About the Liberty Jazz Ensemble:

Liberty HS is in its 6th year of existence and already achieving great success as a music department. This year, many Corridor Jazz Bands performed at the 5th Annual Liberty Jazz Festival, while the Liberty Jazz Band has had performances at the Iowa City Jazz Festival, Simpson Jazz Festival, Coe College Jazz Summit, and the SEIBA Jazz Festival. Additionally, the Jazz Ensemble has performed 4 concerts in the community with many Liberty alumni performing in and around the Corridor in groups of their own.

About Ryan Middleton

Mr. Arp didn't have to look far for his soloist this year, just down Highway 965 a ways to West High. Ryan Middleton is in his first year as a band director at West High. Prior to arriving in Iowa City, Middleton served as director of bands at Okoboji High School. As a saxophonist, Middleton toured for two years as a member of Cunard Line’s Royal Court Theater Orchestra and Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Regent Signature Orchestra. As the winner of the 2015 Northern Iowa Wind Band Concerto Competition, Middleton was a featured soloist performing a Concerto with the University of Northern Iowa Wind Symphony. Middleton holds degrees from the University of Northern Iowa (BM '15) and Colorado State University (MM '22).
