About Anamosa Jazz I:

Anamosa High School Jazz I has had a wild 2023 season. After receiving a Division II rating at the IHSMA competition the band was snowed out of 2 of their 4 jazz competitions. Patience is key though, and Jazz I won the Coe College Jazz Summit for class 3A placing 1st out of 16 bands. They then went on to place 1st at the District NEIBA Jazz Festival, automatically qualifying them for the Iowa Jazz Championships for the first time in 29 Years! And the excitement didn't stop there, as Jazz I placed in the prestigious top 8 bands in their class.
About Johnny Hartleip

Johnny Hartleip is a senior at the University of Northern Iowa who didn’t travel very far from home to go to college, because he is a graduate of the (excellent) Cedar Falls High School band program, directed by frequent Corridor Jazz guest artist Kyle Engelhardt. In addition to classes and performing, Johnny is an officer of the music fraternity at UNI, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Apparently their chapter has two big projects. They cook grilled cheese on weekend nights for hungry, partying students. And they organize the Tallcorn Jazz Festival, which many of our bands compete in.
Johnny and Mr. Gomez also didn’t have to look very far to find a chart. Alternate Title is a Chris Merz composition. It’s called Alternate Title because Chris’s original title can’t be uttered in polite company (If you’re curious, track Mr. Chris down and maybe he’ll tell you).
