been a success, not just in terms of the delicious food, but also in terms of the connections and relationships that had been built among our colleagues
Additionally, during the event, each clinic had the opportunity to create a flag that represents their heritage, background or culture A special prize will be awarded to the winners of the flag making competition, and we are happy to announce Stop Six clinic won! They will be receiving their prizes this week
The World Fair potluck event showcased our employees' cultural heritage and was a wonderful way to promote diversity and inclusivity in the workplace It provided an opportunity for people to learn, appreciate, and celebrate the unique contributions of their colleagues It also helped to build a sense of community and belonging within the workplace We look forward to hosting similar events in the future and continuing to celebrate the diverse cultures that make up our team
Working Together for Patient Experience
As a clinic staff, we all know that providing excellent patient care is our top priority However, we must remember that working together as a team is vital for achieving high levels of patient satisfaction When all members of the team work together seamlessly, patients receive coordinated and comprehensive care that meets their unique needs and preferences That is why our current Key Driver questions is "Staff Worked Together to Care for You " As a reminder a Key Driver question tells us what is most important to our patients, and what has the greatest impact on how our patients rate their overall experience at JPS
By working together, we can improve the patient experience in several ways For example, when staff members are in sync, patients do not have to repeat their medical history or concerns multiple times to different care providers Also, when the entire team is focused on providing quality care, there are fewer errors or delays in the care process, which can increase patient confidence and trust.
Arlington PHP has been recognized as having the highest patient satisfaction among clinics in our area with the highest sample size One of the reasons for this is their strong emphasis on teamwork Staff members collaborate closely to ensure that each patient receives the best possible care This includes communicating effectively, sharing information, and supporting each other to provide top-notch care
To ensure that our clinic continues to deliver exceptional care and achieve high levels of patient satisfaction, we must all work together as a team This means being open to feedback and suggestions from our colleagues, communicating effectively, and supporting each other in delivering quality care Let us aim for the best care for our patients and create a culture of collaboration and teamwork in our clinic
Thank you for your continued dedication to our patients' health and well-being

Staffing Updates
We wanted to inform you of some exciting staffing updates within our Behavioral Health department.
Firstly, Marquita Martin, who has been the Embedded BH Specialist for the NE Medical Home for over 8 years now, will be transitioning to the Southeast Medical Home and taking over Kim Thrasher's role. Marquita’s experience and expertise will be an asset to any clinic, and although the providers at NE Medical Home will miss her, we are excited for her new challenge and shorter commute.
Furthermore, Heather Mccurry, who is currently a BH Counselor for PHP at Viola Pitts, has accepted a position as an Individual Therapist at Viola Pitts. Vanessa Olson, our current PRN Behavioral Health Specialist, has accepted a full-time position as a BH Counselor at the Viola Pitts location.
In addition, Miyori Pullen will be joining our team on May 1 as the newest PRN Behavioral Health Specialist, and Jane King Wamuyu will be our full-time therapist for True Worth and Healing Wings, beginning in June.
We have also hired Shaterra Davis as an RN for PHP at Central Arlington Clinic. Shaterra will be in PHP starting early April. And, Alyssa Weaver will be transferring from inpatient on April 17 to be the new PHP RN at CBHR.
TCHATT is thrilled to announce that Christi Weaver has joined us as the new TCHATT Team Lead (see back for bio.) In addition, we have recently welcomed two new therapists to the TCHATT team: Patty Ragan and Lacreshia Franklin. Patty has experience in telehealth with children, while Lacreshia has worked with children in the foster care system and has solid hospital experience. Furthermore, we are pleased to announce Heather Zipper will be transitioning from her role as TCHATT Case Manager to TCHATT Therapist.
Heather has been an invaluable resource for TCHATT over the last year and we are excited to have her as one of our therapists. We are also welcoming Shelly Louis, Claudine Mukanyamwasa, and “Jay” Lopez to our TCHATT team as Case Managers. Each brings unique experiences to help round out our Case Management team.
We are excited to see how these staffing updates will benefit our team and the patients we serve. Please join us in welcoming our new team members and congratulating those who are transitioning to new roles.
New Therapy Schedules
We are excited to announce we have finally been granted the 2 additional FTE's for the Therapy service line, bringing us to a total of nine Outpatient BH therapists. This will allow us enough FTE's to assign a therapist to each satellite clinic full time.
The therapy structure as of July 1 will be as follows:
CBHR: Angela Hunter, Andrew Santi and Shantel Green
Stop Six: Emily Wills-Thames
START MAT: Lindsay Sorensen
Northeast BH: Sheree Johnson
Viola Pitts: One full time therapist but the role is currently vacant Southeast BH and Central Arlington: Jamie Portillo (SEBH on Mondays and Tu-F at CAB)
True Worth and Healing Wings: Will share 1 therapist but the role is currently vacant (HW-3 days/week and TW-2 days/week)
You will be seeing reminders as we get closer to the change taking effect. For now, things will continue as is because we still have some vacancies and because the therapists' current templates are open through June with the old structure. We will continue to send updates as the change nears. But this is a HUGE win for OPBH and for our patients as it will greatly improve access to therapy services!
As another reminder, the Intake team will be moving to the 4-day work week as of April 1. The templates are already in place and being scheduled into. Please reach out to Jenessa Englishbee for any questions regarding these upcoming changes.

Similarly, CPAN has not only exceeded its prior top consultation month, but also met the goal set for them by the end of May This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of CPAN's team in providing exceptional services In addition, CPAN is set to welcome a new Project Educator in May This new position will allow the CPAN team to provide more educational opportunities for providers and licensed clinicians We will keep you updated as more details become available
