About the Linn-Mar Colton Center Jazz Ensemble:

Linn-Mar’s Colton Center Jazz Linn-Mar’s Colton Center Jazz Ensemble is the premier jazz ensemble and one of four jazz bands at Linn-Mar High School. This band is made up of 18 musicians in grades 10-12. Colton Center Jazz Ensemble’s season highlights include the Linn-Mar Jazz-a-Thon, their Java n’ Jazz concert featuring guest trombonist and educator Anthony Williams, the State Jazz Band Festival, the Liberty Jazz Festival, Coe Jazz Summit, and the NEIBA Jazz Festival.

The Colton Center Ensemble also is Eastern Iowa's top finisher in the Iowa Jazz Championships, with a 2nd place finish in Class 4A.

About Cory Schmitt:

Cory Schmitt previously served as the Director of Bands at Forest City High School and Middle School, as well as the Director of Wind Symphony and Adjunct Professor at Waldorf University. His ensembles earned Division I superior ratings at every state-level event they attended, as well as 1st place finishes at the Adventureland Festival of Band and 4-time consecutive champions at the Algona Band Days Marching Contest.He is currently working on his doctorate at the University of Iowa.
